REACH
[4:02 pm, 24/07/2020] +: 📢 Topic 📢
How can businesses better leverage the Government’s initiatives - SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package - to help uplift their businesses and Singapore’s economy?
Companies need to do their part and help provide attachments and traineeships to workers retrenched amid the Covid-19 outbreak, said Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
On its part, the Government will be generous in supporting the efforts of these businesses, he added.

Business
(1) Business need to stay afloat - because if business cannot survive and close shop - it will be very difficult to start again - eg. need to find capital, cashflow, place of business, business model, customers, workers ---- a very strenous affair - that require alot of determination, guts, enterprising, innovative and creative ideas to build a business, survive, thrive, earn profits and provide employment.

(2) Business must stay agile, creative and transform its business model - to survive the current virus pandemic, as well as stay relevant into the future - to ride the wave of tech disruption - not only to survive, but thrive and seize new opportunities. Notably, not only to capture local market, but also international market.
Hence, exploiting Digital Economy will be imperative for most if not all business - as it can cut across borders virtually and physically - to exploit and penetrate global market - by selling local products and services to international market.

(3) Businsess must exploit the current opportunities and fund provided by Government in this virus pandemic - to train its workers, provide traineeship or intership for potential workers --- so that when the virus pandemic blow over ---- business can quickly ramp up its business activities by employing current and new workers (under training) --- to exploit the ramp up of business activites.

Workers
(1) Workers should make use of current programme, training, internship and trainee scheme - to upskill and learn new skills to ensure they have the most current skillsets to gain job experience or keep themselve gainfully employed --- not only to earn income to sustain their livelihood, but also ensure they gain new knowledge and skillsets --- to ensure their job skills are relevant to the industry.

(2) When virus pandemic blow over, workers skillset will be relevant to seize opportunities when business activites ramp up.

Medical Front
(1)  A COVID-19 vaccine candidate co-developed by Duke-National University of Singapore (NUS) Medical School and American biotech company Arcturus Therapeutics has received approval from authorities here to run clinical trials, with human dosing to begin in August.

(2) Reports that UK Oxford, US, China ---- have reported success in various phase of vaccines trial --- while moving into large human trial.

(3) Hopefully, there will be good news arising from the vaccine trial --- and effectively curb and stop this covid-19 infection ---- so that our Economy and Global Economy - can once again take off.
