Consciousness Can Connect With the Whole Universe - Quantum Research proven

佛法 - 起心动念造宇宙

28 Sep 2024

"Your Consciousness Can Connect With the Whole Universe, Groundbreaking New Research Suggests.

This latest clue about the architecture of consciousness supports a Nobel-Prize winner’s theory about how quantum physics works in your brain."

佛法 - 起心动念造宇宙 have been proven by quantum physics. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a62373322/quantum-theory-of-consciousness/#:~:text=Your%20Consciousness%20Can,in%20your%20brain.

----

----

That is this attainment have been proven by quantum physics.

"If this quantum theory of consciousness tied to microtubules turns out to be correct, it could revolutionize our understanding of consciousness and even strengthen the trailblazing theory that, on a quantum level, consciousness is capable of being in all places at the same time. In other words, it can exist everywhere simultaneously, suggesting that your own consciousness can hypothetically connect with quantum particles beyond your brain, maybe entangling with consciousness all across the universe."

----

I think if quantum scientists continue to progess on this path of consciousness linking to quantum physics - they can even prove Nirvana 涅槃。

毗卢遮那佛 - 法身佛。

- Vairocana Buddha - Dharmakaya Buddha. (Origin of All Buddhas, All Enlightened Ones - that emerge from this Body).

Where other religions call it God.

----

I think finally the mystery of All Religions can be unravel in either our this lifetime or the next few lifetimes - if quantum physics continue to progess.

Eventually, all Religions will be Unified.

📢Topic📢

On 25th September, a faulty train that was withdrawn from service and on its way back to a depot caused extensive damage to tracks and trackside equipment near Clementi and Dover stations. This led to the disruption of train services between Jurong East and Buona Vista which is expected to last several more days with SMRT aiming to restore full services by 30th September.

💬What are your views on the train disruption and the measures implemented to address public transport needs while repair works are in progress?

📌Cause of disruption

On 25th September, an eastbound train encountered a fault near Clementi station and was turned around onto the westbound track. While the train was returning to Ulu Pandan Depot, a defective component of the train’s wheel set, known as an axle box, dropped onto the tracks which caused the wheels of one of the carriage’s two bogies to come off and severely damage the tracks and equipment on the tracks.

📌Extent of damage

Engineers have found 34 rail breaks, such as cracks or chips, along 1.6km of tracks between Clementi and Dover stations after overnight checks. The train also damaged three point machines that are used to divert trains to different tracks, stretches of the third rail on the eastbound track that supplies power to trains, as well as power cables and rail fasteners. The third rail serving the track into Ulu Pandan Depot is linked to the same power supply that serves the third rail on the eastbound track. Hence, when the defective train damaged the third rail, it also tripped the power supply to the eastbound track.

📌Repair efforts

Minister of Transport Chee Hong Tat said late on 26th September that more than 300 engineers and technicians from LTA and SMRT have been working day and night to carry out repairs and checks on the damaged tracks and equipment. He added that as the damage is very extensive, the engineers have to do this carefully, and it requires a lot of time.

📌Temporary Services

620 ground staff from LTA, SMRT, transport operators SBS Transit and Tower Transit as well as police officers managed the crowds during the morning peak period on 26th September. About 80 double-decker buses have also been deployed to provide free bridging services for affected passengers between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations. LTA and SMRT also carried out functionality checks on the axle boxes of all Kawasaki trains before these were put in service, and all passed the checks.

- I am unsatisfied. I feel a lot more can be done (please share your views below)

Adam, [27/9/2024 11:23 AM]

Its not a lot more can be done. Its a lot more could have been done

G, [27/9/2024 12:20 PM]

It's not satisfactory that hundreds of millions are planned to be spent on the white elephant "founders memorial" (and this amount doesn't include spending to upkeep) and we still have 35 year old relics plying our rail

Wee Seng Koh, [27/9/2024 12:38 PM]

It is crisis management in nature. Therefore, this was the best that can be done on short notice.

It further emphasises that public utilities cannot be managed by private entities, as it affects masses that are densely co-located with work environments.

Perhaps a pre-loaded drawer plan is required when the utility for crowd and traffic control is activated. Particularly when Home Affairs officers or similar entities are required.

Small and medium scale events / incidents.

G, [27/9/2024 12:49 PM]

How much is being invested in fleet renewals / proper spending on maintenance to upkeep the aging fleet?

To quote / paraphrase LKY:

Jun Wei, [27/9/2024 1:11 PM]

Agree with Seng Koh that this is already considered the best that can be done for such crisis.

As a stated-owned private entity, I believe, smrt are already doing beyond their scope in terms of providing shuttle services and on-time communications and updates of the situation.

What people tend to forget is that they are not obligated to do these.

If we are to present this situation to other countries, how it's going to be managed will totally defy your understanding of the public transport.

Comments online I saw are correlating the incident to politics, but they often also forget that people working in these organisations are not all pro-government.

Yes, travel plans are disrupted for me. I hope they just super gule the cracks and carry on the trains then they just fix their own shit during night. But then it got me thinking, why am I so affected by this incident? Should I be? Impacted yes, but affected? It should not be so. Because indirectly it means that part of my life is dependent on smrt train 😕

Ginie/Komal ZENDORA J, [27/9/2024 1:12 PM]

Why wait for inspection until break downs. Checks should be done everyday or weekly. Now they found 34 rail breaks cracks n chips. These must have happened overtime. The wheel came off😳 So dangerous. Thorough checks should be done everyday or weekly.

Ginie/Komal ZENDORA J, [27/9/2024 1:20 PM]

I like 2 discuss 2 more issues.

1) Drivers who cause accidents because of recklessly driving n causing death should be given more severe punishment. Isn't causing death, punishment death panelty? Then why 10 yrs or less ban from driving, for taking someone life? It should be 25yrs ban. Jail for 10 yrs. Innocent lives r gone. What goes through the family who loss their love ones. S'pore having more such drivers, pay fine few mths jail get away. Everyday u see speeding, reckless overtaking n road bullies.

Ginie/Komal ZENDORA J, [27/9/2024 1:34 PM]

2) Recently school or outside bullying have increased. What trama the kids go through is beyond imagination. Being alone, tortured. Sacred for life. Bulies like this no matter how young. Should get jail or children's home. whatever training they r sent to, should in done locked up. No outside world. What is happening to S'pore laws. Too leneint, that's why more bullies. Fighting everywhere

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 1:39 PM]

After iswaran get charged and price hike one major break down happens

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 1:45 PM]

I think there is a need for more information on alternative routes when mrt break down. Perhaps an AI to work out how to go to different spots even there's a break down more effectively

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 1:46 PM]

Cause just waiting for shuttle bus waste a lot of time

Nicholas, [27/9/2024 2:32 PM]

Read that the buses go in loops, causing frustration. Why don't the buses go stop by stop according to MRT station sequence?

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 2:47 PM]

1. When a MRT train is old and reaching end of life - unfortunately breakdown and more frequent maintenance is always the norm.

2. Just like our car reaching 10 years, breakdown on the road, more frequent maintenance as parts fail become a common phenomenon.

3. Based on this experience, it becomes a judgement call whether overhaul is needed or a total new replacement become imperative.

4. MRT train unlike car, if breakdown can cause the entire line to go down - because it is a serial sequential processing system.

5. When breakdown, the whole line halt. Thousands of commuters will be affected.

6. Also MRT train weigh in ton, and cannot be loaded onto a trailer or breakdown truck to tow it back without damaging the rail track if tow back by conventional means.

It is akin to a car with burst tyre, if still force to move, will damage the car axle and the road.

Hence the damage to the track is so extensive when tow back to depot for servicing.

7. But if total replacement of the old MRT train is the decision, I believe it will cost a mammoth amount of money running to few hundred millions of dollars?

8. Hence it is a judgement call - frequent breakdown causing such disruption, people late for jobs, schools, business versus cost for replacement of old trains.

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 2:48 PM]

Actually I wonder what is the average lifespan of a subway and mrt around the world

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 2:49 PM]

I realise Google maps does that for you

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 2:51 PM]

But... Maybe you can increase frequency on routes that is along the break down train station. (Non shuttle bus with bus numbers)

And a bus cannot compare to mrt so every min there should have a bus for the shuttle bus

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 2:52 PM]

And perhaps more guides to where to board the shuttle bus to avoid confusion.

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 2:56 PM]

I already expected at least a breakdown/year so yeah. Hope there's a plan for every station. It can happen anywhere any time

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 2:57 PM]

Worse case scenario the whole mrt system break down what will the bus companies and train companies do?

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 2:59 PM]

1. However one thing that worth mentioning, is that there are redundant MRT lines build in - in the entire MRT line system.

2. Yesterday I was discussing with my close friend the impact of breakdown between Buona Vista and Jurong East station.

3. It affects Clementi and Dover - as there are no redundancy lines to these 2 stations.

4. My child will need to travel from Serangoon to NUS to take his Master exam - can take the orange CCL line without the need to take the green EW line.

5. My close friend child can take the red North South line from AMK to Jurong East to work - a longer redundant route without the need to take the green EW line.

6. So the main artery lines are quite well covered - due to good planning and design by MOT and LTA - building in redundancy into the entire MRT system covering the entire Singapore.

That's when one main line is down, commuters can go by other routes.

7. Only those Singapore Polytechnic students are affected in Dover and those people and students living in Clementi are affected.

Hence buses, taxi, etc will need to cover these areas.

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 3:01 PM]

Good to note that Jurong regional line is coming up

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 3:02 PM]

Hope there's an additional line on West coast clementi area

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 3:02 PM]

Perhaps nus line

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 3:03 PM]

NUS can take orange CCL line.

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 3:04 PM]

But nus kind of big mah need to take school shuttle bus. From Kent ridge to other schools took about half and hour walk.

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 3:04 PM]

I am not from nus and sometimes I participate in some research so kind of inconvenient

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 3:04 PM]

[27/09, 3:04 pm] ☸️  Danny 心 Prompt: What is the lifespan for MRT train?

[27/09, 3:04 pm] Meta AI: The lifespan of an MRT train in Singapore is typically around 30 years, after which they are replaced with newer trains ¹. Currently, the oldest trains on the North East Line are undergoing a mid-life upgrade to refresh the interiors, decrease maintenance downtime, and minimize delays ². This upgrade is expected to be completed by 2024 ².

*MRT Train Replacement Timeline:*

- _2019-2024:_ Mid-life upgrade for North East Line trains ²

- _2021:_ Replacement of 66 oldest MRT trains began ¹ ³

- _2023-2025:_ Replacement of all 19 first-generation trains on the Bukit Panjang LRT ²

- _2026:_ Decommissioning and replacement of older trains with newer equivalents ¹

It's worth noting that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has been working to improve the overall efficiency and reliability of the MRT system, with efforts paying off in recent years ¹.

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 3:07 PM]

Maybe a LRT

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 3:08 PM]

That means another billions of dollars for MRT versus business case (ie. Can recoup the investment or not).

Or maybe a cheaper LRT could be an option.

But also must have a business case (ie. Sufficient ridership to cover cost).

This could impact our tourist industry, tourism business, tourism jobs and tourism investment - causing a dent to our GDP.

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 3:34 PM]

The tourism sector contributed on average 3 per cent of Singapore's gross domestic product over the last 10 years1. Tourism plays an essential role in reinforcing Singapore's status as a vibrant global city that is a magnet for capital, businesses and talent.

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 3:37 PM]

[27/09, 3:36 pm] ☸️  My prompt: Is heritage sites the most patronize by foreign tourists?

[27/09, 3:36 pm] Meta AI: Heritage sites are indeed among the most popular destinations for foreign tourists. These sites offer a glimpse into the past, showcasing ancient cultures, architectural marvels, and historical significance that transcend borders and time.

Some of the most iconic heritage sites that attract millions of visitors each year include:

- *Machu Picchu*, the ancient Inca city perched in the Andes mountains of Peru ¹

- *The Pyramids of Giza*, Egypt's majestic monuments that have stood the test of time ¹

- *The Great Wall of China*, a serpentine marvel that stretches over 6,000 kilometers ¹

- *Angkor Wat*, Cambodia's mystical temple complex hidden deep within the jungle ¹

- *The Taj Mahal*, India's stunning white marble tribute to love ¹

- *The Roman Colosseum*, Italy's iconic amphitheater that echoes with history ¹

- *Stonehenge*, England's mysterious ring of standing stones that has puzzled scholars for centuries ¹

These sites are not only awe-inspiring but also provide valuable insights into the cultures, traditions, and achievements of bygone eras. They are a testament to human ingenuity, creativity, and perseverance.

It's no wonder that heritage sites are often the most sought-after destinations for foreign tourists. They offer a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty that resonates with people from all over the world.

308. I post in REACH (Telegram) LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:15 PM] :-

Bullying is another issue that need attention.

I am alarm to see students get beaten up by bullies physically.

The physical harm and mental harm is not a small issue.

Often public are not informed how the bullies are punished and deterred from future acts - so that future bullies will be hesitant to be bully.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:18 PM]

Caning for bully should be reintroduce - and should be conducted in school assembly to instill fear and deterrence for bully.

Last time, this is done during my school times.

Also police will give talks and show videos how offenders are cane in the prison for fighting and physical assault to the whole assembly.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:25 PM]

I will suggest this steps:-

1. Reprimanding by school disciplinary master.

2. Counseling by counselor.

3. Mandatory caning in school assembly.

4. Police conduct video and talk session how bully, gangsters are cane in jail.

5. Police case.

6. Rehabilitation and constant monitoring to ensure bully repent and mend their ways.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:27 PM]

7. Also involve parents about their children as bully in the counseling session.

Parents must have accountability of their children behavior.

CNA News 25 Sep 2024 09:15PM

The police said on Wednesday (Sep 25) they had identified the teens involved in the incident, adding that "five of them have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a case of rioting".

"The police take a serious view of such acts of violence and blatant disregard of the law. We will not hesitate to take action and deal with the offenders in accordance with the law."

Education Ministry had said on Sunday that it takes a serious view on any form of bullying.

"When there are reports of alleged cases of bullying, schools will conduct investigations to understand the underlying causes of behaviour and take appropriate disciplinary action to help students understand the consequences of hurtful behaviour and restore relationships with those affected," MOE had said.

"Counselling support will be provided to guide the perpetrator and support the victim."

It had also added that schools also engage and work with parents to provide support for students within and outside the school environment by sharing the social and emotional skills taught in school, expected behaviours among students, and potential consequences arising from unacceptable behaviour.

G, [27/9/2024 4:31 PM]

How is SMRT leadership team personally affected by this? Will their bonus get cut and the money savings be channeled to boost the funds for maintenance?

Will LTA withhold more govt subsidies to SMRT so that LTA can spend and acquire more new rolling stock to renew the fleet?

We don't know if SMRT are obligated by contract with LTA to provide all these bus bridging services during breakdowns. But LTA has an obligation to Singapore to keep the public transport infrastructure well oiled and always work.

Especially since this PAP govt has championed public transport so much and made the main alternative (motorised private transport) so out of reach for the average person in Singapore.

In LKY's words, "it has to work".

Dr. Goh, [27/9/2024 4:43 PM]

Maybe hire competent engineers and pay them well? Learn from companies like Rolls Royce. The engineering managers are given power to overrule executives if technical decisions are made. You want the engineering teams to be able to go ahead with maintenance even if the top executives want to cut costs. Also, why not make cars affordable if public transport is not good enough? Bus services have gotten worse over time, mrt as well, and there is a huge influx of people causing demand for infrastructure to increase beyond what the system can manage. Let commoners own cars, scrap the COE bidding system, people can decide if they want to drive or take public transport.

The London underground is way older and it doesn't come with such serious issues. Even if a line breaks down people can go for alternatives. The price is also comparable to sg.

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 4:52 PM]

1. I used to be a car owner.

I own more than 3 generation of cars.

2. All my siblings are still owning cars, so are my close friends.

3. If putting my point for self interest - I will want Coe to be as cheap if not scrap.

4. But standing on national interest point of view, everyone knows that the road capacity, car park capacity - will not allow such a car ownership policy.

5. Many bigger countries such as New York, London, France, Beijing, KL, jarkata etc are having gridlock in their cities as cars stuck in jams for hours and cannot move.

Singapore will be worst with a small city state.

6. If car ownership is liberalised, the disruption to business, jobs, study, travel etc will be tremendous akin to a MRT breakdown everyday.

Dr. Goh, [27/9/2024 5:14 PM]

The reason every car owner drives so much is because the price is too high if they don't. It doesn't solve the issues with gridlock and despite overpriced ERP you still see serious jams where the gantries are.

In places like London people who own cars actually choose not to drive if they can take public transport. Cars can be as cheap as a few thousand dollars and are mostly used to get to places where public transport is inconvenient or too slow.

If cars must be out of reach, then public transport has to be way better than it is now. You cannot be telling people they cannot own cars while cutting down on bus services and public infrastructure and being all stingy with maintenance while increasing costs for the common folk. That isn't the right thing to do. Some countries offer free or cheap public transport and get resources by taxing the rich.

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:15 PM]

Where to park the cars when the city space run out of space?

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:18 PM]

Even if can drive, no car park to park if the whole country full of cars.

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:19 PM]

Taylor Swift concert, those who drive find no car park, go back to Clementi and park.

Then take train.

Make sense to liberalised cars?

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 5:19 PM]

Mechanical parking lots

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:21 PM]

This topic have been heavily discussed in WhatsApp REACH and find it not feasible.

Maximum height of carpark is 13 floor.

You extrapolate it to the whole city.

No office, no industrial park, no school, no shopping mall etc.

Only flats and carpark.

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:22 PM]

That's if you build 1 HDB flat for housing, you need to use 2 similar spaces to build 2 car park.

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:23 PM]

And no one can drive because if you drive from Changi to Jurong, no car park, you drive back to Changi in your car park and walk to Jurong.

Make sense to own cars?

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:24 PM]

The highest car park in the world is 13 floor.

You can't build a 50 floor car park.

Jun Ming, [27/9/2024 5:25 PM]

Like Taiwan no carparks

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:25 PM]

So if build a 30 floor flat, 4 similar size land space car park need to be build for cars.

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:25 PM]

Park in the sea?

LCL (Danny 心), [27/9/2024 5:26 PM]

Now is a pipe dream.

The moment nationalisation is introduced with SOE and more state control on private business barely a few years - the economy go for a free fall, rich investors run out of the country, resources inefficiency sets in, unable to bid for private tender in global market to grow the business, heavy tax on taxpayers to finance State Enterprise, drain on government budget.

Have you even been to China? Their taxi fares are like our public transport costs, door to door. In Singapore you pay typically 20 dollars for 1 way short trip. That's also because cars cost too much. In Singapore the members of the public pay for mistakes and costs while executives get overpaid for failing. If public transport were that great and taxi rides cheap, sure, no problem with not owning cars. But if you price it to be exorbitant and poor quality, might as well let everyone be able to buy cars. Public transport in many countries are actually better in their cities, still people own cars and don't drive them.

The point about parking is invalid. Been to many places and parking isn't a problem. In other countries people don't drive to concerts, they take public transport. Even to live football matches, most take public transport. Plenty of examples to counter your point about parking space. And if you really want to ensure enough space, limit the ownership of cars only to Singapore citizens above age 21 with valid driving license, maximum 1 each. Parking would not be a problem.

Now no time to dwell into it

LkY support privatisation.

Nationalisation is relevant only when country is at its infancy.

Privatisation will be the next Economic development stage.

The 3rd stage is globalisation.

Every stage of economy comes with different economic strategy.

It is not one solution apply to every stage.

LkY realise this and quickly identify his successors when different stage of economy take places.

Not everytime what work during his era works in the next era.

Mahathir try to force fit his arcade economic policy when he becomes 90 years as PM drag the economy down.

📢 Topic 📢

As of June 2024, Singapore’s total population reached 6.04 million, marking a 2 per cent increase from June 2023. This data was released on Tuesday (Sep 24) in the annual "Population in Brief" report by the National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) of the Prime Minister’s Office and its partner agencies. 4.18 million were residents, while around 1.86 million were non-residents.

The population growth was primarily driven by a 5 per cent rise in the non-resident population, which increased from 1.77 million in June 2023 to 1.86 million in June 2024, according to the report. The largest contributors to this increase were Work Permit Holders and Migrant Domestic Workers.

Based on the current average growth rate, Mr Christopher Gee, deputy director and senior research fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), projected that Singapore will have a population of 6.37 million by June 2030.

This is “comfortably” below the projection of 6.5 million to 6.9 million based on a government White Paper released in 2013, he said.

💬 What are your views on the recent population increase? What suggestions would you have for our population strategies to support a thriving people, a dynamic economy, an inclusive society and a resilient nation?

The rise in non-resident workers, especially work permit holders and migrant domestic workers, supports services essential to Singapore’s social and economic needs, according to a statement from the NPTD. These workers help with caregiving and fill roles that residents typically avoid, such as in construction.

At the same time, residents have continued to take on higher-paying jobs, with employment increasing in industries like financial and insurance services, information and communications, and professional services. The labour force participation rate remained strong, with low unemployment rates among residents and citizens.

However, among citizens, the number of births and marriages declined in 2023, while the proportion of seniors continued to rise.

📌 A growing proportion of elderly citizens

As of June 2024, 19.9 per cent of Singapore's citizens were aged 65 and older, up from 12.4 per cent in June 2014. This group is growing faster now compared to the previous decade. The number of citizens aged 80 and above also increased by about 67 per cent, rising from 85,000 in 2014 to 142,000 in 2024.

📌 Decline in Local Fertility Rates

In 2023, there were 28,877 citizen births, a 5.1 per cent decrease from the 30,429 citizen births recorded in 2022. The average number of births per year over the past five years (31,100) was also lower than the average of the previous five years (33,000). Additionally, the resident total fertility rate fell to a record low of 0.97 in 2023.

📌 Fewer marriages among local citizens

In 2023, there were 24,355 citizen marriages, 1.7 per cent lower than the record high of 24,767 in 2022, but higher than the 22,165 in 2019. The average number of citizen marriages per year in the last five years (22,800) was lower than in the preceding five years (24,000).

📌More transnational marriages

In 2023, transnational marriages—between a citizen and a non-citizen—accounted for 36 per cent of all citizen marriages, up from 33 per cent in 2022. Except for a decline in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, this proportion has consistently remained above one-third over the past decade. Additionally, non-citizen brides have become older and more educated at the time of marriage. Of the 28,877 citizen births in 2023, more than one in four were to couples made up of a citizen and a non-citizen.

We have had good feedback from this group, and we hope that we can keep the discussion robust and active!

Megan 😊

Wee Seng Koh, [25/9/2024 12:17 PM]

It is an inevitable outcome. The increase in population is primarily due to non-residents whether they are taking lower, median, higher income jobs, the concern is whether they would contribute to nation building, or take whatever benefits and leave the leftovers for the residents. This negative attitude will build lines, stratification, and with growth, turn the society into one which ONLY looks out for oneself, for others (non-residents, or naturalising residents) are doing it vehenmently. To further spin it, our residents would also pick up our bags, leave our homes, and do the same elsewhere. \

CK Lee, [25/9/2024 12:37 PM]

The rise in the non-resident population, from 1.77 million to 1.86 million, may alters the demographic landscape, affecting household formation and size.

On top of that the proportion of citizens aged 65 and above increased to 19.9% in June 2024.

More than one in four citizen births in 2023 were to couples with a citizen and a non-citizen parent.

This increased population density may also strain public services such as healthcare, education, and housing, leading to competition for resources.

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 12:43 PM]

I feel Singapore is overcrowded

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 12:44 PM]

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 12:49 PM]

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 12:50 PM]

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 12:52 PM]

LCL (Danny 心), [25/9/2024 2:10 PM]

1. In an ideal situation, our Singapore TFR is 2.1 and above - so that our baby birth will be able to replace elderly population in workforce and take care of the elderly.

2. In so doing, our population organic growth will ensure :-

a. Our Economy workforce continue to run smoothly with sufficient workers in the respective industry sectors and new economic sectors with the relevant skillsets.

b. Our Security institutions such as Armed Forces, Home Team etc are properly staffed with trusted workers to ensure Singapore security and safety - and safeguard our existence, survival and prosperity.

c. Continue to attract investors and business - as we have sufficient and relevant right talents.

d. Enough young people to take care of our elderly.

3. Only then, we will attract the right foreign workers in :-

a. Construction, domestic workers, elderly healthcare assistants, maritime maintenance etc blue collars -- whereby such jobs are shunned by local residents.

b. Home office, Nichce, high tech talents (eg. thermonuclear, green sustainability, quantum science etc)

4. But such ideal perfect scenario have not been forthcoming for many years - as our TFR have been hovering around 0.97 - way below our population replacement level.

Despite all efforts to get our residents marriage, give birth, work life balance, birth incentives etc --- our TFR continue to keep falling year after year.

5. This will have an adverse effect not only to our Economy, our prosperity and even be an existential threat to our existence.

a.. Not enough workers to run our Economy and business - investors leave, we lose jobs enmass, not enough talents to service the respective industrial sectors - our Economy collapse..

b. Not enough people to helm our Government, security institutions like Armed forces, Police, ambulance service, prison guards, fire fighting - that will threaten our very existence.

c. No good foreign investment will come into our Country - as our Economy is in limbo and we are in a security mess.

d. Not enough young people to take care of our elderly.

It will come to a point whereby our Country is no longer viable.

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 2:29 PM]

So human is the only thing that makes our country viable?

LCL (Danny 心), [25/9/2024 2:29 PM]

Singapore only resources is human capital.

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 2:30 PM]

What is the maximum population that Singapore can have actually

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 2:31 PM]

And what is the minimum population that Singapore can survive using the situation now

LCL (Danny 心), [25/9/2024 2:32 PM]

Only government knows.

According to the report.

It is 6.5 to 6.9 million.

We are still below this threshold.

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 2:34 PM]

I voted for infrastructure as I feel that with the limited land in Singapore can Singapore support so many people

LCL (Danny 心), [25/9/2024 2:34 PM]

* The next best alternative*

1. As depending on our TFR to ensure our Economy to perform well, our Security continue to be safeguarded - we need to ensure we get the right mix of population to replace our elderly population every year.

2. And the next best solution, is attracting the right mix of people - eg. Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian & others immigrants --- with the right skillsets or talents willing to stay in Singapore to ensure our Economy and Security to do well and not compromise.

3. Of course, there will be side effects by falling back to this next best alternative - to resolve our population replacement woes as rightly pointed out by the Government specifically :-

a. Employment opportunities and economic conditions

b. Infrastructure and services (eg housing, transportation)

c. Immigration and social integration

(The 3 biggest concen to our population --- and rightfully so).

And there will be some other smaller issues like :-

a. Family dynamics (eg. marriage and parenthood trends) - between locals and immigrants

Hence mitigating such side effects will become imperative.

Jun Ming, [25/9/2024 2:39 PM]

And I would also like to express concern on some jobs that is clearly dominated by foreigners and have overwhelmed. One such industry is massage. Idk how many massage shops out there but it's Seems to have so many. Walk a few steps than you will see one. And each one provide 4-5 or more foreign workers job. I not sure how does that help in Singapore economy

LCL (Danny 心), [25/9/2024 3:10 PM]

*Mitigating the impact of immigrants to resolve population replacement*

1. Employment opportunities and economic conditions

a. Government got to ensure that local population will have the best shots for jobs, career path, high income and sufficient nest eggs for retirement --- when Government welcome immigrants to our shore.

Looking at the job statistics, I am confident that this conditions can be met based on the education provided, Skillsfuture for continuous employment, and high income job..

The high employment rate for citizens and PRs, the high median income of more than $5,000, Trainng allowance for training upon retrenchment etc.

b. Infrastructure and services (eg housing, transportation)

This could be a current concern - as housing price is still high and the HDB flats supply are still ramping up.

But the trajectory of HDB flats supply are going up.

Notice that there are still many reserves vacant land.

Government plan between 6.5 to 6.9 million population - can likely to be accomodated comfortably. (I trust the Government).

Next is the number of ongoing MRT lines that are still being constructed eg. the Thomson East Coast line, LRT etc.

I feel that all these new lines should be able to accomodate the projected population needs.

To date, taking MRT and buses ---- it is not as crowded like pack to the sardines --- for this few years I realised - after pandemic until now.

But food court in some areas are more packed - eg. in NEX, Punggol Mall, Sengkang.

c. Immigration and social integration

This is an area I feel more improvement can be made - as noticed that some immigrants eg. Chinese, Indians, other nationalities eg. Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwanese, Western etc ---- will be quite distinct in the way they interact with locals --- as their culture, language, the way they talk and behave are quite different from our locals.

It still need sometimes for new immigrants to get acquainted with our culture - the way we talk, behave, study, work and play ---- before we can feel that these immigrants are one of us.

d. Family dynamics (eg. marriage and parenthood trends) - between locals and immigrants.

This issue is less worrying --- as it is confine within the family members between our local and the immigrants.

If they come to marriage and parenthood ---- they must have overcome many hurdles to get there.

G, [25/9/2024 3:51 PM]
Too crowded. Far too crowded. Too reliant on foreign workers.

📢 Topic 📢

Parents who escalate school issues unnecessarily and overstep boundaries with teachers are a minority, but they waste time and divert resources away from the wider school community, said Education Minister Chan Chun Sing on Sep 20. He was speaking on The Usual Place, a podcast by The Straits Times.

They write to the media, the Prime Minister, even the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau; one turned up at his Meet-the-People session, others have sent lawyers' letters to air their grievances. He shared these examples to explain why he recently highlighted the need to establish guidelines on how parents communicate with teachers.

💬 What are your thoughts on the new guidelines? What more can be done to foster a more collaborative partnership between parents and teachers?

At the Ministry of Education (MOE) Schools Work Plan Seminar on Sep 18, Minister Chan said that teachers are not required to share their personal phone numbers, and do not need to respond to work-related messages after school hours.

Official channels such as e-mail and office numbers should be used when contacting parents, and teachers should respond to work-related messages after school hours only in the event of emergencies, he said.

He stressed that the majority of parents are supportive of teachers and educators. But he said that the “small number” of parents who go overboard has a “disproportionate effect because they deprive the other parents of the time that the educators would want to spend with the kids”.

📌 Teachers are not ‘service providers’

Parents should see themselves as partners with their child’s teachers, said Minister Chan, rather than assume a transactional relationship with expectations and demands, as they would with a service provider.

Beyond creating entitled children or parents, he said such a mindset would have serious implications for the teaching profession. “Who will want to be a teacher?” asked Minister Chan.

📌 Why do parents behave this way?

Minister Chan said that perhaps now parents have a “natural tendency” to want to do more for their children, whereas in the past, parents “generally trust the teachers more”.

He added: “Today, I think a lot of people feel that, ‘Well, I’m also highly educated, then I should have a view on certain things.’”

📌 Best gift for teachers: Respect and trust

Teachers need the space and time to focus on helping their students realise their potential, and understand their strengths and weaknesses. This is the ethos that society needs to continue to help teachers with, said Minister Chan.

“Then they will get burned out quite soon. So I think we support our teachers by respecting them, and giving them the trust, time and space to do the best things they can for our kids.”

ChewyRuza, [24/9/2024 11:20 AM]

I think as some people shared on other platforms, parents aren’t really the biggest issues.  There are always unreasonable parents, but honestly, there are so many changes happening in schools and the system that I think the teachers get more problems with the school leaders and middle managers

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 11:36 AM]

1. Honestly, as parents, we do not disturb the teachers after school hours - because teachers have many other responsibilities after teaching such as mark papers, ECA, set teaching materials, prepare next lessons and their own personal time to spend with their own families.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 11:38 AM]

2. As working parents, we similarly also want our private times with our family members and friends - instead of tying up with work after office hours.

Wee Seng Koh, [24/9/2024 11:45 AM]

Teachers are not service providers... and parents should work in partnership with the teachers - i agree with the statement.

For parents / guardians to not text teachers after office hours, is not realistic. As the majority are working adults, therefore only able to make clarifications with the teachers (after discussing with their children/ward) at home, after work. Regardless is through personal text or email. Regarding expectations of respond, it would be better left to the individual teacher.

Hence i am agreeable for the proposal to be  guideliness, instead of a fixed general order.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 11:46 AM]

3. Imagine 40 parents need to interact with the teacher after school hours, then even 24 hours will not be sufficient for teachers to respond to school work.

This is unreasonable demands from the parents.

xXx.SCAR.xXx, [24/9/2024 11:46 AM]

There are good teachers and there are bad ones who don't care about their students, don't teach well or don't prevent bullying. Who knows who is right when the teacher is the highest authority in class.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 11:53 AM]

4. I will prefer a structure approach of attention from school teachers such as :-

a. After a lesson is taught and homework given, if students face any issue or problem to the lesson or homework, another day questions time to go through with students should be scheduled to allow interaction with teachers and students.

b. Periodic schedule feedback session between teacher and parents on the progress of the students should be conducted to give assurance and feedback so that steps can be taken to help the students improve.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 11:58 AM]

c. Understand that schools have students handbook that provide relevant information on login to school lesson, what uniform to wear, what activities, and portal for students of parents to post any queries etc.

That is there is a formal procedure in place to address any administrative queries of needs of parents and students.

Parents should then make use of the resources available instead of often relying on teachers to provide them the answer.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 12:13 PM]

5. And most of the time, why would a parent need to interact with teacher about the student homework?

6. Parents will just need to check with their son and daughter what lesson today and what homework today?

Any problem with lesson or homework, help the children to understand and finish up the homework.

If face issues cannot be resolved, take down the question and tell the child to approach their teachers the next day during school hours.

Then check with the child for progress the day after.

7. WhatsApp the teacher directly never come to our mind.

8. Yet it cultivate our kids to develop initiatives to solve the problems themselves as they grow older.

Not everything depends on parents to solve for them.

This has prevented children to rely everything on parents and teachers for small small things - and learn to find solutions for their problem.

Notice that children who are less reliance on parents to attend to all their needs - grow up to be a problem solver, ability to source solutions to problems and have more initiatives.

Not when facing problem, stay around and wait for help, parents help, teachers help - no help cannot move.

My sister always just complains about her maths teacher in sec 1 that he do not understand him and half of the class failing

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 12:37 PM]

If this is the case, the principal will have to find out what is wrong with the teacher.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:37 PM]

And I think as parents they would also like to understand what is going on when the child failed her exams. When their child got bullied. They are anxious.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:38 PM]

But in reality no action was done lol

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 12:38 PM]

This should be a structure session, not everyday ping the teacher.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 12:40 PM]

Simple, just enrol the child to a tuition for that particular subject.

I enrol my kid to a tuition class for a particular subject when he don't do well in his test.

Pinging the teacher won't help.

Once he improve, next level, he say he don't need tuition already, he can buy assessment book and improve.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 12:41 PM]

Alot of problem, we can solve ourselves, pinging the teacher won't help.

It just show whether we can solve our own problem creatively or not.

Because monopolising a school teacher for our children - are unfair to other children.

We just need to solve our problem using other means.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:43 PM]

Now her grades has improved as my sister who has the teachers contact number ask about the questions she doesn't understand after school and weekends.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:44 PM]

So my stand is parents no need to know contact number but students need to know

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 12:44 PM]

At the expense of other students and the stress of this teacher.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:46 PM]

I mean sometimes you feel closer to a teacher when he or she made an extra effort to have a group chat with the class and discuss questions on the chat grp.

One of the teachers also made an effort without anyone requesting to have extra online classes for the students at night.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:47 PM]

But I agree it should be a guidelines and it should be up to teachers to give their numbers to students

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:47 PM]

As teachers also need a life.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 12:49 PM]

If this teacher has capacity to go the extra mile, then it is this teacher initiatives and this teacher must know how to take care of his/her mental health.

As for the general guidelines, I agree with Moe guidelines not to release teachers handphone number to parents and students.

Also all interaction must be during school hours.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:50 PM]

I wonder if moe have a reward system that reward teachers with good kpi. For example the percentage of students pass fail and As

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:51 PM]

As I don't think tuition is a good solution

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 12:59 PM]

Kind of unfair if student needs to work 24/7 for their hw where teachers spamm hw in school holidays and after school despite long school hours and not marking the homework it in school and student cannot spamm teachers for clarification and workings. Further more some teachers don't go through the hw

There should be a guidelines that hw should not be given if the student is expected to leave school after 4pm to be fair

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:05 PM]

Else, one day we will end up no people want to be teachers because no work life balance, salary not commensurate with the stress, and poor mental health.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:06 PM]

Yeah just like no one wants to be student.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:07 PM]

Going to school feels like going to prison, and parents behind forcing you to go forward and no study life balance

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:08 PM]

Actually there are many students who do well without the needs for high maintenance.

It is whether the students are conscientious with their study and homework and whether the students are resourceful to solve their problems.

If other students can, why some students can't?

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:11 PM]

Most important, students must be self fired to pick up knowledge and skillsets as this is their own future and their own careers.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:11 PM]

Not all student is the same. Some need more attention, need more step by step guide. For some step 1-2 is a big gap where they need step 1.2  1.5 to explain clearly. They need someone by their side to explain things bit by bit.

And how much you can trust online materials as the correct way to the question for that syllables?

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:11 PM]

And not all student mindset is tuned to study

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:12 PM]

If not you will not see news reporting bullying in school

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:15 PM]

Bullying is another issue that need attention.

I am alarm to see students get beaten up by bullies physically.

The physical harm and mental harm is not a small issue.

Often public are not informed how the bullies are punished and deterred from future acts - so that future bullies will be hesitant to be bully.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:16 PM]

Idk how teachers actually handles bullying case

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:16 PM]

https://mothership.sg/2024/09/primary-school-bullying-video/

"Qihua Primary School student seen being kicked & punched by older youth in bullying video.

The boy could be heard saying, "It hurts," and "Sorry, I won't do it again.""

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:17 PM]

Often there's always needs a top down approach from the media, principal then teachers will made an effort to rectify.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:17 PM]

I think now cannot canned student liao right

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:18 PM]

Caning for bully should be reintroduce - and should be conducted in school assembly to instill fear and deterrence for bully.

Last time, this is done during my school times.

Also police will give talks and show videos how offenders are cane in the prison for fighting and physical assault to the whole assembly.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:23 PM]

Now I guess just counseling  then suspension and handover to police

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:25 PM]

I will suggest this steps:-

1. Reprimanding by school disciplinary master.

2. Counseling by counselor.

3. Mandatory caning in school assembly.

4. Police conduct video and talk session how bully, gangsters are cane in jail.

5. Police case.

6. Rehabilitation and constant monitoring to ensure bully repent and mend their ways.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:27 PM]

7. Also involve parents about their children as bully in the counseling session.

Parents must have accountability of their children behavior.

子女不教父母之过。

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:28 PM]

Also anonymous report

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 1:29 PM]

Often students are too timid to go to teachers as they post an higher authority

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 1:54 PM]

1. One parent told me, I see you let your son have his own initiatives to solve his own problem.

You seldom step in to interfere unless he seek help. Now I realise he is very resourceful and plan his career very well.

2. Conversely my children, everything I plan for them, give them enrichment class, pack everything for them, always need to sit besides them to supervise their homework etc.

Now they lack initiatives, don't think of future plan, less resourceful, less initiatives, everything depends on me.

My parenting methods got flaw. They become a mummy boy or mummy girl.

Your parenting methods is better.

This parent told me only a months ago.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 2:03 PM]

For slower students in a particular subject, the students should enrol in a normal class rather than in an express class.

This will ensure such students can learn in a slower pace.

When the students improve and able to catch up, then they can rejoin the express class.

Getting constant personal attention from the teachers at the expense of other students and the teachers personal time is not the way to go.

Because it exact a toll on the physical and mental health of the teacher, which in turn impact the rest of the students.

📢 Live: Iswaran convicted of 5 charges, has paid back $380,000 to the state

https://www.straitstimes.com/live-singapore-iswaran-trial-corruption

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 2:59 PM]

Also in university or IHL, no professors or lecturers will sit side by side to teach a student.

A student will have to attend lectures, read lecture notes, do tutorial, do projects, do assignment and solve the problems.

If the students encounter problem, they form study group or discussion groups to solve homework problem.

Else they search the internet for solutions.

Every students got to show resourcefulness to resolve their problems.

Professor or lecturers are only facilitators and teach only during lecture or tutorial class.

In their own time, they are tie up with their research works and other administrative stuff.

If parents and students cannot operate in such a mode, then I afraid students will have a hard time in their careers - as bosses employ workers to solve the business problems not waiting for bosses to teach them how to solve problem or throw back problem to the bosses.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 3:52 PM]

Of course. This only applies to secondary and primary school. As IHL is adult learning liao where there's freedom.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 3:52 PM]

You no need to ask for permission to go toilet

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 3:52 PM]

Just walk out and disappear as you like

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 3:54 PM]

After all it's a guide line. Good teacher will strive to continue coach students after office hours where those that think it's just a job will not bother. Actually nothing much will change.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 3:57 PM]

Cause before this guidelines teachers also can don't give their number isn't it

REACH Singapore, [24/9/2024 4:00 PM]

And there's always email out there for parents to spam. As the Chinese saying 上有政策下有对策。 Those determine to get the number will get it 😂.

As what I say both side must clap mah. Everyone needs a life. Not only teachers. Don't spam homework to students and pace yourself and discipline the class in a good manner, I think there will be no reason for parents to contact you.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 4:03 PM]

Responsibility lies on the students and the parents.

How a student want to do better is a matter of discussion between the students and the parents.

For example, I will talk to my child how is his lesson and homework, can cope?

Then if face issues, I will discuss with him what help he needs?

Eg. Write down the problem, seek help with teacher the next day during school hour.

Then when I come home, explain to me how the problem is solve.

I want my child to take his initiative how he solve the problems on his own.

If it is a bigger problem like unable to follow the lesson, then I ask him, does he needs tuition, I then arrange tuition for him.

When I see improvement, he will tell me, no need tuition, I buy assessment book to do I can manage.

Pressuring the teacher is the furthest away from our mind, as we know it is not realistic.

Because if 40 students can manage except our own child, then it is up to ourselves to resolve our problem.

If tuition still don't help, then I will schedule a time with the teacher and the school to consider downgrading the subject for my kid from express class to normal stream to learn at a slower pace, until he can cope.

This is a responsible parent and student.

Hanny, [24/9/2024 4:03 PM]

As a parent, I can see how demanding parents are. It starts from K class to JC.

Parents think they are entitled and send complaints to people higher up in the organization, even MOE.

First, MOE should not respond to this kind of complaints. It should be dealt at school level.

Teacher should have the authority. We cannot have teachers who are afraid of parents. I have seen that and that’s not healthy.

I like the idea of restricted hours. That would give teachers breathing space and decompress.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:05 PM]

Another thing that may help the teacher is maybe create a class WhatsApp group for parents. So they can discuss minor matters like what to wear for tmr, if their child forgets.

Hanny, [24/9/2024 4:06 PM]

Law makes it easy for teachers not to respond after hours. Expectation must be set.

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 4:08 PM]

And teachers got stress up again to be bother by parents what to wear?

Why parents cannot ask the children what to wear?

If don't know why child don't pay attention?

I thought every students have to record in student handbook?

Parents just need to do due diligence to check?

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:10 PM]

Teachers no need to care. In fact teachers no need to be in the group.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:11 PM]

Just a group for parents to discuss things just like how we discuss things here

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:11 PM]

You never see reach people interfere with our discussion

LCL (Danny 心), [24/9/2024 4:12 PM]

My experience tell me that the more protective a parent is over the child, the child potential to learn worsen.

Conversely, when we let the child manage everything on his own, as parents we just check his progress, the child do better.

In fact, never once, I and my wife sit side by side him to teach him how to do his homework.

Only when he encounter problem, then I will ask him how he intend to solve it?

And I will say ok or not ok.

I don't solve the problem for him.

This is how he grow up and become a problem solver.

And the last thing I will do is to ping his teacher.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:12 PM]

Then they will know more what's happening in the school

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:13 PM]

Especially nowadays got so many tee like uniform pe attire class tee house tee

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:13 PM]

I also confused

Hanny, [24/9/2024 4:14 PM]

Parents can create self help group to help themselves. Teachers can help organize but teacher should not be inside the group.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:14 PM]

Yes that's what I meant

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 4:18 PM]

So like say tmr is sports day what attire the class is wearing, parents can ask another parent about it if the child is in doubt. Where to report etc. As not every time report to school. There's one time I say report to stadium then parent can be suspicious lor. Not all parents read letters especially parents gateway is another thing that may annoy some parents

We need to be fair

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 5:29 PM]

I always think on both sides. Empathy with the victim and the accuse. There's always reason why an accused is doing a crime. Not just blame and boo on the accuse but also analyse what cause him to do this and improve on system or find a solution to prevent others and him for doing it again.

Jun Ming, [24/9/2024 5:33 PM]

I find that whenever someone commit a crime the first reaction is always served him right/ sentence too light, but no one thinks of why is the reason of doing it.

In this case he claims that he don't know the rules. So does that mean to take a test of the rules in order to become a minister? Or a qualifying election candidate?

As we head into the last quarter of the year, it is an opportunity to reflect on what makes our year-end and New Year celebrations special.

💬 Reflecting on your experience, what activities or elements do you most enjoy or look forward to at large-scale national events such as New Year’s Eve Countdown?

From performances to interactive installations, community activities to cutural showcases, we would love to hear what makes these celebrations memorable for you and your loved ones.

1. Synchronous mass drone display to usher in the countdown to a New Year.

2. It breaks tradition.

3. Display new high tech skillsets.

4. Demonstrate our drone military unit their polish drone drills in flying complex drone formation display.

5. Bring new surprises to the new year crowd.

6. And assure the population that we are ready in mastering our drone skills.

7. Our AI techniques in drone and robotics are ready to meet demanding challenges ahead - whether in AI jobs or new military requirements in reconnaissance or targeting or policing.

8. Once we master the mass drone display, can be extended to National Day parade as a section of military manoeuvres or cultural parade changing display with light in the sky.

Attending a fun non-crowded event (e.g. simple funfair) with wife and kids to celebrate the occasion. Event venue should be big enough to cater to the number of attendees so that it doesn't feel crowded (e.g. big field with shelter or hall).

LCL (Danny 心), [20/9/2024 12:27 PM]

1. Actually, government spending that are used domestically don't actually translate into losses in government budget.

2. In economic term, government spending domestically will trigger a multiplier effect through a circular flow of income, and contribute to economic activities and GDP growth.

3. For example, there is money spend to engage contractor to build stage, employ local artistes to perform, do decorations that provide business to decoration companies, etc - creating business and create jobs for domestic economies.

4. When this happens, GST, corporate tax, personal income tax will eventually go back to the government coffer, while helping business to make profit and workers get salary and bonus - indeed an economic multipler effects.

5. Even dishing out CDC or GST vouchers are not wasting taxpayers money as long as the money is spend domestically, triggering consumption - and contribute to GDP growth through multipler effects.

LCL (Danny 心), [20/9/2024 12:33 PM]

1. Government spending

2. Population consumption

3. Trade - exports and imports

4. Business investment

Are factors that will trigger economic activities resulting in GDP growth and multiplier effect.

LCL (Danny 心), [20/9/2024 12:37 PM]

1. In addition, such event celebration will have other beneficial effects such as:-

a. Spur confident that the country has done well and progress.

b. Inspire population unity by coming together to celebrate.

c. Spur domestic and foreign tourism, eat out in f&b, take transport etc - another multiplier effect of GDP contribution.

d. Sharpen the skills of organiser in staging big events and crowd control.

As only marina bay area have fireworks for cny eve and new year eve

Jun Ming, [20/9/2024 12:41 PM]

So I usually just lay down on my bed to watch Malaysia fireworks

LCL (Danny 心), [20/9/2024 1:18 PM]

Because drones have become a game changer as unfold in the Ukraine war and able to change battle outcomes on the ground such as:-

1. Long range, 24 hours effective and stealth reconnaissance - more effective than deploying reconnaissance scouts.

2. Precision target strike on armour, arty, troop concentration, penetrate trenches, ammo dumps, command and control post, airfields etc.

3. Small RCI (Radar Control Interface) - invisible to radar if drone is not metallic-made that make air defense ineffective.

4. Display capability to evade EW and jamming.

5. Complement troop shortages as an extended arms, ears and eyes.

6. Effective loitering and precision munitions.

Ability to stage synchronize mass drones display demonstrate such capabilities and our mature tech prowress in the new military capabilities.

LCL (Danny 心), [20/9/2024 1:31 PM]

7. Unlike fireworks that are pyrotechnics - that is once shoot up and display, it will be burn out, cannot reuse and pollute the air (not environmental friendly, not green sustainable).

8. Mass drone formation flight display are :-

a. Environmental friendly, not polluting the air as pyrotechnics

b. Can be reused

c. Equally exciting to optics similar to fireworks (maybe can incorporate audio into each drone - optional)

d. Demonstrate tech prowress and new defense capabilities

e. Inspire confidence in our defense

f. Inspire more techy to train on drone flights (as Ukraine drones are almost fully build and developed by commercial and hobby techy and supply to the military.

Many operators are hobby techy).

(Note:- the geopolitical tensions will require us to be prepared by 3 years times - in case major incidents erupted - and we are well trained and well prepared).

📢 *Topic* 📢

On 17 Sept (Tuesday), the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) announced in its 2Q 2024 Labour Market Report that foreign-owned firms, who make up 20% of firms in Singapore, employ 60% of Singapore residents (Permanent Residents or Singapore Citizens) in high earning jobs, which  are those who earn a gross monthly income of above $12,500 and fall into the top 10 per cent of income distribution. Overall, these firms provide jobs for nearly one-third of employed residents.

The move to release the numbers – a first for MOM – comes amid persistent anxieties from some quarters around job prospects for locals.

💬 What are your thoughts about the figures reported by MOM? What more can be done to ensure quality jobs for Singapore residents?

On the figures regarding foreign-owned firms, MOM said that they underscore the importance of attracting foreign investments and the global talent that follows such investments, in a way that complements local resident workforce growth and creates good jobs for Singaporeans.

It also added that foreign-owned firms create business for local small and medium-sized enterprises, which hire the majority of resident workers.

Other notable points mentioned in the report include:

📌  Job vacancies and unemployment rate

Job vacancies dipped slightly to 81, 200 in Q2 from 81,900 in Q1. However, due to a lower overall unemployment rate of 2% in Q2, the seasonally adjusted ratio of job vacancies to unemployed people increased from 1.56 in Q1 to 1.67 in Q2.

MOM said that more than one in five openings were in growth sectors like financial and professional services, which are associated with higher productivity and pay.

📌  Recruitment and resignation rates

The recruitment rate fell to 1.9% in the second quarter, down from 2.1% in the first quarter.

The resignation rate declined to 1.3 per cent in the second quarter, after holding steady at 1.4 per cent for four consecutive quarters.

MOM said: “The fall in recruitment and resignation rates is consistent with the longer-term downtrend, suggesting that employees are staying for a longer period of time in any particular job.”

It added that the recruitment rate in the quarter was higher than or comparable to pre-pandemic levels for some sectors, including transport equipment manufacturing – amid the global recovery in air travel demand – as well as health and social services.

📌 Retrenchments and re-entry rate of retrenched workers into the workforce

Retrenchments rose to 3,270 in the second quarter, from 3,030 in the first quarter, with increases observed in the sectors of financial and insurance services, as well as wholesale trade.

There was also a sizeable decline in the proportion of retrenched residents who found new jobs within six months. This re-entry rate fell to 55 per cent, from 59.4 per cent in the preceding quarter.

On the re-entry rate, Mr Ang Boon Heng, director of MOM’s manpower research and statistics department, said: “What it actually suggests is that more and more individuals are taking more time to seek out, to train for better jobs.”

In particular, Mr Ang noted that the re-entry rate improves significantly with time, to about 70 per cent at the 12-month mark.

Interesting data. More important is what we are doing to help more Singaporeans to have those high paying jobs.

Hanny, [18/9/2024 10:31 AM]

It is also worth noting that these firms chose to stay in Singapore.

Hanny, [18/9/2024 10:49 AM]

Foreign owned firms only make up only 20% of firms in Singapore. Yet, they employ 60% of residents with high paying jobs. We should get more of these companies in Singapore.

It’s important that we know this statistics.

1. For high paying jobs like > $10,000 a month, usually will be a manager, or a professional with minimum 10 years experience (except for few exceptions).

2. In my close circle, all are gainfully employed.

So indeed the rosy posture of good jobs are in synch.

3. Previously my boss will not say how is your break when I came back from reservist.

If my boss do say, I will tell him "oh I sweat to protect the country so that business can do well and the residents are safe and feel well protected".

Well politicians behave differently.

Their cheap but large quantity easy to make weapons can cause alot of damage.

Now US and NATO unable to ramp up production of sophisticated weapons for Ukraine - run out of ammunition.

Whereas Russia can churn out easy to make ammo faster than the western countries as a whole.

xXx.SCAR.xXx, [18/9/2024 12:25 PM]

The western world doesn't want Russia to win, nor Ukraine to lose. They just want a weak Russian state from where they can extract / exploit cheap natural resources.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 12:29 PM]

The coming decades is not a peaceful World.

We need to be prepared.

1. Continue to do well economically as the geopolitical tensions worsen.

Find niches to safeguard our economic growth and prosperity as the global supply chain get decoupled.

2. Prepare ourselves well by training well and invest in our military - to ensure we have strong deterrence and no one will think of adventurism on our land.

3. Hope for the best - that WW3 won't break out.

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:18 PM]

The thing is higher salary means higher cost of living which led to low demand in Singapore products?

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:19 PM]

But I want higher salary with lower price

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 3:22 PM]

In economic principle, this won't happen.

If we are looking at developed countries, eg. US, EU, Japan, Skorea etc that are highly developed, high salary come with high cost of living.

Because of salary induced cost.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 3:24 PM]

When cost of production rises (where salary is one of the factor of production), price of products and services rises to ensure business can earn a profit and not make loss.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 3:28 PM]

The only way to keep standard of living up, with higher salary and ensure can buy more goods and services is to improve productivity.

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:37 PM]

But looking at bigger picture people will import more from overseas rather than use local products

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:37 PM]

Which led to lower demand therefore companies may not sustain

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:38 PM]

As the cost of living is so high that people seek for the lowest price

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:40 PM]

Is this able to sustain for long period of time?

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:43 PM]

Cause now adays I started buying things in bulk from taobao where it's just so much cheaper

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 3:43 PM]

Eg. Of higher productivity:-

1. Previously, 10 truck drivers are needed to transport port containers to the warehouse.

Assume 1 driver salary is $3,000 a month, 10 drivers are $30,000 per month cost to the company.

But if increase productivity, using autonomous trucks are used, control remotely by one trained operator, company can pay him $6,000 (double the salary).

Still company save $30,000 - $6,000 = $24,000.

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:44 PM]

Which also means less people get employed

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:44 PM]

And more people lose job

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:44 PM]

?

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 3:46 PM]

Which means more higher value added companies come in, provide more such high value added jobs.

Then we have full employment for Singaporeans.

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:46 PM]

But for people without high value skills?

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:48 PM]

Those in poverty? Those elderly that do not have high education?

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 3:48 PM]

That's why must go up skill and train.

No shortcut.

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:48 PM]

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 3:48 PM]

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 3:49 PM]

This one no choice, do what is available.

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:49 PM]

The point is education must be faster than development thou

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:50 PM]

Imagine those that work 3 work and to feed children where got time and brain to upskill?

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:51 PM]

Overall it's a good thing but remember the least privileged

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:51 PM]

The worse condition

Jun Ming, [18/9/2024 3:51 PM]

And middle class struggling

Hanny, [18/9/2024 3:55 PM]

We need to remember that (net net) only 30% of the population gives money to gov. These are the people with good paying jobs.

Hanny, [18/9/2024 3:56 PM]

And Singapore is a socialist country with managed economies.

REACH Singapore, [18/9/2024 4:00 PM]

📢 *Topic* 📢

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 4:31 PM]

For those with lower income, there are the PWM (Progressive Wage Model) - a scheme that are designed for blue collar jobs to upskill and get higher wages up the progressive ladder.

For the upper tier, it is more knowledge base and upskill are through higher education and knowledge base training courses.

For lower tier, similarly there are those skill based jobs that can fetch higher salaries through PWM.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 4:40 PM]

Middle level tier also belong to the knowledge base tier and still can upgrade through formal education and training courses.

Upskill and skill training is a life long process.

Especially now and future whereby AI will hasten the speed of business transformation and skill obsolescence.

Previously, almost every year, new technologies come out and as a professional, we need to relearn and upgrade our knowledge.

Now with AI, the transformation is even faster.

Eg. Previously, we are trained in mainframe, then client-server computing come on board.

Then network come on board.

Network with protocols such as ipx, banyan vines are them replace by tcp/ip.

Then traditional server and  system integration is overtaken by virtualization.

Follow by cloud computing.

See even last time, IT skillsets need to constantly catchup.

We have to take new IT courses almost every year and get new certification.

Now with AI, I won't be surprised professionals need to get themselves upskill almost 6 months if lucky and 3 months if unlucky.

Training and upskill are constant.

If our workers are unable to upskill themselves constantly, high value added jobs with high salary - will be out of reach for us and we can't compete with the world for high value added investment that requires up to date skillsets.

Hanny, [18/9/2024 4:43 PM]

Even pmet needs to constantly upgrade their skills. Technology makes it necessary for us to upgrade.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 4:44 PM]

Yes no choice.

It is an imperative commitment the moment we enter into a job market.

Hanny, [18/9/2024 4:44 PM]

The good thing is gov is able to subsidize those at the lower end because we have sufficient number of people contributing at the upper end.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 4:45 PM]

Agree.

But also must help the lower tier to upskill so that they can be self sufficient in addition to tax transfer.

They can also live with dignity if they are self sustainable with their own efforts.

Hanny, [18/9/2024 4:46 PM]

@DannyCIN you seem to know IT from the yesteryears. Not many people knows ipx.

Hanny, [18/9/2024 5:06 PM]

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 5:07 PM]

Also MPLS VPN - those Cisco routers to remote sites.

And ATM network.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 5:09 PM]

Novell lan is a lan based network.

Cannot scale into wan - because of broadcast and not a routing protocols.

It integrate closely with its NDS directory.

TCP/IP are international standards that can scale in lan and wan - as it not only can do bridging, switching, it can also do routing and tunneling.

Even Telco routing protocols like those Cisco MPLS VPN routers run on TCP IP.

xXx.SCAR.xXx, [18/9/2024 5:16 PM]

Ya, I used to be in telecoms, then moved to aviation digital comms-nav equipment. Strangely, now doing AI but for human comms and Public Relations stuff. Still comms but different.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 5:18 PM]

For Novell lan to route to WAN to another organisation network - need to encapsulate IP header into IPX or ride IP on top of IPX before the router can route over Telco routers to the other organizations.

Hence Novell lan cannot last & die because of this limitation.

TCP IP come in and take over with LDAP.

LCL (Danny 心), [18/9/2024 5:18 PM]

Good.

This is upskilling.

I out of touch already in AI.
