[26/8/2026 10:30 am] REACH Singapore: 📢 Topic 📢

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced at his National Day Rally on Sunday (Aug 23) that several islands, including Semakau, Bukom and Pulau Sudong, could be merged to support new industries and future power generation needs. Pulau Hantu sits amid the three islands, and some expressed concerns that reclamation or access restrictions could harm both the marine environment and the local diving industry built around the site.

Recognising the biodiversity value of the western islands and its surrounding waters, a Spokesperson from the Ministry of National Development (MND) mentioned that the Government was carefully studying plans for future reclamation, and will be conducting technical studies as well as engaging stakeholders.

💬 What are your thoughts on the development plans surrounding the merger of these islands?

As part of the planning process, the ministry said it would conduct technical studies to inform the development plans, including the reclamation profile. These will include feasibility studies, site investigations and surveys, and engineering and environmental studies, to better understand development possibilities and their preliminary impact on areas such as biodiversity and hydrodynamics.

"We will engage stakeholders early to listen to their inputs before studies and work commence, and their feedback will be carefully considered," the spokesperson from MND said.

"Their knowledge and expertise will help inform the studies, assess potential biodiversity impact and identify measures to avoid, minimise and mitigate impacts where possible."

[26/8/2026 10:34 am] YSQ: We purposefully increase the demand for energy by deliberately increasing population, and then now try to justify the need for increased energy production.

So many of our issues can be traced back to a single point, incessantly trying to increase our population. The same sentiment with our forests, these are not something we can easily replace once we take them away.

[26/8/2026 10:38 am] Daniel: I think this issue is more pressing as for instance the discussion with Maju forest. While it's a pity that forest is going away, it's a secondary forest. However, these reefs are way older (I'd compare them more to a primary forest). Considering that reefs across the world are under threat of extinction due to increased sea water temperatures, I think we have a moral duty to protect the remaining reefs as they are really crucial to maintain the biodiversity and health of our oceans. I really hope this is taken into account before they are cleared.

[26/8/2026 10:53 am] LCL (Danny 心):

The following considerations will govern my thoughts on what are the best approaches to the merger of the islands to form another new energy infrastructure hub - Jurong Island 2 (high possibility of hosting the nuclear energy reactors if final decision is made after thorough assessment) :-

1. LNG gas that fuel 90% of our current electricity needs is one of the highest carbon emissions culprit due to the methane gas that contributes to global warming as they are made from fossil fuels.

Methane traps heat in the atmosphere much faster than carbon dioxide.

2. Fossil fuels are even worst carbon emitters.

Burning fossil fuels releases large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which trap the sun's heat and warm the planet.

3. If we don't convert into sustainable green energy - no matter how much forest or coral we keep, the carbon emissions by non- green energy will cause more harmful carbon emissions and global warming than making Singapore a forested country.

This is science.

4. And the only massive electricity power source that can produce 13 GW of electricity for the whole country economic, housing, industrial power needs - using green energy, domestically sustainable without being held hostage by supply disruption is Nuclear Energy.

5. Singapore don't rely on import of sands to do land reclamation.

We are adopting:-

Polder Development: Singapore now uses the Dutch polder method—building a sea dyke and pumping water out—to reduce its heavy reliance on imported sand, used notably at Pulau Tekong.

Future Projects: Upcoming large-scale coastal protections like the Long Island project will balance traditional infilling with modern, adaptive engineering.

6. Coral reef migration - Singapore can explore the method of coral reef migration - to migrate all the surrounding coral reef diversity into more far fetch islands preserving the current nature.

Successful coral reef migration have been performed to preserve the nature; notably Japan.

Source:- Google Gemini AI

How Coral Migration Works

Larval dispersal: Adult corals stay fixed in one place, but they release eggs and sperm into the water during mass spawning.

Current transport: Fertilized eggs turn into tiny swimming larvae that drift hundreds of miles on ocean currents.

Poleward shift: As tropical waters get too hot, surviving larvae settle in cooler, higher-latitude subtropical or temperate regions away from the equator. This SECORE (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.secore.org/en/our-work/all-about-corals/corals-future&ved=2ahUKEwiG58fPp72WAxUTcGwGHexSI_kQy_kOegoIAggACAAIDRAH&opi=89978449&cd&psig=AOvVaw1Iwh8PdQiFRerU34WrHpvU&ust=1787799863383000) overview notes how warming oceans push coral habitats northward, such as in southern Japan.

On the hindsight, if our government at that time didn't build Jurong Island 1 - by merging the few islands, we will have no oil refineries to power our electricity now.

We will be living in stone age.

[26/8/2026 11:23 am] LCL (Danny 心):

If no electricity to purify the clean water from drinking - we have -

1. We can drink sewage water - no electricity to treat into newater.

2. We can drink seawater - no electricity to desalinate seawater.

3. We can drink directly from the reservoir water - no electricity to purify into clean drinking water.

We can live like a caveman.

If there is a need to preserve the few trees in the 3 tiny islands assume 500 trees, chop them down when merging the islands.

After building the new green energy infrastructure, presumably the nuclear reactors, plant back 500 beautiful trees along the merge islands in a tree planting campaign.

I will support the tree planting campaign.

Jurong Island is Singapore's primary energy and petrochemical hub, ranking as one of the top global oil refining and trading centers.

Global Hub: Processes over 1.3 to 1.5 million barrels of oil per day despite Singapore having no domestic crude oil production.

Key Operators: Major facilities include the Singapore Refining Company (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=web&rct=j&url=https://src.com.sg/&ved=2ahUKEwiUoI6orb2WAxXjiuEIHaw9FOEQy_kOegoIAggACAAIDxAI&opi=89978449&cd&psig=AOvVaw1CWnilm7ERu0QS89mYtHe5&ust=1787801391264000) (a joint venture involving SPC) and operations by global firms like ExxonMobil and Chevron.

Underground Storage: Supported by the Jurong Rock Caverns (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.jtc.gov.sg/jurongisland/story-articles/jurong-rock-caverns&ved=2ahUKEwiUoI6orb2WAxXjiuEIHaw9FOEQy_kOegoIAggACAAIDxAO&opi=89978449&cd&psig=AOvVaw1CWnilm7ERu0QS89mYtHe5&ust=1787801391264000), Southeast Asia's first commercial underground oil storage facility located 150 meters beneath the island.

People are not really talking about the trees, it's the reefs people are concerned about. Those cannot be simply replanted, and moving them is costly and needs suitable, shallow replacement areas, which there are not many left.

Yes.. @DannyCIN propose solutions please

[26/8/2026 11:43 am] LCL (Danny 心) in reply to LCL (Danny 心):

> ‎⁨The following considerations will govern my thoughts on what...

Nuclear energy is a low-carbon power source that produces zero greenhouse gas emissions during its electricity generation phase.

Zero Operational Emissions: Splitting uranium atoms via fission releases heat to make steam, emitting only water vapor from cooling towers.

Comparable Lifecycle Footprint: According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.iaea.org/newscenter/news/five-reasons-the-clean-energy-transition-needs-nuclear-power&ved=2ahUKEwjBg86OsL2WAxULe2wGHe8xFuwQy_kOegoIAggACAAIDRAJ&opi=89978449&cd&psig=AOvVaw2Bn4tl44yn13Z7paQ0hmfz&ust=1787802143089000), total lifecycle emissions (including mining and construction) match wind power and sit lower than solar.

High Efficiency and Reliability: Reactors operate continuously at high capacity factors (over 90%), requiring much less land area than wind or solar farms.

[26/8/2026 11:44 am] Andy: I don't care about the coral reef, doesn't matter. We will never progress if we keep listening to these preservationists

[26/8/2026 11:45 am] LCL (Danny 心):

Hence I will support Government intent with the following approaches we can take:-

1. Conduct environmental assessment and gather all sea diversity marine lives, coral reef etc to see what can be salvage.

2. Identify alternative islands that can house all the identified marine biodiversity to ensure as minimal damage as possible.

3. Perform migration of the coral reef once identified.

Pedra Branca?  Or other more far fetched islands away from our mainland that we need to earmark for future development.

4. Identified the boundaries of the few islands to be merged.

5. Do reclamation using the advanced land reclamation techniques with minimal sand import.

6. Count all the trees in the few islands - assume 500 trees. Then chop them all down.

7. Build reinforced silos (the underground honeycomb) to house the underground SMR nuclear reactors that can generate up to 13GW of electricity for now and future electricity needs.

8. Consider also building other green power plants such as hydrogen power plants.

9. After merging all the islands, build all the SMR nuclear reactors, green power plants like hydrogen, then skilfully allocate sufficient spaces along the merge islands to plant back the 500 chopped down trees.

10. We can organise a tree planting campaign and invite the green conservationists to take part and 向 Mr LKY 致敬!

We can similarly invite all conservationists to participate in the migration of the coral reef.

Always remembering what Mr LKY said:-

"To rule Singapore, there must be an Iron in him.

If not give it up.

This is not a game of cards.

This is your life and my life.

As long as I am around, I will not let you knock it down!".

[26/8/2026 11:45 am] Andy: We will never be here today if we didn't reclaim those lands, drain the swamps and convert pig farms into estates

> 📢 Topic 📢  Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced at his...

If country wants to develop further and be prosperous,, there is always a trade-off for urbanisation

Eco environment & conservation & climate change are important

However population still require energy/water/clean air to survive plus military protection also

SG Land is scarce and sea reclamation maybe one of the option

I believe SG govt will be doing the feasible study and careful consideration, b4 making any decision for SG future development

We may have to understand there are always pros and cons and trade offs for whatever decisions we made, as there is no 'perfect" plan/policy afterall

[26/8/2026 11:53 am] Andy: I'm excited about the possibility of having more land, more industries, more opportunities.

People will always find something to complain about anyway. Wet blankets crying about reefs and forests. It's not like there are 0 conservation efforts. Important for gov to understand that we must never try to pacify those who will never be satisfied

[26/8/2026 12:05 pm] Ahin in reply to Andy:

Thats what happen to extinct animal.... are we repeating the same mistake?

[26/8/2026 12:06 pm] Andy: 1 small reef off the coast of Singapore will not cause extinction hello

[26/8/2026 12:06 pm] Ahin: If everyone had the same thinking... that will cause extinction hello...

[26/8/2026 12:07 pm] Andy: If everyone had the same thinking we'll still be in the stone age! 🤣

[26/8/2026 12:07 pm] Ahin: It is not the matter of small reef or big reef... it is the principal.... if the principal is wrong... then all went wrong...

[26/8/2026 12:07 pm] Andy: This is your principal alone

[26/8/2026 12:08 pm] Ahin: Nope... many shares my concern.... though I am not environmentalist... but I got their POV

[26/8/2026 12:09 pm] Andy: Extinction is just too far fetched. There are also conservation efforts to be made. I too get their POV, but rewards outweigh the costs

[26/8/2026 12:10 pm] Ahin: Can you say to LKY that he is far-fetched to have Tree planting day?.... He is a visioner.... That's why he is different from you...

[26/8/2026 12:10 pm] Andy: Huh? I don't think tree planting day is far fetched at all. What are you talking about...

[26/8/2026 12:11 pm] Ahin: You can always say... why LKY need to plant tree... someone somewhere in the planet will plant the tree... right?

[26/8/2026 12:11 pm] Andy: You want a reef planting day?

[26/8/2026 12:11 pm] Ahin: That is Principally wrong.... Do you know more about coral reef than environmentalist? If yes, please share...

[26/8/2026 12:13 pm] Andy: It's principally wrong to impede efforts for national interest. Yes human have made certain animals like the Kiwi bird extinct. And so what? Does it affect you in any way?

[26/8/2026 12:14 pm] Andy: What is this 'principle' you are talking about? Killing life?

[26/8/2026 12:14 pm] Ahin: Wow... you are OK with Kiwi bird extinct and not taking lesson and step to prevent others from happenning....

[26/8/2026 12:14 pm] Ahin: Well... I have nothing to say....

[26/8/2026 12:15 pm] Andy: In fact I want to make more things extinct... 😂

[26/8/2026 12:15 pm] Ahin: I do hope singaporean will strike balance between brain and heart....

[26/8/2026 12:15 pm] RY in reply to RY:

> ‎⁨If country wants to develop further and be prosperous,,...

SG govt in fact has been taking much effort to conserve SG eco-environment/protect species all these years

Example mandai wildlife reserves zoo/safari/bird paradise plus sungei buloh nature park/kranji marshes/botanic garden and etc

If govt dont do land reclamation to expand its land area, how we get Marine Parade residential, and enjoy east coast park beach

[26/8/2026 12:16 pm] Ahin: First of all.... find out why we need to reclaim the land and destroy marine life.... Is there any other place that can serve the purpose without destroying marine life? Is there any study yet?

[26/8/2026 12:17 pm] LCL (Danny 心) in reply to LCL (Danny 心):

I have checked Singapore and all its island's map.

The most far fetched island Singapore have is Pedra Branca - the far eastern tip.

If it is not politically impossible with the current ongoing boundary demarcation - the merged islands coral reef migration can move there.

It will not disrupt our development of Singapore mainland and island cluster in future - and can hear less of conservation noises.

[26/8/2026 12:17 pm] Ahin: First of All.... Find out why we need to reclaim the sea?

[26/8/2026 12:17 pm] Daniel in reply to LCL (Danny 心):

> ‎⁨I have checked Singapore and all its island's map....

Did you also check how deep the water there is?

[26/8/2026 12:18 pm] Andy: Definitely. We have almost 50% greenery coverage as a city-state. It's much more than our neighbouring cities by far! If anything we should trust the government's attention to conservation

[26/8/2026 12:18 pm] LCL (Danny 心) in reply to Daniel:

> ‎⁨Did you also check how deep the water there is?⁩

Fill up the seabed around Pedra Branca and then place the coral reef.

[26/8/2026 12:20 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

If China can build artificial islands in deep ocean in South China sea - what is Pedra Branca?

[26/8/2026 12:21 pm] LCL (Danny 心) in reply to LCL (Danny 心):

Jurong Island was officially opened by then-Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong in October 2000, though the massive land reclamation project to merge the seven southern islands started in 1991 under the leadership of Singapore's first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, with planning and execution continuing through the transition of administrations.

[26/8/2026 12:22 pm] Ahin: To move the coral reef, you need to find similar characteristic of the original location... such as Water depth, light, temperature, sea waves, etc.... is the new places comply to this? ever had study on this?

i strongly disagree with the view that we should place so much emphasis on environmental conservation, preserving greenery etc, and lose the bigger picture. climate, conservation, etc are all rich man's problem that I feel SG do not have the luxury to worry about.

Fundamentally, if developing these areas allow SG to remain competitive economically(e.g. lower energy cost with nuclear plant development), enabling new industries, etc that should be our priority. conserving greenery, being mindful of climate impact, should be secondary. survival and livelihood should be priority.

[26/8/2026 1:38 pm] Jun Ming: Aiya one nature disaster and we all gone liao

Doesn't the SAF use pawai for live firing..

Won't that island and its vicinity have numerous unexploded bombs and munitions

[26/8/2026 1:39 pm] Daniel in reply to Ethan:

> ‎⁨i strongly disagree with the view that we should place so much...

The problem is that currently the "rich man" is us. At some point we have to do our part to tackle the climate issues or it will definitely start affecting our livelihood and survival. We can't keep expecting other countries to do more while not doing our part just because of space constraints.

[26/8/2026 1:39 pm] G in reply to Ethan:

> ‎⁨i strongly disagree with the view that we should place so much...

👍 and how will the price of these reclaimed lands be valued?

That will have an enormous trickle down effect

[26/8/2026 1:41 pm] Ethan in reply to Daniel:

> ‎⁨The problem is that currently the "rich man" is us....

what climate issues are we contributing thats SO GRAVE that we should sacrifice our economical competitiveness for?

we are barely surviving. we are NOT the rich man.

The Rich Man is Europe and look at how their economy is suffering with their whole climate priority view.

[26/8/2026 1:41 pm] G in reply to G:

Maybe should reclaim? But leave pawai and sudong alone? Dunno what ancient military hardware / munitions lurk in those lands and waters. May not be safe to reclaim for civilian use

[26/8/2026 1:42 pm] Daniel in reply to Ethan:

This might be slightly outdated. By most measures and rankings Singapore is wealthier per capital as most European countries.

[26/8/2026 1:43 pm] Ethan: wealthier doesnt mean we should focus on climate and give up that competitiveness. again pls say: what climate issues are we contributing thats SO GRAVE that we should sacrifice our economical competitiveness for

[26/8/2026 1:43 pm] G in reply to REACH Singapore:

> 📢 Topic 📢  Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced at his...

Don't want to spend a bomb of taxpayer monies to get rid of unknown number of bombs around pawai sudong

Maybe go reclaim away from these islands

[26/8/2026 1:43 pm] Andy: I definitely observe very strong opinions and feelings regarding protecting nature, it's very valid. In fact this is a common shift in focus as countries get more developed, and we should expect that.

Why does this happen?

This is because their basic needs are met, certain luxuries are affordable, people are educated about importance of nature, and they do not see the need to further develop beyond what we have now at the expense of nature.

In my opinion, this is very dangerous thinking amongst people who already lead a comfortable life. A nation as a whole must continue to develop, create opportunities, attract investment to survive. Even more so for Singapore, we only have land and people. If we neglect this fundamental, our future generations will inevitably decline.

[26/8/2026 1:44 pm] Andy: Not AI by the way...

[26/8/2026 1:46 pm] Daniel in reply to Ethan:

> ‎⁨wealthier doesnt mean we should focus on climate and give up...

Rising temperatures and sea levels are already affecting food prices and making extreme weather events more costly. This is going to get worse and is projected to increase in costs to society over the next decades. This will also lead to global instability and climate driven migration, and those things should definitely worry us as a small nation.

[26/8/2026 1:47 pm] Daniel in reply to Andy:

> ‎⁨I definitely observe very strong opinions and feelings...

I think what's more dangerous is the illusion of unlimited growth in a world with limited resources.

[26/8/2026 1:48 pm] Andy: If Singapore keeps to international guidelines for environmental conservation (which they do) then it's enough- we need not try reaching for the moon. We are but a tiny rich man who wants to stay rich and get a little richer.

[26/8/2026 1:48 pm] Ethan in reply to Daniel:

> ‎⁨Rising temperatures and sea levels are already affecting food...

rising temp, sea levels carbon etc. is not something SG contribution is material for. even by eliminating SG. the above wont change.

[26/8/2026 1:49 pm] Daniel in reply to Ethan:

> ‎⁨rising temp, sea levels carbon etc....

Yes, but we can't expect other, less developed, bigger nations to sacrifice on their development while not doing anything as a rich developed country. That just doesn't work and is not fair.

[26/8/2026 1:50 pm] Andy in reply to Daniel:

Just enough to outpace and secure a place in the world, I believe SG is pragmatic enough to not reach for infinity. Big difference from stagnation.

Stop rowing and we'll flow backwards.

[26/8/2026 1:53 pm] Ethan in reply to Daniel:

this is idealistic and disillusional.

nothing is fair. the consequence of what you mentioned will be singaporeans take on unnecessary economical hardship just for climate purpose which is an imaginary restriction that we place on ourselves.

[26/8/2026 1:56 pm] Ahin in reply to Ethan:

good heart by forcing lower + middle income and sandwhich class to pay more indirectly when costs are increased through all these artificial restrictions

[26/8/2026 2:01 pm] Daniel: Good example with Indonesia. Those people burning crops to clear are quite poor, definitely poorer than the vast majority of Singaporeans. How can you tell them to sacrifice their economic uplift they get from doing that when you are not willing to do a similar sacrifice at your much higher wealth.

[26/8/2026 2:01 pm] Ethan in reply to Daniel:

[26/8/2026 2:02 pm] Ethan: likewise i'm definitely ok for us to remove our coral reefs for economic uplift of singaporeans

[26/8/2026 2:03 pm] Ahin: For me, I will better strike a balance... Look for solutions for both... Protecting coral and protecting future...

[26/8/2026 2:05 pm] Jun Ming: Ok so what benefits do we actually have. What are we expected achieve

[26/8/2026 2:06 pm] Jun Ming: Just like maju forest. If we removed the forest how many houses can we actually can achieve

This one is so obvious... Better do sers than destroy forest.... We have yet to maximize GFA plot ratio

[26/8/2026 2:07 pm] Jun Ming: That's why I am questioning what are the benefits and so we can find alternative

[26/8/2026 2:08 pm] Jun Ming: For nuclear as what I have mentioned we have floating offshore nuclear plant in the options. We don't need to reclaim it

1 stack X 4 (300MW) = 1.2GW.

Singapore need 13GW to power current and future economy.

Which is 13 SMR nuclear reactors silos per honeycomb.

3 merged islands can easily accommodate them.

Equivalent to an exhibition hall in Expo.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. We can improve plot ratio AND reclaim at the same time.

[26/8/2026 2:21 pm] Jun Ming in reply to Andy:

[26/8/2026 2:22 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

But hydrogen plants face the same supply disruption like the current fuel and LNG blockade - as it needs to import ammonia as fuel to do electrolysis of clean water or seawater to extract the hydrogen.

Because people can block ammonia export.

Come back to the square one - no energy security and sovereignty.

SMR one time purchase of uranium pellets or thorium and molten salts that can last for decades or century.

We achieve energy security and sovereignty like newater and desalination of seawater.

[26/8/2026 2:22 pm] Jun Ming: Or reclaim somewhere else

[26/8/2026 2:22 pm] Andy in reply to Jun Ming:

[26/8/2026 2:32 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

3. Military security and Home Team security will have to study the security risk of nuclear plants be it SMR (like securing the oil installation in Jurong Island).

4. Eg. Military & Home Team security assessment will study the risks of:-

a. Terrorist sabotage

b. Drone attack

c. Submarine UAV attack

d. Surface ship attack

e. Nuclear radiation spread

f. Denial of service - energy cut to mainland and economic damages

Etc.

5. Bomb explosion experts and nuclear radiation scientists will study the installation protection like:-

i. Type of reinforcement walls.

ii. Honeycomb silos separation and containment.

iii. Recovery and remedy if there are nuclear radiation leakage.

iv. Protection against direct bomb blast from missiles, bombs, drone bombs etc.

v. Study against natural disasters like earthquake, typhoon, flood etc.

[26/8/2026 2:50 pm] Andy: I don't know about nuclear plants.. it's especially difficult to take apart or decommission after they facility gets old in 100 or 200 years. It's also a huge vulnerability in an unstable world. Unless gov already has a plan in place. I wonder if this is really a long term solution. I can't deny the efficacy of nuclear though, high output for a small area.

Things like solar panels, wind farms can be more easily replaced, same for other forms of energy generation albeit less efficient.

[26/8/2026 2:52 pm] LCL (Danny 心) in reply to Andy:

[26/8/2026 2:55 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

Nuclear energy with the following design are almost failsafe according to many experts - and Singapore will be the 1st in the world that do such nuclear installation for SMR.

1. Offshore - 1.6 km safety distance from population.

2. Underground - break into 14 silos arrange in a honeycomb design.

Any leakage in 1 silo will not affect other silos in the honeycomb.

3. Multi layers radiation protection in gas cool reactors SMRs - underground, silo honeycomb, reinforced walls, multi-layer cladding, kernel the size of golf ball that house the nuclear fission chain reaction, auto shutdown of nuclear fission if leak detected.

4. Bomb blast proof from direct missiles, bomb or drone blast or terrorist planted bombs or IEDs.

5. Only a merged islands with high tech detection fencing, electric current shock protection plus ADF patrol can secure such a highly protected site.

No nonsense conservation should influence how this nuclear energy plants hub are designed.

And shoot to ...

if unauthorised people try to intrude into this Class A protected site - security classification higher than Jurong Island 1.

[26/8/2026 3:10 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

For longer term on our energy sources:-

Need to ramp up self sufficient green sustainable energy:-

1. Solar panels 2.5%

2. SMR nuclear reactors 70 - 90%

3. Hydrogen gas (if commercially viable) 10%

4. Geothermal (if commercially viable) 5%

5. Biofuel, palm oil - shipping

6. SAF - airlines

7. EV vehicles - cars, lorries.

8. Waste incineration 5%

Only nuclear energy can cover Singapore electricity power needs.

The rest of energy sources are very pathetic .

[26/8/2026 3:13 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

Someone mentioned, our population too big, that is why needs so much energy.

I want to revisit why we need a sizeable population to run our economy.

[26/8/2026 3:13 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

Anxieties on the population number are becoming bigger due to new citizens, PRs, foreign immigrants to complement our workforce and foreigners working in Singapore, the perceived overcrowding - are making some Singaporeans nervous of job competition, crowded infrastructure (such as MRT, bus, shopping malls) and that with AI boosting productivity can make do with lesser and smaller size population.

1. My thoughts are as follows :

a. Even though Singapore is a small size Country - an optimal size of population is needed to ensure :-

i. There is a need for sufficient sizeale talent pools to tap. Because not all people are born equally smart and intelligent. Some got talent to be Ministers and MPs for governance, some got talents to be in civil service to formulate government policies , some got talents to be CEOs, senior business management, some got talents to be Military commanders or Home Team commanders, some got talents for white collars jobs like STEM R&D researchers, professionals, engineers, some got talents as Suregeons, Doctors, Nurse, some got talents as Judges, Lawyers. some got talents as social welfare officers, some got talents in arts, culture, sports, some got talents as F&B, chefs etc, some got talents in finance, some got talents in Administrative jobs such as accounting, sales, corporate functions, some got talents in national security, police, prison staff, civil defence, soldiers etc.

ii. Doesn't means that we exploit AI, automation, robotics etc - we should keep our population small - and expect our populations to perform such a diverse comprehensive functions of our sophisticated and complex economic and industrial needs.

Even Superpowers like China, US, EU, India and Developed Middle Power like Japan, S Korea, Australia, Canada etc - cannot find such a diverse talents with a small population pools and need foreign talents to boost their population mix.

iii. Hence in addition to maintain our Singaporean population of 3.66 million, we still need complemented workforce and foreign talents to tap from - eg. 0.54 million PRs, 1.91 million non-residents to ensure Singapore Economic needs, Industrial needs, National Security needs, Social needs, Healthcare needs etc --- can be met.

iv. In addition, assume our 3.55 milion can meet all our talents needs in economy, business, jobs, governance, security, social, welfare etc --- we still need to ensure our economic outputs and productions - can be consume domestically - to support our Domestic Economy - that is sufficient people to spend their income to buy food, good, retail products, manufactured goods and services - so that our F&B, retail stores, manufacturers, banks, insurance companies, Stock exchange, malls, transport like taxi, bus, MRT, PHV, tourists spots like hotel, attraction etc can survive and thrive.

To summarise and concllude:-

So keeping about 6.5 million people as Singapore population is about right - be it our 3.55 million Singaporeans plus the rest - to keep our Domestic Economy to survive and thrive is absolutely necessary - as well as to cushion against any external shocks on our exports - due to geopolitical tensions and external wars.

7. High tech cameras, CCTV, sensors, and submarine UAV patrol around the merged islands run the clock 24x7x365 days.

8. Any intruders within 1 km of the merged islands detected will be arrested and interrogated for suspected terrorist activities or saboteurs in this Class A + protected site.

[26/8/2026 3:30 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

10. Machine gun posts against intruders coming from the road.

11. Anti armour and anti tank weapon posts against car, truck or armour penetration.

This will make the nuclear energy infrastructure like fortress and failsafe from likely sabotage that threaten the Singapore mainland lives as well as our neighbouring countries lives.

[26/8/2026 3:55 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

This is military strategy.

Let not discuss.

[26/8/2026 3:58 pm] Andy: Can get malaysia to sell JB to us then we have all the land to work with 😌

[26/8/2026 3:58 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

Sovereignty better don't discuss.

It can heightened sensitivity and unnecessary conflict.

[26/8/2026 3:59 pm] Andy: ok admin

[26/8/2026 3:59 pm] Jun Ming in reply to Andy:

> ‎⁨Can get malaysia to sell JB to us then we have all the land to...

I have thought of this before. Invade jb and make jb ours

[26/8/2026 3:59 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

I not admin.

Just a concern citizen.

[26/8/2026 3:59 pm] Jun Ming: But more lives will be killed

[26/8/2026 4:00 pm] Andy: Invasion is no go 😂

[26/8/2026 4:00 pm] Jun Ming: Like Venice as we develop people find there's a lack of resources and we invade

[26/8/2026 4:00 pm] REACH Singapore: 📢 Topic 📢

[26/8/2026 4:00 pm] Andy: The real admin clear chat liao..

[26/8/2026 4:01 pm] Jun Ming: But seriously if want reclaim do it once then for all lah. Like in fb just reclaim all the sea then we have all the land we have Liao

[26/8/2026 4:02 pm] Jun Ming: Then no more housing problem and energy problem

[26/8/2026 4:03 pm] Jun Ming: F nature since some people think it's for survival. Then after that next generation will thank us for nothing to develop as we have been the bad guy

[26/8/2026 4:04 pm] Jun Ming: Just a dock for ship to release goods can liao

[26/8/2026 4:16 pm] Hanny: My 2 cents for today’s topic.

Where the society is heading is pretty much defined by the majority with some constraints from the minority.

What’s in the minority can be a majority in the future. I can see the difference in my thinking and my son’s.

I believe in the gov efforts to protect our nature. Green areas occupy almost 50% of Singapore land. And it’s growing.

[26/8/2026 4:24 pm] Jun Ming: I lose confident in gov protecting nature when tengah estate was being build. When they say forest town doesn't look like one. Where the fog and mist have disappear.

[26/8/2026 4:25 pm] Jun Ming: And no one question that it is near tengah airbase

[26/8/2026 4:28 pm] Ahin: Got fog and mist meh.... if you see one at the advertising... it is "for illustration purpose only"

[26/8/2026 4:29 pm] Jun Ming: No before the forest was deforested there's fog and mist

[26/8/2026 4:29 pm] Jun Ming: I know because my house was facing tengah forest

[26/8/2026 4:29 pm] Jun Ming: Now no more liao

[26/8/2026 4:30 pm] Jun Ming: Some folks say the crow issue is because tengah forest was deforested and the crow living there get scattered outside

[26/8/2026 4:31 pm] Ahin: That's why... now at maju forest turn... Are we going to make the same thing?

[26/8/2026 4:33 pm] Jun Ming: https://news.mongabay.com/2026/08/as-singapore-culls-nuisance-birds-rapid-urbanization-continues-to-fuel-an-avian-boom/

[26/8/2026 4:34 pm] Jun Ming: Sometimes feels like sacrifice a small piece of land but the benefits it's not enormous  enough to justify the sacrifice

[26/8/2026 4:35 pm] Jun Ming: Just my 2 cents.

[26/8/2026 4:37 pm] Jun Ming: This is why a lot of younger generation wanted to stop gov for doing so. It's not like if you clear the land or reclaim this everyone will be a billionaire but yet most people lose something valuable

[26/8/2026 4:38 pm] Ahin: maybe we are kiasi and kiasu with our own future...

[26/8/2026 4:38 pm] Jun Ming: I don't mind if we reclaim somewhere with less ecological value

[26/8/2026 4:39 pm] Jun Ming: We have been sacrifice for this and that and then we realized our lives have not actually been improving much

[26/8/2026 4:40 pm] Jun Ming: So some Singaporean decided not to trade off

[26/8/2026 5:16 pm] 여자친구, 첫사랑 🏆: Just feel that, it's insane how the public was largely opposed to the deforestation of Maju Forest and Gilman Barracks and then they release that they're gonna destroy the 8000 year old marine ecosystem so quickly.

[26/8/2026 5:17 pm] 여자친구, 첫사랑 🏆: I pretty much think we are not a City in a Garden anymore is all greenwashing. Because planting trees cannot replace the capacity of naturally formed ecosystems.

[26/8/2026 6:00 pm] REACH Singapore: 📢 Topic 📢

[26/8/2026 6:08 pm] LCL (Danny 心) in reply to LCL (Danny 心):

> ‎⁨9. SAF should also deploy IADS (Integrated Air Defense System)...

12. Navy deploy Blue Spear 5G surface-to-surface anti-ship missile system against surface ships attack.

13. Navy deploy depth charge and torpedo to guard against UAV and submarines attack.

This will ensure a 360 degrees all round defense against the merged islands nuclear reactor installation.

[26/8/2026 6:17 pm] Hanny: We will never be able to satisfy everyone. Everyone has an opinion. I believe we are a bunch of people with very strong opinions.

Hopefully we can agree to disagree. We say what we can say and move on.

[26/8/2026 6:23 pm] Ahin in reply to LCL (Danny 心):

> ‎⁨12. Navy deploy Blue Spear 5G surface-to-surface anti-ship...

However, do we have Iron Dome? It only need one rudal to hit the facility.

[26/8/2026 6:23 pm] Ahin: Even Israel can't have 100% protection against Iran rudal

[26/8/2026 6:25 pm] LCL (Danny 心) in reply to Ahin:

> ‎⁨However, do we have Iron Dome? It only need one rudal to hit...

We have a more superior system than iron drome.

Iron drome is short range interceptor.

We can intercept medium to long range in addition to short range - with possibility of ballistic missiles interception.

And the SMR installation are underground and harden.

[26/8/2026 6:26 pm] LCL (Danny 心):

Even US GBU cannot dent the nuclear installation in Iran house underground.

And only US has the GBU - ground penetrating bunker buster bombs that can drill deep underground.

That means, our underground SMR nuclear reactors will be safe even if under sustain bombings.

> ‎⁨I pretty much think we are not a City in a Garden anymore is...

We are a city in a landscaped garden.

Less and less natural

More and more artificial

[26/8/2026 6:52 pm] 여자친구, 첫사랑 🏆: Yeah.

[26/8/2026 6:53 pm] 여자친구, 첫사랑 🏆: I mean it's quite complex. But they have traded natural ecosystems for similar species that aren't resilient or large enough to handle the current climate realities that natural ecosystems can.

[26/8/2026 6:54 pm] 여자친구, 첫사랑 🏆: But all in all is just bad.
