Karen comments on Singaporeans not hungrier hit a nerve.
@Babe:1. There is no need to be enraged by the comment "you need to be hungrier".
2. Just go to job interview and get yourself employed - and prove the word is wrong.
@Babe:1. All my extended families and close circle young people got their jobs upon graduation.
2. So cannot see "You are not hungry" - apply to the youth employment.

@Babe:1. Singaporeans graduates and workers must be "persistent" and "consistent" in their job search.
a. Persistent - refer to unrelenting, unyielding (despite rejection or failure) in applying for jobs on available opportunities, look for and apply for job lead, apply through their Uni job fairs, Government job fairs, internship, e2i, MOM, headhunter, job portals etc - until one get their job.
b. Consistent - refer to consistent searching and applying for jobs without fail - and never be deterred or depress by rejection or failure.
2. Ensure Singaporeans graduates and workers skillsets are relevant and up-to-date and AI-ready - especially business are in the midst of transformation into AI-ready business.
3. If skillsets not up-to-date or not AI-ready, get yourselves trained in the up-to-date skillsets and take AI courses that business are looking for - to ensure workers will be of values to the businesses.
4. Only through such approach, majority of the Singaporeans can get a good pay jobs.
5. For some where the skillsets or AI skills are lacking, or where job applications outcome are not forthcoming - be prepared to :-
a. Join internship - to participate in companies who are willing to train the workers that lack relevant skills - but willing to accept a lower pay.
b. Willing to take lower pay in which companies are willing to take but train on the jobs.
Singaporeans graduates and workers don't need to be "hungry" to secure a job.
Singaporeans graduates and workers only need to be pragmatic in their job search because they are facing:-
a. A more formidable challenge - the rise of AI and the need to get themselves AI-aware, AI-trained.
b. Business transformation - that make some workers' skillsets obsolete - and need to retrain to stay relevant.
c. Losing out to foreigners in job search is only one factor. Even if business don't hire foreigners - business also won't hire Singaporeans if you don't possess the right skillsets or are AI-ready.
@Babe:Also Singaporeans need to be thick skin, and be perseverance in their job search.
Sure will get it one.
Because there are more job vacancies than workers.
@Babe:Source:- Google AI
Singapore’s job market currently has more vacancies than unemployed persons, though the ratio is tightening. Latest data shows there are 73,300 job vacancies compared to a low resident unemployment rate.
However, hiring activity has cooled, with retrenchments rising slightly due to corporate restructuring.
Despite a dip in overall vacancies, a talent shortage persists in several key domains, and certain sectors continue to see strong resident employment growth:
Technology & AI: The AI talent shortage is driving salaries up, with strong demand for roles in machine learning, AI engineering, and data science.
Growth Sectors: Job growth for locals is primarily driven by Administrative & Support Services, Transportation & Storage, and Public Administration.
Manufacturing & Construction: These outward-facing sectors support the bulk of non-resident employment growth, and also see higher vacancy rates for production, transport operators, and labor roles.
