[0:14 pm, 11/12/2020] +: ๐Ÿ“ข Topic ๐Ÿ“ข

With not one, not two, but three Covid-19 vaccines applying for emergency use authorisation across the globe, and several others in clinical trials, including a home-grown vaccine candidate, Singapore can be sure it will not have to put all its eggs in one basket to keep its people safe from the coronavirus. And it may also not have too long to wait.

Health Minister Gan Kim Yong has said Singapore will work towards "securing a portfolio" of Covid-19 vaccines to cater to different segments of the population.

๐Ÿ’ฌ What are your views on COVID-19 vaccines possibly being rolled out in Singapore in the near future?

[0:15 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Good afternoon Megan ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

[0:19 pm, 11/12/2020] +: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/world-economic-forum-to-be-held-in-singapore-in-may

I hope gov will not be in a rush for vaccine to prepare for this World Economic Forum.

[0:21 pm, 11/12/2020] +: The suitability of safe vaccine for the selected population,  considering the Pfizer issue.

[0:27 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I wonder how they gonna control

[0:27 pm, 11/12/2020] +: This is actually interesting, cause even if the BTO are cheaper due to the location food and services will still be more expensive.

[0:31 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Actually, what lay people like us feels or think doesnt really matter, unless we do not have faith in our health experts here.

[0:32 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I don’t.

[0:33 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Same, not because I have anything against them or what but lately gahmen has not been effective at doing whatever they're doing

[0:33 pm, 11/12/2020] +: But to put it very bluntly, when the vaccine finally comes along, there are always options to get vaccinated (assuming they are like common flu vaccination)

[0:34 pm, 11/12/2020] +: ๆˆ‘ๅพˆnice็š„

[0:35 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I don't think the government will pass a draconian bill and make it mandatory, yet

[0:38 pm, 11/12/2020] +: My BFF gave this feedback:

[0:38 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Merck takes distance;  you don't want to embark on a possible genocide.

Ken Frazier, CEO of the world's leading vaccine producer, the pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., in an interview with Professor Tsedal Neeley, from Harvard Business School, recalled that the fastest vaccine ever brought to market was medicine.  from Merck against mumps, it took about four years!

 - Merck's vaccine for Ebola took five and a half years and was only approved in Europe this month.

 - The tuberculosis vaccine took 13 years! Rotavirus 15 years!  and chickenpox 28 years !.

 - Frazier explained that the vaccine development process takes a long time because it requires rigorous scientific evaluation.  In the case of Covid, "we don't even understand the virus itself or how t…

[0:44 pm, 11/12/2020] +: As much as it's good news, I don't want them to rush it. Quality study takes time, and you don't know what might've been missed when things are getting rushed through

[0:45 pm, 11/12/2020] +: https://youtu.be/x9wn633vl_c

Just like this spiderman drawing. We're currently working in that 10sec frame

[0:48 pm, 11/12/2020] +: All the adverse reactions start coming out, not during any clinical trials, but actual rollout.

Someone once suggested we let other countries implement first then we decide. This was a very good suggestion.

For now our masks and SD are our best vaccines.

UK issues anaphylaxis warning on Pfizer vaccine after adverse reactions

[0:53 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Potential COVID-19 antibody drug made by Singapore firm to be tested on 1,305 local, overseas patients

A potential COVID-19 antibody drug developed by a Singapore-based company will be tested on 1,305 infected patients locally and abroad, in what would be its final trial before it can be approved for treatment in Singapore.

The biotechnology firm Tychan said on Friday (Dec 11) that it had received approval from the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) in October to begin Phase 3 of the clinical trial for its monoclonal antibody called TY027.

The antibody could slow down the progression of COVID-19 in patients, help them recover faster, and provide temporary protection against the coronavirus.

[0:55 pm, 11/12/2020] +: 1. Will the Covid19 vaccines be free to all, or at some cost? Who will bear the cost of these shots in Singapore?

2. Will it be made mandatory, as the efficacy of containment or eradication is predicated on ‘herd immunity’ of the population.

3. How will the roll-out of the vaccination of the population be done? Will there be prioritisation if vaccine stock is limited?

4. If the vaccine protection is only for a limited time and revaccination is necessary, how will this be managed in the long term?

[0:56 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Marina Bay Sands theatre to reopen on Dec 18 with live concert featuring Benjamin Kheng, other local artistes

A two-night live concert featuring Sam Willows' Benjamin Kheng and other Singaporean artistes will be held at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) on Dec 18 and 19, with up to 500 people allowed to attend each night.

This is the first performance at the Sands Theatre since it was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The two-day pilot concert will also be Singapore's largest live music event since the "circuit breaker", said MBS in a press release.

[0:57 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Go there Kheng gai? ๐Ÿคช

[1:02 pm, 11/12/2020] +: https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/tracetogether-take-rate-reaches-more-60-moving-closer-target-set-govt?cid=telegram_tg-single_social-free_26012019_today#.X9L9HlkyJXU.whatsapp

However, student Wee Ern Hao, 24, said that because not all businesses are ready, it would also put off people from using TraceTogether, including those like him who have already downloaded the app or collected the token. “I've been actively using my TraceTogether token ever since I got it, but I end up using SafeEntry half the time,” he said. “Most restaurants and shops, for example, don't have a scanner prominently displayed, so I don’t know if they can indeed scan the token. So I've ended up using the token for entry into malls, and SafeEntry still for shops and restaurants.”

[1:03 pm, 11/12/2020] +: For those vaccines clinical trials, how can we be assured that those who were diagnosed with Covid 19 were correctly diagnosed? I mentioned this before but I think I did not phrase it clearly at that time.

Also, these vaccines that are rushed to market seem to produce too-good-to-be-true results during their clinical trials. Is there a possibility that these results have been faked? If so, do we have the expertise to see through them?

https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/explainer-how-often-are-false-positive-covid-19-test-results-and-why-do-they-happen

[1:04 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Vaccines safety is paramount.

2. As long as vaccines are proven to be safe, I have no issues of getting vaccination - to be plan rollout by the government.

[1:04 pm, 11/12/2020] +: IMM was not able to scan my token & had to use safe entry

[1:06 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/world/covid-19-uk-warns-people-with-allergies-avoid-pfizer-vaccine-13735176                                                                                                                       UK vaccination - 2 persons with serious allergies got serious side effects from vaccination.

[1:07 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ: https://news.google.com/articles/CBMidGh0dHBzOi8vaW5kaWFuZXhwcmVzcy5jb20vYXJ0aWNsZS9leHBsYWluZWQvZXhwbGFpbmVkLWhlcmVzLXdoeS12YWNjaW5hdGVkLXBlb3BsZS1zdGlsbC1uZWVkLXRvLXdlYXItYS1tYXNrLTcwOTc2NjMv0gF5aHR0cHM6Ly9pbmRpYW5leHByZXNzLmNvbS9hcnRpY2xlL2V4cGxhaW5lZC9leHBsYWluZWQtaGVyZXMtd2h5LXZhY2NpbmF0ZWQtcGVvcGxlLXN0aWxsLW5lZWQtdG8td2Vhci1hLW1hc2stNzA5NzY2My9saXRlLw?hl=en-SG&gl=SG&ceid=SrG%3Aen

Vaccinated people must still wear mask because the person can still infected with virus load in the nose and infect others.

[1:10 pm, 11/12/2020] +: In Spore we should not rush to be vaccinated , probably Vaccination should take effect until all study is clear .

Can consider

[1:11 pm, 11/12/2020] +: My BFF says if our G makes the jab mandatory she will raise protest, and get her doctor friends to join in as well.

My feisty elderly relative who is 80+ years old has a amazingly healthy body that has never been defiled by vaccines (according to her). She said if our G goes for mandatory vaccination she is ready to go to prison.

[1:15 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Quote from medical experts "Therefore, a person who is vaccinated could become infected and continue to pass the virus on. So therefore to protect the population, we do need both.” - need vaccines, virus treatment and those vaccinated must continue to wear mask.

[1:19 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Yup

[1:20 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Anyone think other wise?

Cause seems like current voice is more wait and see for those currently voice out.

How about others?

[1:22 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Need to know the percentages also.. but they have advice people with serious allergy to avoid taking the vaccine

https://amp.abc.net.au/article/12968604

[1:24 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I think can roll out like BTO basics. Lol

Those who want it urgently.. choose which one they want

[1:25 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I’m wondering: if vaccines don’t guarantee to work esp don’t guarantee to stop infection from spreading, then jab for what? Risk our health and waste money.

[1:25 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Means either all jab. Or all don't jab

[1:25 pm, 11/12/2020] +: A chance to reduce infection ๐Ÿ˜…

Just like any vaccine mah

[1:25 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Is masking and SD and SHN/quarantine more than sufficient?

[1:26 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Yes but as you know there are many who don’t and like to go gathering at people house lol

[1:26 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Just the spreading chance are lower not none

[1:26 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Jab already still must wear mask and practice SD, and probably gotta jab again some time later, then jab for what?

[1:27 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Jab from getting the virus

[1:27 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Err to make you feel better? In still confident to visitors coming to Sg?

We want to be a hub we need to recover ASAP.

[1:27 pm, 11/12/2020] +: The virus may have other side effects. Like teeth drop out of nowhere

[1:28 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

We can't expect the population to wear mask and maintain social distancing forever.

We need to stop the chain of transmission and ensure covid no longer can harm human mankind.

Vaccination once proven safe will be needed.

[1:29 pm, 11/12/2020] +: If need to jab regularly then isn’t it like jabbing forever?

[1:29 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Sometimes side effects comes much much later ๐Ÿ˜…

So wait till G think it is safe enough to mass jab lor

[1:29 pm, 11/12/2020] +: We here also to sound public concern mah

[1:30 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Ya, I’m just asking a very basic question that’s all.

[1:30 pm, 11/12/2020] +: If wearing mask and maintaining social distancing is the best way to preventing the spread of other kinds of diseases Eg common cold or flu, then I'll be happy to carry on with this forever. I mean touchwood, but I haven't caught a cold/flu ever since I started wearing a mask after CNY when covid started happening

[1:30 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Same here.

[1:30 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Don’t think will have CNY visit bah...

[1:30 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Still not there yet

[1:31 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Economy will forever cannot recover if we don't come out from this pandemic.

[1:31 pm, 11/12/2020] +: No as in since CNY this year. So touchwood, 9 months no cough cough sneeze sneeze

[1:31 pm, 11/12/2020] +: There will always be a stronger one every few years. Due to the traveling globally. Virus transmission is just gonna get more common.

[1:32 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Is how to plan for future to prevent economic standstill

[1:32 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Yep, so even if not corona, masking and distancing is gonna be a way of protecting yourself from picking up other random viruses

[1:34 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

We cannot be permanently physically defeated by the virus.

And worst, we cannot be mentally defeated by the virus.

We need to defeat the virus physically and mentally one day - and emerge stronger.

[1:35 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Wonder how much the world will change after Covid ๐Ÿ˜…

[1:36 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Yes this is a common observation.

My niece & nephews who were prone to catching flu Pre-covid, have not had flu symptoms for couple of months already.

[1:36 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

And vaccines, if proven safe, plus other measures such as treatment - are ways to defeat covid - and emerge victory.

So that human can resume normal lives - and not live like a defeated human species - subject to the threat and slavery by the covid-19.

[1:38 pm, 11/12/2020] +: My personal feeling covid won’t be eliminated, we will just live in another way.

The new normal. Be it we like it or not. As a lot of people in the world won’t have access to covid vaccine that’s a fact.

[1:38 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Yah lor! I'm also one of those who will always kena whenever there's a bug going around the office/school. So I've been quite a happy bird this period

[1:38 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

And to further reduce the chances of getting pandemic from animal based virus - we need to change our way of interaction with animals:-

1. Reduce mass slaughtering of animals.

[1:38 pm, 11/12/2020] +: To my understanding even TB vaccination which was made compulsory are not effective any more , and is discontinued in schools.

Is this correct?

[1:39 pm, 11/12/2020] +: One concern I have is this: if a patient sees a doctor for the jab, esp for mRNA vaccines, will the doctor be upfront and inform the patient that the vaccine alters their genes and other potential risks, or will he just say: “This vaccine is proven to be very safe and very effective?”

[1:39 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Buzzword now is "the new normal". Adapt and change, that's the only way forward.

[1:39 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Bizarrely it was known they have serious allergies and carried adrenaline on them. They were nurses, so I put this down to human error not a problem of the vaccine. It's normal to declare allergies because of this potential problem. It was already known the vaccine should not be given to people with severe allergies, like plenty of other medicines.

[1:39 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jan/08/lab-grown-food-destroy-farming-save-planet

Global climate, pandemic will cause demise in agriculture farming and livestock rearing - but replace by lab grown, plant based and cell culture food production.

[1:39 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Lol May I ask are you vegan? Just to understand your stand point of reduce meat.

Just curious ๐Ÿ˜†

[1:40 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Nope

[1:40 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Ok ๐Ÿ‘Œ

[1:40 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Nor me, but I 100% support the introduction of 'lab-meat'

[1:41 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/361135?fbclid=IwAR1xWMvCrmr8GbidWradXaFPh96-uRjA1rRh3ZVDMRw-DFnLrrU6i5lCd40

[1:41 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Huh?

Trade in water?

Global climate create havoc on food and now water.

[1:41 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Critical resource

[1:41 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Singapore do a wonderful job in purifying waste water and sea water into drinking water.

Temasek is also going strong in plant based meat and cell culture meat - as flood, no water, poor soil - will eliminate farming and livestock.

[1:41 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I second it ๐Ÿ˜‚

As much as possible prefer non process food. Although I do like my nugget ๐Ÿคฃ

[1:41 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Err that sentence is very wrong

[1:42 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Cell culture meat

Need massive water

[1:42 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Create tons of waste

[1:42 pm, 11/12/2020] +: In terms of current technology still not cheap and generate high amount of waste.

[1:43 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

My close friend comments:-

Critical resources like:-

1. Water

2. Farming

3. Food like animals rearing

- will soon become more and more critical as global climate, pandemic - make farming and livestock rearing become impossible.

[1:43 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Looking at least 20 years down the road to be commercially viable

[1:44 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Oh BTW, vaccine manufacturers will create a lot of lab grown pathogens. If one of these pathogens escape, it will create a brand new pandemic. Does this mean we should stop all vaccine and other related R&D activities that promote the creation of lab grown pathogens? - just thinking out loud

[1:45 pm, 11/12/2020] +: We import meat actually, reduce a lot of stuff. The need to clean up all the waste. The usable parts for food is only so little waste.

We only can produce enough for food security, not to replace, never possible and not possible for low income.

[1:46 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

This crisis is human make crisis - global climate that destroy water resources, flooding, fertile soil, animals to human virus etc - will make traditional food source depleted.

Thus lab food could be human reliable food source in the future.

[1:46 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Lol! Sounds like the start of a zombie apocalypse movie!

[1:47 pm, 11/12/2020] +: If it's a human-made crisis, no more humans means no more crisis. Problem solved. Thanos was doing good... ๐Ÿ˜‰

[1:48 pm, 11/12/2020] +: More subsidies but do not allow to sell at all unless it is lease buyback scheme or after passing down to next gen after death or so.

[1:48 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Lab grown pathogen are under certain control.

Like requires various condition in order to produce viable pathogen.

Include

3 vector (dna required to add into a cell for the cell to produce a virus)

Specific cell has to be use to produce the pathogen

Strict protocol in place to ensure destroy after use.

Class 4 lab are under strict strict control. Singapore indicate we don’t have any lol..

[1:49 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Ya true also

[1:49 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Many many protocol in place, but then again if a person want to go rouge no matter how much control also no use. But we are train enough to know if we release what is the consequences

[1:50 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I think a lot of operators do not have scanners.

[1:50 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Our immigration custom can’t identify virus vector even if people bring into the country as the awareness is not there...

[1:50 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Temasek Holdings has alot of foresight and vision to secure lab grown meat to be our future food source.

Also Singapore government is the first mover in the world to approve lab grown meat.

[1:51 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Simple as bring in with a piece of paper if you guys know how it is brought around the world

[1:52 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/world/who-covid-19-vaccine-e-certificates-13699640

CNA also report on vaccination eCert.

[1:52 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

To alert Singapore government, that WHO may push this so that we are ready.

[1:52 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I came across S’pore biotech firm Tychan starts final phase of Covid-19 antibody drug trials - TODAYonline using SGNews https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sgnews.singaporenews

[1:52 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

So for those who need to travel overseas, vaccination is mandatory.

[1:54 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Singapore should specialise into this industry, train & create job opportunities for Singaporeans in this field. Can start in schools.

We have a reputation for Clean & Safe practise standards.

[1:54 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Actually i am thinking how about our own collab vaccine lunar vaccine? Like now no news of last phase trial starting or what..

[1:58 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Excellent explanation of how this new vaccine works,  and why you have no reason to be concerned.

https://qz.com/1944566/what-is-an-mrna-vaccine-and-how-does-it-work/

[1:59 pm, 11/12/2020] +: I'm very happy Singapore has chosen the safest and most reliable vaccine on the market.

[2:00 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Of course nothing is 100% safe, including eating restaurant food, or walking down the street!

[2:01 pm, 11/12/2020] +: ๐Ÿ‘Œ

REACH

[2:06 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Singapore to unilaterally lift border restrictions to travellers from Taiwan on Dec 18

Singapore will lift border restrictions for visitors from Taiwan from Dec 18, said the Civil Aviation Authority (CAAS) on Friday (Dec 11).

With immediate effect, travellers can apply for a single-entry Air Travel Pass (ATP) to enter Singapore from next Friday, said CAAS in a news release, adding that they must be in Taiwan for 14 consecutive days before departure.

Upon arrival, visitors will undergo a COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test and if the result is negative, they will be allowed to go about their activities in Singapore without serving a stay-home notice.

As part of the contract tracing process, travellers from Taiwan must download and register for the TraceTogether app on their mobile devices before entering Singapore and keep it activated during their stay.

[2:10 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Is the T&T monitored to ensure it is active? What is the requirement? Can they turn off their phone? What happens if the battery runs out? OK to announce policies, but we need to understand 1) how it is enforced and 2) what are consequences for breach.

[2:12 pm, 11/12/2020] +: This is the same type as the UK allergy reaction.

So far is estimate to have a reaction to be 1 in 1 million have allergy reaction to the encapsulation chemical PEG.

[3:32 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Record $25 billion for research and innovation over next five years to secure Singapore's future

A $25 billion plan charting the country's research landscape was launched on Friday (Dec 11), a critical investment that will help the economy emerge stronger from the shadow of Covid-19, while ensuring the country shores up its defences against future threats.

Among the plans is a national effort to help Singapore respond nimbly to future infectious diseases.

The pandemic has accelerated technological trends and structural changes that will reshape the global economy, and throw up new challenges for societies, said Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat at a press conference to lay out the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2025 plan.

[5:25 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Look at the breadth and depth of the R&D the research fund is covering - it will help Singapore to be competitive in the whole spectrum of our industries which is good for our long term development of our economy.

2. Considering we are facing budget pressure - the continuing commitment of such a big R&D fund is far sighted and visionary.

3. Just wonder did we do r&d in chips making - that are powering computers, smartphone, 5G, military equipment, AI, satellites and other high technologies. Just wondering...

[5:54 pm, 11/12/2020] +: With ToS, will places such as train stations provide barcode scanner to scan TT token?

[6:00 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Taxes will have to be adjusted upwards and gst increase to delayed indefinitely

[6:06 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

R&D are investment and not expenditure.

If R&D are successful, it can translate into substantial GDP.

Rama

[6:08 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Mitigation needed in between

[6:18 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Eg.

1. Applied R&D - Singtel and Grab win digital banking.

Thus both need to do  R&D on fintech solutions to do digital banking - worth billion of dollars.

2. Basic R&D - eg. Local drug firm do R&D to develop covid vaccine and treatment - a billion dollar business that can sell locally and globally.

[6:35 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Bearing in mind, there are no physical bank branches to do banking services.

Only online digital banking - deposit, loans, risk assessment, credit analysis, data analytics, insurance, etc.

Caleb

[6:36 pm, 11/12/2020] +: Means hawkers and all need to accept cashless payment

[6:37 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Yes.

So all future transactions - need to re-develop.

Need applied R&D how to do it conveniently and securely.

Rama

[6:38 pm, 11/12/2020] +: They are still reluctant having being repeatedly duped by customers

Caleb

[6:38 pm, 11/12/2020] +: This one they need to check on their own terminal

[6:38 pm, 11/12/2020] +: China learnt

[6:39 pm, 11/12/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Yes.

That's why banks need to rethink and convince customers and hawkers.

Eg. Print receipt if successful - not only show terminal.
