[0:00 pm, 03/02/2021] +REACH: A Bill restricting the use of personal contact tracing data in criminal investigations to only serious crimes, such as murder and terrorism, was passed in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 2), with assurances of safeguards to protect people's data.

The safeguards in place include deleting TraceTogether and SafeEntry data for Covid-19 contact tracing from government servers when the pandemic is over, and encrypting any extracted data used for investigations by the police and restricting its use to only seven categories of serious crimes.

📢 Topic 📢

💬 With the assurances of safeguards to protect our data, how can we  encourage our community to stay safe and continue using TraceTogether?

Speaking at the start of a debate on the Bill on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan assured Parliament that the Government's intention in introducing it urgently was to remove any doubt among Singaporeans and assure them that the data will be properly safeguarded and used appropriately.

Besides TraceTogether and SafeEntry data, the Bill covers the private sector's BluePass programme, which contributes data to TraceTogether.

[0:03 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: Honestly ah I think the thing maybe died down a little liao, now pop up again, you might see the 80% drop to some smaller number

This is sadly a huge blow to trust, and it'll be hard to progress until this trust is adequately restored

[0:03 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: Never trust gov after this

[0:04 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: Win liao

[0:04 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: Many ppl not going to trust our gov liao

[0:04 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: Kept quiet until parliament asked

[0:17 pm, 03/02/2021] +Bobby Tan: I like the bill passed that restrict Police from using the data and only on serious crime. I trust our Police and data should be safe in their hand. Hence fore our security and safety will be in a better position. I will encourage everyone to use TraceTogether without fear.

[0:20 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: I trust the police. But not the gov now

[0:22 pm, 03/02/2021] +Valli: This is a good thing that is being legislated.

It will deter criminals to a certain extent.

People have been using social media, like Facebook , Instagram etc are already on the radar of tracking.

So there is nothing to be so alarmed.

[0:23 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: 👍👏👏

[0:24 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: Honestly we can't keep using this "social media already tracking us what" logic, we should instead focus on how we can reinstate this confidence

Talking more about it in a way that people can perceive as sarcastic is not going to help anyone choose to use TT again - once again, the priority should be to find ways to restore the confidence, not hamper it

[0:25 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Police is part of govt. Parliment passed law to limit the use of trace together info under section 20 of criminsl procedure code

[0:26 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: I am ok with police having access

[0:26 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: I no issue. Cause from the start, I don't believe gov say. Lol

[0:26 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: Cause gov say only for contact tracing. Period.

[0:26 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: Full stop

[0:26 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: No comma, no add on

[0:26 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: THE problem now is gov waited for 2 months, when being asked then say.

[0:29 pm, 03/02/2021] +Valli: I have confidence in Singapore authorities.

Data used for a good cause, for the benefit of the country & it’s people is acceptable.

[0:31 pm, 03/02/2021] +Phyllis: Hiyar our personal data is no longer secret why so sensitive.

[0:31 pm, 03/02/2021] +Phyllis: You rather our gov know or international hackers?

[0:33 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: is not about data

[0:33 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: is trusting gov

[0:33 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: what they say

[0:34 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Section 20(9) of the code defined the authorised person that can access to data as the following. To clarify, not only police, other law enforcement agency in govt also authorised to access.

“authorised person” means —

(a) any person who is authorised in writing by the Commissioner of Police for the purposes of this section; or

(b) any officer of a prescribed law enforcement agency who is authorised in writing, by the head of that law enforcement agency, for the purposes of this section;

[0:35 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Data is use for protecting singaporean and also our community. It is use for good cause.

[0:35 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: means the push for vaccine too

[0:36 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: cant trust gov say

[0:36 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: cause it was approved for emergency use

[0:36 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: A certain degree of assuring those who may doubt is still necessary

[0:36 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Maybe they overlooked back then as it is a very rushed proposal and project

[0:37 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Although not an excuse, imho, but at least they own up when asked, clarified and trying to rectify the mistake

[0:37 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Gov made a mistake. Should put hands up and say sorry it was unintentional to mislead people.

[0:37 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Which I think they kind of did.

[0:37 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: and really, it's not actually a big deal. Is it?

[0:37 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Berny said it better than me lol

[0:38 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Because my name is longer

[0:38 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: I read an online article said minister vivian was asked by public in oct and he assigned his staff to confirm what the public said, that point then he realised the issue.

[0:38 pm, 03/02/2021] +Valli: Yes it is over time & tested , that certain things are discovered , & if it is beneficial, then implement.

[0:39 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Ya, this happened

[0:39 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: I think we all have much bigger issues to focus on. Some people who stir this up as an issue possible have other agendas. Other people are just anxious about the use of technology in our lives. People fear what they don't understand.

[0:39 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: TT is here, let's use it and phase out SE asap. Single scan is a huge plus!

[0:40 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: I don't see what's the big deal about this Trace Together data usage. I would choose safety and security and health any time over some stupid privacy concerns.

[0:40 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: In reality criminals will just switch off their phone when they want to commit a serious crime, won't they??

[0:40 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Tt cut down the contact tracing effort from 4 man days to 1.5 manday right?

[0:40 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Agree YT. I'm happy there is CCTV forcrime and a secure reliable system in place to help manage the pandemic.

[0:40 pm, 03/02/2021] +Valli: Agree

[0:40 pm, 03/02/2021] +Rama: Admitting shortcomings is surprising! What kind of people were advising and assisting the minister!? No one thought of legal avenues for possible misuse!?

[0:41 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: smart and smooth criminals would do so, the not so savvy ones may forget

[0:41 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: +1

[0:41 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: 2.5 man day saving is significant and crucial during pandamic

[0:41 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: especially when you have super spreading roaming the crowded china town

[0:41 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: If anything this is more relevant - and the Gov should check their protocols. But we are just talking procedural problem really.

[0:41 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: during cny

[0:42 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Yes, this actually saves lives.

[0:43 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: Ok so drop all these, how to restore confidence now that it has already backfired anyway?

[0:43 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: The bill that they are proposing have to be passed in Parliament lor

[0:44 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Sell the benefits of TT and how the data is used to save lives. What is it exactly people are not feeling confident about? Gov? Data? Committing Crimes?

[0:44 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Isn't it just wanna be criminals who would be feeling anxious about this?

[0:45 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: I think that people are concerned about govt tracking them

[0:45 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: https://www.facebook.com/MothershipSG/videos/5049907531717252/

Pritam Singh did suggest some

[0:45 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Thats why there was this ttt tear down video

[0:45 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Ya, when the carrier just roming in town without knowingly he/she is the carrier of virus. More residents will suffer, without tt then who can the bystander know they r in risk of near contact... glad that having tt ontime. Human life is priceless.

[0:47 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: But my stand is still clear: I did nothing wrong, I'm not afraid of govt tracking me for whatever reason

[0:47 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Got it. I honestly think Gov has better things to do than monitor individuals. They are only interested in managing society better. We are 'tracked' on PT; cars are about to be Satellite tracked. Data is used for congestion management, providing services, catching criminals, saving lives.

[0:48 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Face book, google all tracing users. I dont think we r affraid of these companies tracking us right?

[0:48 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: That's why I think this TT debate is a red herring. There is no tangible complaint apart from the Gov taking it for granted we won't care, and being misleading about it (through carelessness).

[0:49 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: Can we stop coming back to these "social media, big tech already tracking us" logic anot? Yes it's true but clearly it's not going to knock sense into those who are hesitating

[0:49 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Idk, i only know my phone is secretly reading my chat and sending info somewhere as we speak

[0:49 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Correct, being tracked isn't the problem. It's that the gov said we wouldn't be.

[0:49 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Gps is tracking us too, the internet browser etc, are we going to stop using all these and go back stone age?

[0:49 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: So what are we trying to restore confidence in?

[0:50 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: Yes guys, the issue is the communications part again

How can the government communicate with us without problems here and there again, and again, and again?

[0:50 pm, 03/02/2021] +Caleb: trust in Gov

[0:50 pm, 03/02/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. While some people cry foul over the privacy data on the use of tracetogether, but seems like fewer people know how foreign social media, cloud providers, tech device makers have more intrusive data about us.

2. Eg. Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Apple etc will have more private data like handphone number, name, address, GPS location of realtime place of visits, website surfing history, using if our private data for commercial purposes etc.

3. But no one seems to be complaining.

4. Instead tracetogether contains lesser information for our health safety purposes and now for our security - but some people is making a fuss about it.

5. Data stored in the social media and the cloud are more damaging as they are fall into foreign hands and nobody is sure what they will be used for.

[0:51 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Yes we all know everything is tracking us, so that's not the problem. Are we being asked how to help restore confidence in gov?

[0:51 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: I think the issue is for urgent communications

[0:51 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Normal ones like chas cards, xxx subsidy and whatnot rarely gets distorted along the way

[0:52 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Exactly. All gov around the world have to manage public opinion and trust. They all make mistakes, just as all companies do. Looks at the recent Whatsapp outcry about data sharing.

[0:52 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: This is a PR problem, nothing more.

[0:52 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Phone manufacturer is tracking the phone they produced, when they push down the security patch, phone will auto detect and upgrade the apps

[0:53 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Ya, it is just the way of communication. We all are still continue chat @ whatapps

[0:53 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Im not too concerned on samsung or ISD knowing what type and how frequently I watch videos using my phone, it's not like i learning how to do something illegal anyways

[0:54 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: In companies people get fired, resign, demoted etc. This is the same. It's up to leadership to decide how to fix the communication problem and let us know what they did. I don't think anyone should lose their job over this, personally.

[0:55 pm, 03/02/2021] +Rama: Likewise

[0:55 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: Things might have been different if not for the extended deadline

I have already seen many friends jump to Telegram and Signal over the past few weeks, imagine if the 8 Feb deadline was not changed, this place might have been deserted LMAO

[0:56 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Cloud provider tracked the ip of access point, with other google apps, it directly pin to the location where the folk access the apps. If the person is in field, there are thousands of satelite on top of our head. Maybe google map have our face on it

[0:57 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Street view have some of the people's face when the car drives by

[0:57 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: But that's not targeted

[0:58 pm, 03/02/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. WhatsApp are touted to be secured with end to end encryption with 256 bits key - even WhatsApp company cannot see the chats.

2. But when the whole chat group track of conversation are backup into goggle drive - everything is in the clear - as encryption are no longer applies.

3. So wonder isn't this more damaging - as the private chat can be seen by foreigners?

[0:58 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: The information in our browser cache contain more information than in tt. The history log in google chrome, Microsoft edge, internet explorer are place hackers like to visit to get our personal information

[1:00 pm, 03/02/2021] +Rama: OMG!😱😨😕😟

[1:03 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: Exactly, Once it out from whapps online encrypted channel, there will be no more privacy, those chat downloaded into phone storage can be access by malware if the phone infected by malicious software. Data backup in cloud is not encrypted, apple cloud, google cloud, samsung cloud etc, these cloud is protected by user id and password only.

[1:03 pm, 03/02/2021] +Valli: No loss of confidence in Govt over this issue. It is only a minority who are complaining.

And this minority are permanently fixed there to point finger at Gov.

[1:05 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ana: Trust in a private corporation and trust in a public institution or government--those are two totally different things, held to two different sets of standards

[1:05 pm, 03/02/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

This is unencrypted history of our chat.

You see....

[1:06 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ken: Er?

[1:07 pm, 03/02/2021] +Bobby Tan: Er?

[1:07 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ken: Export chat 😅

[1:09 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: All these rubbish about trust in the government is only amplified by a very small number of people. And I suspect most of them have nothing better to do and just waiting for opportunities to criticize the government. I don't know what their agenda is but I don't see these same people being appreciative when the government had done so much to keep the numbers down and to protect the population. These people are looking to find fault.

[1:09 pm, 03/02/2021] +Elena: This group of ppl are just always protesting whatever gov proposes or sets. They don't use their brains to think. They feel more safe with social media having and exposing their private data because they think social media are not police and will not arrest them sia.

[1:10 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: Having said that, to restore confidence, my suggestion is for the government to boldly and shamelessly state what they have done for us. In my opinion, the government has not done enough of that!

[1:10 pm, 03/02/2021] +Elena: Double standards. Black also they say, white also they say. As long as it is them who set the standards.

[1:10 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: So much so that the simpletons get swayed and influenced easily when these people with undesirable agendas try to incite unhappiness.

[1:12 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: On this note, during my last work related meeting, someone suggested that we as an employee for the estate, should blow our own horn and brag once in a while, so that the residents know what we are doing / did. Same logic here applies

[1:13 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: That suggestion hit me hard and it really made sense to me

[1:14 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: Well said. That's why I call them simpletons.  Remember that time when many people jumped onto the bandwagon and decided to stop using WhatsApp? Where are these people now? All just think they are so clever and follow the crowd blindly. What's so secretive about their messages that they need to use Telegram or Signal? You mean, where to meet for lunch? What to eat etc., those are secret messages? Come on lah... it's ridiculous. I have old aunties and uncles switching because they read that whatsapp is not private. When I asked them what kind of messages they send that is so secret, they realized how stupid they have been.

[1:14 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ken: Lol...

[1:15 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ken: Anyway blind lead the blind... people say so follow.. I download just to see if it is good to use.. but not really like the interface for signal

[1:15 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Maybe they meet an old friend and scared people say they having some scandalous affairs

[1:15 pm, 03/02/2021] +Phyllis: Hahaha blind leading the blind!

[1:15 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: *cough cough, that lady who got charged

[1:15 pm, 03/02/2021] +m@dm@n: i think that is the main reason why ppl want privacy

[1:16 pm, 03/02/2021] +m@dm@n: lol

[1:16 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: In the first place, whats there to hide when lives are at stake here

[1:16 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Business risk closing down because of 1-2 who refused to cooperate

[1:16 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: I guess is more awareness among residents about the purpose of tt, its benefit and its secured feature. The law/ pdpa framework that protect our data in tt.

[1:16 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ken: The thing is once you use any form of device your data can be track somehow someway

[1:16 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ken: Don’t think too much lol

[1:17 pm, 03/02/2021] +m@dm@n: yupe

[1:18 pm, 03/02/2021] +m@dm@n: even if u r not using device, i think satelite still can take pictures

[1:18 pm, 03/02/2021] +m@dm@n: lol

[1:18 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: If she didn't do anything wrong, why would she be afraid of gossips? 心里有鬼

[1:18 pm, 03/02/2021] +Berny: Idk man

[1:18 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: Haha... yes Berny. One type of rice, feed many types of people.

[1:19 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: Yup. Some people, unfortunately, need to be reminded over and over again to be grateful and to be appreciative of what others do for them.

[1:21 pm, 03/02/2021] +SL: In usa, there were no blanket federal law to protect privacy data like singapore pdpa. Gdpr in EU and pdpa in singapore are the 2 that i saw government enacted to protect personal data.

[1:24 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ana: Double standards doesn't mean that both standards aren't high. Just that standards are different for both. I love Singapore, and acknowledge that the government has done well in various areas.

I just don't blindly agree that there's no need for improvement in their handling of the Trace Together data

[1:28 pm, 03/02/2021] +Elena: Then should ask the social media to do the same what. Coz u dunno who they sell the data to.

[1:29 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: I always believe it's ok to disagree but please come up with solutions instead of just saying I disagree or I don't want to blindly agree. Then to me, it's no different than my 3- year-old refusing to take his nap just because. Yes, just because. No reason. Just refuse.

[1:31 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: So, any better ideas on how to do contact tracing? I am sure the minders at Reach are all ears.

[1:31 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: Is it someone got affairs? 😏

[1:32 pm, 03/02/2021] +YT: I suspect many are having affairs, judging by how the Signal servers went down from too many downloads! 😝🤣

[1:32 pm, 03/02/2021] +Nats: Hell yes, everyone being naysayers or whatever but not coming up with viable solutions is really problematic 🤷‍♂️

[1:34 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ana: What were the solutions purposed in this chat so far? Can take a look

[2:15 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Worth remembering that Singapore offers stability and good governance like no where else

[2:16 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ken: Easiest to do business if you have money and good ideas..

Government give all sort of grant and tax free etc

[2:18 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Miscommunicating TT is quite trivial in context of the world stage and problems we are tackling.

[2:19 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: 👍

[2:21 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: That wasn't the problem. It was sharing all data with Facebook and people felt they can't be trusted. It's not the messages people are concerned about.

[2:22 pm, 03/02/2021] +Ben: Profiling, contacts, location etc and that data being used to target ads and share with 3rd parties

[2:33 pm, 03/02/2021] +Valli: 👌👍

1. Previously money is king.

2. Now data is king.

Because they know how to monetize data.

Only tech corporates with global reach can achieve data dominant.

Only 2 superpowers achieve this :-

1. US

2. China

1. US dominate 4G data and monetize them early.

2. China catch-up on 4G data to monetize like Alibaba, Tencent, tiktok and leapfrog into 5G.

REACH

[11:00 am, 02/02/2021] +REACH: 📢 Topic 📢

💬 How can we as a community play our part in tackling climate change and embracing sustainability?

To address climate change and promote sustainability, Singapore will soon launch a Green Plan, with agencies across ministries setting “ambitious and concrete targets”, said Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu in Parliament on Monday (Feb 1).

The plan will be continually refined as circumstances change, new opportunities emerge, and input is sought from citizens, businesses and communities.

More details will be announced in the coming weeks, she said, with Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat slated to speak on the Government’s sustainability agenda during this year’s Budget debates.

[11:14 am, 02/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Hahaha. Reduce road tax for electric cars

[11:20 am, 02/02/2021] +Bobby Tan: Agreed. The road tax for electric car is too high. There should be good incentive to encourage car dealers to bring in more electric car . I heard other countries all giving good incentives for electric car.

[11:25 am, 02/02/2021] +Berny: give COE rebate if they use COE to buy electric car, not sure how viable or feasible it is though

[11:29 am, 02/02/2021] +Bobby Tan: COE is the same regardless electric car. Is the incentive currently not there to buy a electric car and electric car now very expensive.

[11:31 am, 02/02/2021] +Berny: Correct, so if they use that to buy electric car, they get further incentives, on top of the existing rebate

[11:32 am, 02/02/2021] +Berny: Or maybe set a side a number of coe, specially for electric vehicle

[11:33 am, 02/02/2021] +WJ: study feasibility of replacing power plants with solar panel and battery.

[11:37 am, 02/02/2021] +Alvin: We can achieve this by a few movements.

1) Getting more ppl to give up on cars and take public. Active mobility needs to take front seat again for last mile transport. Encourage and lead EV and/or using renewal fuels.

2) Change our lifestyle by converting our food waste to fertilizer or compost. Next encourage more biodegradable bags for use. Have a recycling event where we can redeem unwanted items for crafted items using recycled materials.

3) I remember reading that sg gov have a policy where if we remove one tree, we have to plant back two in return. I hope this is the case for Dover Forest that we want to clear.

My 2.14 cents

[11:42 am, 02/02/2021] +Caleb: Should I take the COVID-19 vaccine if I have allergies? Anaphylaxis is rare, say experts https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/covid-19-vaccine-allergies-anaphylaxis-reactions-pfizer-14092506#.YBjKAdI648U.whatsapp

[11:44 am, 02/02/2021] +Caleb: Education is the key. Like the exhibits in ASM.

https://www.marinabaysands.com/museum/exhibitions/planet-or-plastic.html

[11:49 am, 02/02/2021] +Ben: There is still a climate cost though. Electric cars will be a success if we build the infrastructure.

[11:50 am, 02/02/2021] +Ben: Charging points are critical, currently there is no where to charge in HDB parking.

[11:51 am, 02/02/2021] +Ben: Boost car sharing like a blueSG, they already have a business model and it's cheaper than a cab. Some investment there would increase car supply and parking spaces.

[0:02 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: I don't know what's the hoo-hah over Dover Forest or whatever, but since my subject matter is mobility,

People keep thinking EVs will replace ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles 1-on-1 and that is not true. In fact, I have been telling people in the mobility sector that governments need to seize the opportunity and to use this current transition from ICEVs to EVs to "squeeze 'em out" ('em referring to cars)

As all of you know, I am a strong proponent of public transport and other urban mobility options aside from the conventional cars but I will keep this analysis as fair and square as possible as I see both an opportunity as well as an obstruction.

In Norway, the adoption of EVs is too damn high right now, so much so that the government has to co…

[0:06 pm, 02/02/2021] +Rama: Get involved with those who are already trying to make a difference.

[0:20 pm, 02/02/2021] +Rama: No need to check in at different shops in the same mall once TraceTogether-only SafeEntry kicks in https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/no-need-to-check-in-to-different-shops-in-the-same-mall-once-tracetogether-only-safeentry?&utm_source=whatsapp&utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=addtoany

[0:27 pm, 02/02/2021] +Caleb: Great. Can we start ToS now ?

[0:41 pm, 02/02/2021] +Rama: 🤷‍♂️

[1:13 pm, 02/02/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Single-used plastics bags

1. I support lesser usage of single-used plastics.

2. But the single-used have dual used - as carrier for groceries in supermarket - they are also used to bag liquid waste and solid waste at home - else it will be a hygiene problem if housing estates dispose their waste without bagging them.

3. Hence, suggest for each trip to supermarket like NTUC, ShengShiong, Giants etc - 1st 5 bags should be free. There after charge for single-plastic bag used. This will limit 5 plastic bags per transaction - and limit the used of single-used plastic bags - but yet achieve the "dual used of single-plastic bag" to bag liquid and solid waste at home.

4. Low and middle income household - will not feel the pinch of having to pay for plastic bag in shopping for groceries in supermarket.

[1:15 pm, 02/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Revert to use banana leaves

[1:15 pm, 02/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Lol

[1:29 pm, 02/02/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Rearing live foodstocks like cows, pigs, poultries etc - are the one of the largest source of contributors to climate change and host-based pandemics (eg. SARS, covid-19, MERs, swine flu, mad-cow disease, bird flu, HxNx, etc).

1.  The conversion of forests into agricultural land and livestock ranches is one of the major causes of deforestation. It is being done to meet the rising demand for food. Raising livestock generates 14.5 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions that are very bad for the environment

2, Scientists also has proven that virus jump host from animals to human - eg. Swine flu, bird flu, covid, SARS, H1N1 etc - due to people slaughtering of animals for food.

3. That why is urging government to spend more efforts and resources to R&D on alternative food source such as :-

a. Vegetarian food

b. Vegan base meat

c. 3D-printed vegan base meat

d. Cell culture and tissue re-engineering meat

e. Beyond meat

4. All the above suggestions will dispense with the needs to allocate big land mass (through deforestation) to grow crops to feed live animal stocks and refrain from slaughter animals for meat. Hence global climate can be protected.

5. Also, it will open up a new economic sector for Singapore - high tech agro industry and create new jobs for Singaporean.

6. The above proposal will have achieve 4 objectives :-

a. Stop slaughtering of animals for food and reduce animals sufferings.

b. Reduce the risk of pandemic base animals host to human virus infections.

c. Protect global climate by reducing the land required to clear forest to rear animals and crops.

d. Start a new high tech agro industry for Singapore and create high value added jobs to Singaporean and create export led industry on gourmet meat.

e. The above proposed agro industry will have created :-

- High tech lab for food R&D.

- Create manufacturing plants to mass produce vegan-based meat

- Food packaging, logistics, food supply chain, marketing

- Domestic food market

- Export food industry for overseas market

- Create many jobs in food R&D, high tech food manufacturing plant, logistic food supply chain, marketing jobs for domestic and overseas market

[1:35 pm, 02/02/2021] +Fulgrim: It will be the future

[1:35 pm, 02/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Once the tech matures and they can scale

[1:35 pm, 02/02/2021] +Fulgrim: It will be so cheap and fast that they will put all the real food farmers out of business

[1:36 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Not about the tech, it's about how this dude keeps repeating this NON-STOP

[1:36 pm, 02/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Ooooo

[1:36 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: Unlikely... meat is mainly consume by the rich countries... so sure still have jobs.

[1:38 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: But also high wastage 😓

[1:41 pm, 02/02/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Non-fuel based alternative energy

1. Solar cell panel and other energy efficient but climate-friendly method to generate electricity for energy needs in HDB estates, private housing etc.

2. Build extra track to accomodate PMD - eg. bicycles, eletric scooter, PMA, PMDs.

3. Provide infrastructure, incentives to convert fuel cars to electric cars.

4. Roll our DCS (District Cooling System) air-con to malls, office buildings and even HDB estates, condos - to replace individual air-con installation in individual homes.

[1:44 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: Only Agree with 4.

1. Still takes time to mature

2. As now PMD has banned lol.. people culture need time to educate

3. What happen to the old cars if we abandoned totally in favor of the electric cars. Power comes from power plant, so without going on fuel. Electric becomes Monopoly by a few players.if our power grids is down no more cars moving no matter how long your battery can last it still need refuel. And EMP can easily wipe out your electric cars

[1:44 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Clearly no one bothered to read what I typed

[1:44 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: Lol

[1:45 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Then want to parrot ._.

[1:45 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: He clearly have a very structured message from some where sure not from phone to type so complex and always have copy lol

[1:46 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Prepared beforehand liao lol like meeting notes liddat

[1:48 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: Should ask him go policy then see how hard is it to implement those..

and why the not so popular ones still around for so long.

Mindset cannot be change by keep repeating. Culture and education and many things need to be in place and Singapore clearly is moving slowly to try and adapt to see if it works.

But as we have seen we are not ready for many.. setup and died. Only a few successful ones. But then again never try never know

[1:49 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Lol two pronged attack isit, I cover mobility side you cover life sciences side, he kena kiap 😆

[1:50 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: Life science I really do hope there is improvement.. hence read up quite a bit. But issues with those implementation have many things and not all are good. We only want to see the advantages but not the bad that comes with it.

[1:51 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: When the advantage outweighs the disadvantage then we can push for it

[1:51 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Mobility also, whole world may see ours as world class but I know exactly where we went wrong but we cannot just anyhow whack, need to plan carefully one, so cannot just outright say build more lanes for AM one

[1:51 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: For now is really a playground for those ideas and create capacity for it

[1:52 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Not wrong for them to develop, that's how we innovate - some will fail, some will succeed, it's how life is basically 🤐

[1:53 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: Hence all small small ones.. lol.. dyson is one of the big failures lol.. they trying to find replacement for the hole dyson left lol

[1:53 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: Many suppliers affected by that..

[1:54 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Dyson die son lol greatest scam of all time sia but I know there's this thing called SGInnovate that focuses on deep tech, you heard of them before?

[1:55 pm, 02/02/2021] +Ken: Not really, didn’t read much on that..

guess similar to pharma require high skilled and infrastructure. Not easy to move kind

[1:56 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Yeah it's a relatively new thing, but SGInnovate is good imo, they had incubator sessions with Hyundai/KIA

3. Grow sufficiently can even export to overseas markets.

4. Boost our GDP.

Disinformation is an asymmetric warfare started in US - by Trump and his conspiracy groups to want to secure his re-election.

Unfortunately, the world unwittingly read such conspiracy news - and sabotage our efforts to vaccinate our population to defeat the covid pandemic.

Disinformation use half-truth, total lies, misinformation etc - to prey on the fear of people, especially vaccines which are new - to create confusion, unrest and distrust of public institutions and government to save the public from the pandemic.

Pandemic is a "world war albeit biological one cause by nature that bring mass death and global economic collapse".

And disinformation websites is an asymmetric warfare trigger by unscrupulous politicians and gullible people who read it, and propagate it out of good intentions but in fact aiding the heinous politicians.

[5:14 pm, 02/02/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. If people don't vaccinate, there is a constant fear that one day, he/she will contract the covid-19 - when the majority get vaccinated.

2. This will be the greatest motivation for people to overcome their fear to get themselves vaccinated - to protect themselves and their love ones.

3. Else life will no longer be the same for them ever after.

[5:33 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: But you remember that old news saying how recycling isn't that useful after China stopped accepting stuff for recycling or something?

Don't remember much but I think NEA has done a really good job advocating for recycling so we definitely can do more

There's this working group on recyclables or something too but I didn't get in lol

[5:38 pm, 02/02/2021] +Dan: Yes. The key to climate change is still with reduce, not recycle. The waste that Singaporeans generate is alarming. All the buffet promos and cheap online purchases (double 10, double 11 and double 12). I have friends telling me abt the purchases they made during these shopping spree and they regret buying it or buying it in case they need it in future. We really need to develop the Konmarie mentality when we make purchases.

[5:39 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Actually many paid surveys out there focus on reducing too, asking if one prefers cheap clothes that last a few months or expensive clothes that last for longer

Many insights can be gained just by participating in such surveys, wow

5. Children is our one of the more vulnerable groups that need protection.

[5:58 pm, 02/02/2021] +Dan: But then again, recycling is a necessary phase before reduce. Citizens will then have a better knowledge on which are the items that can are commonly recycled( type 1 PETE and type 2 HDPE). And hopefully,  people will try to make a conscious effort in reducing plastic bags in supermarkets after involving in recycling. At least students gain their understand through these recycling VIA. And if any of your children or family members try to initiate this because he/she did this in school, kudos to them.

[5:58 pm, 02/02/2021] +Rama: You have a point

[5:59 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Can also increase awareness of those volunteer stuff like the what repair kopitiam or whatever it's called

Focus more on how one can salvage things rather than throwing them away

[6:02 pm, 02/02/2021] +YT: I agree. When I was growing up in the 70s, and 80s, people repair things. I remember my parents calling for repairmen to come and fix washing machine, TV, and even the ceiling fan at home. Nowadays, it's a throwaway culture. People don't bother repairing. And I believe the big manufacturers have a role in this. They have made it so expensive to call for a repairman that people would rather throw out and buy a new appliance than to repair. It's sad, but where's the corporate social responsibility there? Then these big companies turn around and announce they are environmentally friendly etc., Stand back a little and you will see the game they are playing.

[6:03 pm, 02/02/2021] +Nats: Lol I heard those traditional TV karang guni also don't want liao 😂

[6:04 pm, 02/02/2021] +YT: Yes! Some evrn asked me to pay them to take away when I had to replace my TV recently. And it's not even a very old model. Flat screen kind, mind you!

[11:50 am, 01/02/2021] +REACH: 📢 Topic 📢

More than 113,000 people have received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Thursday (Jan 28).

Among them, there were 432 "adverse event reports" linked to symptoms generally associated with all vaccinations. Most symptoms resolved on their own within a few days, said MOH. There were three cases of anaphylaxis, or rapid onset of severe allergic reactions, but all of them recovered and were discharged after a day's observation or treatment, the ministry added. All three had a history of allergies, but none had a history of anaphylaxis, which would have precluded them from receiving the vaccine.

MOH said it will continue to work with the Health Sciences Authority and the Expert Committee on Covid-19 Vaccination to closely monitor the safety of the vaccine and ensure the vaccines used in Singapore are safe for its population groups.

Another country, UK has see tangible benefits in vaccination after Israel - even after 1st jab.

But UK is delaying the 2nd jab so as to roll out to more people - which is against the guidelines of vaccine makers and WHO.

But getting vaccination for everyone does stop the covid-19 pandemic.

So despite some risks of adverse reactions to a small minority of people, everyone should try to get vaccinated - because the risks and effects of getting the covid is far more worst than getting ourselves vaccinated.

[0:13 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ana: Be specific about symptoms and cases which will be covered and will not be covered under vaccine insurance.

When healthcare institutions keep saying there's "no evidence" of whatever conditions needed for covid insurance coverage, it undermines public trust and willingness to get vaccinated

[1:29 pm, 01/02/2021] +~宇: How about you do us all a favour and stop with your "care and sharing"

[1:29 pm, 01/02/2021] +Berny: Like this one:

[1:29 pm, 01/02/2021] +Berny: Because, its funny

[1:30 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: Lol 🤣

[1:30 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Lol I sense much hypocrite

Someone who doesn't even participate in this place regularly suddenly comes out to confront someone else over some (might not be true) news

[1:30 pm, 01/02/2021] +Berny: Credible or not is another story

[1:31 pm, 01/02/2021] +Phyllis: Why so angsty!

[1:31 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: 😅

[1:34 pm, 01/02/2021] +~宇: I'm free to chime in whenever I like. This channel doesn't belong to you little guy

[1:34 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Hahaha shut up bro you forever troublemaker one

[1:35 pm, 01/02/2021] +Phyllis: Hiyoh relax. Today only 1st FEB!

[1:36 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: Chill guys.. anyway try to share mainstream or credible source nowadays the world is crazy enough...

Need some peace lol

[1:37 pm, 01/02/2021] +~宇: So am I wrong in asking her to stop spreading misinformation

[1:38 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: No issue arh...

[1:38 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Lol I'd rather just have Ben's message than yours lmao, at least Ben approaches the issue with a balanced perspective and supports his statement with something else while you? You're just like you should be charged

I hope you're charged with electricity lmaooo

[1:39 pm, 01/02/2021] +jimmy chew: Haha yeah. This is Reach chat. If defunct Best to include link. I accidentally shared some good news about pfizer. Then my friend send me a link on same website but there was an advert that pfizer sponsored another drug. Good to know if refute maybe provide evidence.

[1:40 pm, 01/02/2021] +Phyllis: Not wrong la, maybe can put in a nicer way

[1:40 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: For me if I am pissed off enough I will go Google and amass information to shoot people... but then again, for the good for people usually mainstream do fact check a bit more so we don’t usually open fire 🤣🤣

[1:44 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: @REACH Singapore admin please assist 😅

[1:44 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ben: You do need to be careful. You are sharing it, and giving no counter view so it does appear like an endorsement.

[1:45 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Ben is nice. Be like Ben. Not like Jun Yu.

[1:46 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ben: 👍

[1:47 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Got data as to who doesn't and who wants to take the vaccine amongst the general population? Meaning not those prioritised ones like frontline and elderly

[1:53 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ben: They mean that people who wish to travel will not be prioritised for vaccination. The headline is very ambiguous otherwise, implying maybe that after vaccination you cannot travel.

[1:54 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: On my point, now got lotsa paid surveys ask about vaccine, whether we want to take it or not

There are tons and tons of survey panels asking the same question, am sure some are commissioned by gahmen one

[1:55 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: We go way back, WAY BACK lol

[1:57 pm, 01/02/2021] +jimmy chew: I think the appropriate ministries should advice those in there groups who are active in participating in the scheme. Sad to see them not being updated to listen too. I know the government is busy but they also doing their best to help

[1:57 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Ah yes this one, thanks for sharing it here!

I just think that even if the core services can't be offered, there'll still be patrons who will do what they can to support such businesses if they switch to other models like F&B

Indeed, they'll have to pivot to something else if they wish to survive

[1:59 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: This one really hard, if we don’t save them they will be the end. But then again, if we do then the other industry that are badly hit then how?

It’s luck and nothing much we can do to help. Subject to market force and situation.

[1:59 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Pivot lor, as I put in the message above

[1:59 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: We help one the rest also wants it.

[2:00 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: Yup if you can’t innovate to survive and depends on government to help. Then it’s on your own. Given rent had given enough help for the whole last year.

[2:01 pm, 01/02/2021] +Caleb: https://youtu.be/3YzOGvIGaX8

[2:03 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Some will say if these businesses pivot to F&B, existing F&B will have to compete but from what I know, it's just simple finger food for now and also back to my logic, some of those loyal patrons of whatever night businesses will definitely do what they can to support the businesses one, even if they can't sing or dance or whatever, and can only eat

But of course there'll be those who will have absolutely no choice but to close shop, it's survival of the fittest, everyone wants to survive, but we all know not everyone will

[2:06 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Say this again. Carrot and stick.

Stop entry to certain places for those without vaccines (eg wedding venues, seminars, IT show, place with mass gathering)

Reward those who get vaccinated maybe a voucher for those who completed 2nd dose and tested antigen for covid.

My 2.14 cents

[2:07 pm, 01/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Wah, just customised sticker one. I thought Megan will be holding a big stick instead. Lol

[2:07 pm, 01/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Like that if drawn to the logical conclusion will be forced vaccination

[2:07 pm, 01/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Hold u down and inject u

[2:08 pm, 01/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Make vaccination mandatory with jail time for those who refuse

[2:08 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: You that new meh LOL this sticker's inspiration prolly came from this group

Last time got a lot of bells one LOL

[2:08 pm, 01/02/2021] +Fulgrim: I first time see....

[2:08 pm, 01/02/2021] +Fulgrim: Slippery slope leh. Imo

[2:09 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: No la

Is more like how everyone likes free stuff so incentivise lor

[2:09 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Good old days when this group close prematurely because of an interesting and intense fight HAHAHA

[2:09 pm, 01/02/2021] +Phyllis: Ya man that was DA BOMB!

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: yes this

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: 🤣

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: two members were kicked out

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: transferred

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: would be a better word

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Lol I actually saved every Megan sticker

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: same bro lol

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Lai

[2:10 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: special REACH stickers

[2:11 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Bell no need lah hor 😂

[2:11 pm, 01/02/2021] +Phyllis: @REACH Singapore you got yourself a FAN!

[2:11 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Megan need a cane or whip one

[2:11 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: 🤭

[2:11 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: SUGAR CANE

[2:13 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Eh but @Alvin on your point of restricting access to those large scale events hor

What if suay suay someone wants to attend, but not his/her turn to kena stab yet?

Also a bit of a grey area hor

[2:14 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: yes so it should only be implemented after it's widely available for all

[2:14 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: hence you do the reward first

[2:14 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: eg i offer you vaccine if you guai guai take 2 doses and antigen test good you get voucher

[2:14 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: ppl will brag about that which will get more ppl interested to vax

[2:16 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: From what I know, some mobility events that are scheduled to take place here in SG will start in June I think

So maybe around then?

[2:19 pm, 01/02/2021] +Anne: Thanks for sharing.

Actually if you were here a few months back we have already shared similar concerns with the G, and they were also mindful of our feedback, that’s why they set up a panel of experts to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Covid 19 vaccines, and also did not go for mandatory vaccination.

This is a REACH chat group and a means for us to feedback to the G our concerns. Most people however seems to have mistaken this to be a social club and start imposing rules on what you can and cannot share. In this chat group only the T&Cs set out by REACH matters. The additional rules set out by the other members don’t matter. So, feel free to share your concerns with our G. Also, this is social media. You do not need to engage with anybody who is …

[2:23 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: To add on, the approach by Ben is much better than that by the Jun Yu guy

G2 has had countless times when people shared fake news without even reading it first so you also have to understand why some are so hostile

Though I must say there hasn't been any formal request (or directive) by the REACH admins to remove any posts for quite sometime now as compared to in the past so hopefully that's a sign that MCI is much more open to feedback, of a different style than before now

And yes, @Anne, maybellrejoice has been with us for quite a long time now, I recognise the name :)

[2:27 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ben: Might be unfair to those who haven't been offered a vaccine, or do you mean once Gov declares all citizens have been vaccinated other than those who declined?

[2:27 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Yes this

[2:27 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: But reward first

[2:27 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: You take you got voucher

[2:28 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Now the only thing is if have complications

[2:28 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ben: That might attract a different sort of member...

[2:28 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: MOH cannot say no evidence before investigation

[2:29 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: This will kill confidence that we will be covered for by the gov if the vaccine causes any ill side effects

[2:29 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: I hate widesweeping statements

[2:29 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: I wanna focus more on this

Insurance is one thing, but what about other forms of support like emotional?

[2:29 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Just say we are investigating

[2:29 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Don’t say no evidence

[2:30 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Of cos no evidence if you don’t investigate lah

[2:30 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Yass, must learn to be vague at the correct time

[2:31 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Who’s the spokesman for MOH need to learn the basics

[2:31 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: This will create fear and hesitation

[2:31 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: For taking the vaccine

[2:32 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Is it Kenneth Mak?

[2:32 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: When you craft the message to public it must be we take this very seriously and will investigate to make sure no such issue or if it’s unrelated we will also reveal to public. We will care for all sg who have taken the vaccine rest assured.

[2:33 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: That should be the tone

[2:33 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Anything short of that pls throw the script back to the PR team

[3:00 pm, 01/02/2021] +maybellrejoice1: Yes thank you so much for having an open mind.

Am concerned as the vaccine was produced in such a short time & the virus has now mutated into different strains.

[3:00 pm, 01/02/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Thus such timely information on the effect of vaccines on elderly is important to reassure the public that the vaccines are safe.

Public have to be very careful about disinformation websites publishing fake news and information.

Disinformation is a asymmetric warfare employ by many unscrupulous politicians and groups to sow unrest and confusions - to achieve their heinous political objectives.

Lately being Trump and their conspiracy groups.

[3:01 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: And your concerns are totally valid! I just think people shouldn't hentum those who have doubts about the vaccines as anti-vaxxers straight away

Honestly everyone is entitled to their fears and concerns because of the expedited development of the vaccines

[3:01 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: 👍🏻

[3:01 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: We all have similar concerns... I myself don’t want to be vaccinated.

But for work no choice 😭

As much as possible, too many information out there not everyone is expert in knowing information are right. So as much as possible we find credible source.

[3:03 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: I personally am not certain of it myself either

But I think if there's at least one person who's willing to, this person could convince us or something?

Apart from Alvin's incentive idea, this would be like the peer support part of it

[3:03 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: The more MOH is transparent with the vaccine and its side effects the less ppl will turn to fake news

[3:04 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: The thing is are they open about the information? Or they scare will create public panic and hinder the vaccination process?

[3:04 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Yes this

[3:04 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: But I rather they be honest

[3:05 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: Cause like everywhere any death related to covid vaccine is news worthy and will be smear all over the world

[3:05 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: When ppl turn to fake news it will impede not just vaccination but a whole lot of other issues

[3:05 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: I am sure there will be a few mishaps, but how much will cause the vaccination process to be halted no one will know

[3:06 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Mmhmm, lesser of two evils

[3:07 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: And during this period pls dun let our leaders speak to private group talk about “xiasuay” things.

[3:08 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: Lol ccs actually was quite frank

[3:08 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Tbh I'm on CCS' side on that but y'know how easily people can twist words 🤷‍♂️

[3:08 pm, 01/02/2021] +Ken: Just that people didn’t honor the deal of having privilege information and discussion

[3:08 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Yes this

[3:09 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Don’t brag to others our leaders lead the vaccination

[3:09 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Now the big priority on communication is to restore confidence

[3:09 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: By taking it themselves etc

[3:12 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: It's something every nation strives to do but tbh it has no effect on the common hooman like you and me

So I'd rather have a different approach, through peers

Something like "eh bro, come we go together" or "EH BAE" hahaha you get it lah, I want to focus on the peer aspect, rather than a top-down approach like what Alvin said about showing leaders getting jabbed themselves (which I reiterate again, really doesn't have much effect)

[3:14 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Three issues actually

1) Get all Singaporeans on board to get vax

2) Get everyone to still use a mask even after vaxed

3) Taking care those who can’t get vax eg kids elderly pregnant ladies etc

[3:15 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Someone need to come out with a strategy for all three holistically

[3:16 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: No one is safe until everyone is safe

[3:17 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: 1) Peer support!!

2) Insist that being vaccinated doesn't make one totally immune, let alone immortal cuz it's immoral

3) Insurance enough? Let's not forget my emotional support point

And I typed in pointers too, yikes

[3:22 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: 🤭

[3:22 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: For 3, yes need emotional and community support

[3:23 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Hell yes, support. We need support. Peer and emotional! One's an encouragement, another's an assurance

[3:23 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Cos those not vaccinated will be surrounded by those who did and no one knows if the virus could survive even inside a vaccinated host or not

[3:24 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: So you could be vaccinated and yet a host for the virus at the same time

[3:24 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Which makes it worse

[3:24 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: So let's assume it would, and continue our mask-wearing, personal hygiene and social responsibility

[3:24 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Yes so 2 is about this

[3:24 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Vax already doesn’t mean no need mask

[3:24 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Better start drilling that inside our skulls right now

[3:25 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Otherwise ppl might just ignore masks after getting vaxed

[3:25 pm, 01/02/2021] +Alvin: Hence my 3 part problems

[8:00 pm, 01/02/2021] +Nats: Got this paid survey conducted by Institute of Water Policy mention about paying towards such a change

Their disclaimer is of course that it's only their conjecture and gahmen didn't approve it or whatever though it's quite indicative of what future plans will be like

They had a few scenarios, adapt now (costing more but with a really low risk of flooding) or adapt over 40 years (costing less but with the risk of flooding higher)

It was an interesting survey
