Over the past month, as Singapore took its most decisive strides towards life as it was before the pandemic, it appeared to be fulfilling a prognosis by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in October last year.

In a national address on the Covid-19 situation, he indicated that it could take up to six months to reach a state of living with the virus. "How will we know when we have arrived at the new normal? It will be when we can ease off restrictions, have just light SMMs (safe management measures) in place, and cases remain stable - perhaps hundreds a day, but not growing," said PM Lee then.

๐Ÿ’ฌ How have your daily habits changed since the official announcement of the relaxation of SMMs? How else are you planning to change your life habits in light of the relaxations? Do you have any other concerns towards the relaxations going into the future?

The number of safe distancing ambassadors (SDAs) deployed on patrols will be gradually stepped down as Singapore further eases its Covid-19 restrictions from April 26. The Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) said on April 24 that this decrease will allow SDAs to return to other sectors as the economy continues to recover, amid a tightening labour market.

Hospitalisation numbers are down, about 96 per cent of the eligible population have completed their full vaccination regimen, and 74 per cent have received booster shots. Nearly 900,000 people have also caught Covid-19 since the start of 2022 - with the real number likely higher - granting protection from immunity.

The challenge will be to locate a new equilibrium - in how its people live, play and work; and in the compact between state and citizens - amid a raft of present and emerging uncertainties both internal and external.

Still see ppls sneezing openly and spit all over. I ever saw a guy in the ntuc fish areas wiping his nose drip with his hand then pasted it at the side of the shelf then touched the fish again..yuck... There is nearby tap at the side but.... Sigh...

For me n my family no change, will keep ourselves safe by filling the smm - hygiene and mask on. Our bag has the bff - wipes and sanitizer.

I also carry the hand sanitizer spray. If lift is smelly, will spray it.

In summary, hope ppls will NOT take thing for granted n back to old habit n bad manner. Hope ppls should be aware of  hygiene.

1. Almost every measures are relaxed - except for those unvaccinated.

2. Only mask need to be put on for our own safety and the safety of others.

3. As the pandemic is not officially over, I feel that the current measures are suitable.

4. Not sure what other measures need to be relaxed.

[0:03 pm, 09/05/2022] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

My close friend comments:-

I'm living in a cautiously relax mode.

I think this round sg got the timing correct.

High vaccination rate and recently vaccinated help us get thru the omicron phase with mostly mild cases.

No. of deaths is pretty high although death rate is lower than Delta wave.

Cautious because  many seniors' booster shots are reaching 6 months.

Does that mean immunity would wane and can we experience the next huge wave again?

Well, until that happens, let's get catch up on lost grounds!

And not forgetting to thank all who worked so hard to bring us to this safety level.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป To all the front liners, their support staff who hv worked tirelessly to help us tide over this difficult period.

This time around, the "war" is an unseen enemy and all our hospital,  clinics, doctors,  nurses, the support staff & runners are our front line "soldiers".

We dun fight w hard ammunition,  but w 'soft' ammo - vaccines.

๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— And we are all in this together.

With everyone's co-operation, we managed to arrive at Now...

Lifting of restrictions is timely and deeply appreciated. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

How long will this 'freedom' last?  Nobody knows (as we read of new variants occurring elsewhere).

Regardless,  let's all just enjoy the respite while it lasts but ...

Do not forget wat we hv all bn thru. Hopefully, we hv all learnt something from these past 2 years and be more prepared for the future.

[3:54 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: oh dear, how shameful. Suggesting Women cannot serve a critical need of national security and defence.  Seems that this minister thinks a woman's true purpose in life is to their Family, Children and Spouse.

[3:55 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: Has this minister not been following the War in Ukraine? Many opportunities to serve without digging in the trenches. War, Defence and Security can be fought many ways.

[3:56 pm, 09/05/2022] +Ken Loh: Don’t think in a bad way… they have weight the pros and cons.. that it does not make huge change with ladies joining the force in army.

[3:57 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: Why not take a more intelligent look at this challenge.

[3:58 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: He is hardly selling NS as a good thing: "....someone must suspend individual liberties as a civilian, give up two years of his or her life, and if they do not, they go to jail, as our courts have sentenced NS defaulters."

[3:59 pm, 09/05/2022] +Ken Loh: Like some industry mainly female… they are afraid will affect others industries that are predominantly female example childcare teachers, nurses, etc.

[4:00 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: ""Is that cost justified to send a signal or to reverse stereotypes? From the Government's perspective, no. " OK, clearly not an important issue for the Gov, which makes a mockery of the recent lip service for the new measures of Women's Equality.

[4:02 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: Why are those industries predominantly female? Perhaps because society thinks Women are better suited in those jobs and push women towards them. I was hoping SG was moving to a Gender Neutral society, but I guess it will take a few more generations.

No parents will agree…

[4:03 pm, 09/05/2022] +Ken Loh: As much as gender neutral… sometimes society still not ready..

[4:03 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: Yea - in Singapore maybe. Other countries are able to choose the best person man or woman to look after their kids.

[4:03 pm, 09/05/2022] +Ken Loh: Looking after own kid and being in a school is different

[4:03 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: Clearly - and is a shame the government is part of the problem.

[4:05 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: Covid was handled effectively - and good to see us coming out of this.

[4:06 pm, 09/05/2022] +BL: There is a lot of money to payback, but on the whole we came through with minimal impact on health. It's sad there were deaths, and still are, but the measures did reduce the spread and avoided hospital overload.

"Precedent & Deterrent (ๅ‘ไธŠไธๆญฃ, ๅ‘ไธ‹ๅผฏ)"

There is an old saying,"by hook or by crook" (ไธๆ‹ฉๆ‰‹ๆฎต) to achieve success or to reach an end point?

What's the preceding punishment for cheating in any National exams from Primary to Tertiary levels?

Is it fair, if a honest candidate failed this Bar exam and reflect upon this unprecedented cheating? Will it be fair to those failed candidates that perhaps cheating is the shortcut to clear this tough Bar?

If we apply this 'cheating model' to say doctors or engineers or liberal arts candidates, what's the moral, social implications and lessons to our future generations?

The law society as a professional body needs to step up its moral position on these 11 cheating future lawyers that is to set an example to all professionals & trades and to  enforce an equitable punish to deter future cheats!

Perhaps on the virtue of fairness and equitable, a LENIENT punishment for these group of 11 candidates is to RETAKE the cheated papers or the entire exams, This entrance Bar exam, clearly, there is NO SHORTCUT in life!

[5:17 pm, 09/05/2022] +Rama: Retake the entire examination

[5:31 pm, 09/05/2022] +Smiley face: A few sweet things about Singapore are:

We are dependable, at times predictable most of all we are honest people with law and order too (obedient).

From a perspective of a foreign investor or someone considering to live in Singapore?

Our policies and politics are stable!

So where else in Asia, can these foreigners look? Any suggestions?

[5:35 pm, 09/05/2022] +Smiley face: There are 31 day activity centres as at April, said Mr Chua, with about 1,700 places in total.

About 78 per cent of places at these centres, which are funded by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), have been filled.

There are eight centres with no vacancies.

Question:

Is $3.0 million sufficient to cover these centres of help for the disabled people?

[6:00 pm, 09/05/2022] +Rama: Maybe sgd30 million spread over till the next general elections

[6:12 pm, 09/05/2022] +Smiley face: The $3.0 million works out to $147 per disabled person/mth

"The Big Relax And The Relaxing Self...?"

These days the adrenaline driven motorists on the road is a testament of a robust and open economy. Is economics war, next?

The population acknowledges the intensity and extensive of this pandemic so much so that 5 out 10 walking folks are masked! What's left are the token, the app, the mask and lastly those test protocols? Are we ready to put all these tools behind us or within our reach?

When one feels unwell, one will not go out of home whether to work, to school, to market, to meet with friends and to eat out. Simply put it, there is a wide and broad understanding of the SMMs to protect oneself, that's pretty sure is well done! It reminded us a local saying, "relax lah, we know what to do, its settled...?"

Never be a wishful thinker, there is no chance to eradicate covid, at the minimal, hopefully it will not EVOLVES into a virulent bug! The key to avoid such a scary scenario is to SURPRESS omicron towards 1000s and below (1: 0.3), that's a daily hope and hopefully one or no daily death too?

So what's next?

If Bill is paying for 3000 medical army, so can we? Ourselves, select up to 3000 strong 'Pandemic Force ' from MOH (public +private), Armed Forces, SCDF and NTUC, yes, we can plan for it just like starting all over, our NS!

"Is honesty the best policy or perhaps a compromised one...?"
