13/12/23, 9:59 am - +REACH: *📢 Topic 📢*

Singapore has seen an increase in COVID-19 infections over the past two weeks. According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the estimated number of COVID-19 cases in the week of Nov 26 to Dec 2 rose to 32,035, compared with 22,094 cases in the previous week.

Major retailers are reporting a jump in the sale of items related to COVID-19 such as masks, ART kits, as well as cold and flu medicine, with figures ranging from a 20 per cent to a 50 per cent increase over the past few weeks.

*💬 What are your views on the recent surge in COVID-19 cases? How can Singapore better cope with rising case totals and ease the strain on our healthcare system?*

📌 Antigen rapid test (ART) kits

MOH said that it maintains a stockpile of ART kits and will release it to support retailers if the need arises. It advises the public to purchase ART kits in quantities that are sufficient only for immediate needs.

MOH has urged the public not to hoard ART kits as Covid-19 cases spike here. Retailers and pharmacies here have a sufficient supply and have placed fresh orders to meet growing demand.

📌 Hospitals are monitoring Singapore's Covid-19 situation

While MOH noted that the numbers of hospitalisations and intensive care unit (ICU) cases are not as high as they were during the pandemic, and there is no indication that the variants circulating locally are more transmissible or cause more severe disease, the rise in cases has added to the workload at hospitals, which are already busy.

The National University Health System (NUHS) and SingHealth said on Monday (Dec 11) that hospitals in Singapore are monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the country closely and are ready to increase their capacity if needed.

The NUHS spokesperson added that only people with serious or life-threatening emergencies – such as chest pain, breathlessness and uncontrollable bleeding – should visit the emergency department as this allows those in need of emergency care to be attended to quickly and helps to preserve hospital capacity for those who truly need acute hospital care.

📌 Combating fake news

Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said in a Facebook post on 11 Dec that information circulating online that the Government is planning to reinstate a circuit breaker is false. He also said posts and messages showing him endorsing commercial products were deepfakes. “These are all falsehoods,” DPM Wong said, urging the public to “stay vigilant and discerning online”.

13/12/23, 10:24 am - +Anti-vaxx: 1. I never take even 1 jab

2. what’s the purpose of ART lol

3. there’s a window period by the time you eat with your family you then u know they got covid you’re already exposed so……haiz why waste money??? 🤦‍♀️

Most importantly is tech children dun share straw utensils etc

13/12/23, 10:25 am - +Anti-vaxx: Keep your immunity strong

13/12/23, 10:25 am - +Frankie Wee: Govt said no need restriction Covid-19 when wave is not high rate

13/12/23, 10:27 am - +Frankie Wee: But maybe will come back wave 3 times appear new virus 🦠

Then plan aids, mask and hand disinfection. When there insufficient stock.

13/12/23, 10:29 am - +Rama: Take the vaccination as recommended and hope for the best.

13/12/23, 10:31 am - +Telephone number: Yes this is the best.

13/12/23, 10:31 am - +Telephone number: Please vaccinate yourselves. Don't gamble with your life.

13/12/23, 10:34 am - +Frankie Wee: Scare of vaccine will kill

13/12/23, 10:43 am - +Ben: It's a flu, and for those vaccinated it's a few days of feeling ill. This is not 2020 when we didn't know what it was and we were not protected. I've had 5 vax jabs and happy to feel I've done what I can. I don't think we need circuit breakers and isolation measures imposed.

13/12/23, 10:59 am - +Kenneth Lee WM: is bird flu more worrying?

is straitstimes, it was reported that nparks receive 7000+ bird issues feedback, they only manage to get about 100+ culprits!

all the public funds used to deploy CCTV and the staff in charge of bird issues, looks like the only good use of the person is to send a 6900+ responses saying that they are monitoring the situation. <This message was edited>

13/12/23, 11:02 am - +Anti-vaxx: lol people who take vaccination got covid and was worst than me and it’s a doctor

13/12/23, 11:02 am - +Anti-vaxx: She said she shouldn’t have take it

13/12/23, 11:03 am - +Anti-vaxx: I’ve know many who took it either died or Haiz……well those who are safe are really thank god

13/12/23, 11:03 am - +Anti-vaxx: TBH if you give me 1 million I will also not take it

13/12/23, 11:08 am - +Anti-vaxx: No one trusted me then slowly my mil sees her brother and her daughter father Inlaw died after taking the jab then she stops taking.

13/12/23, 11:09 am - +Anti-vaxx: As they go out market on the bus to public got people share the adverse effect after the jab what happens to them.

13/12/23, 11:18 am - +Ben: "I’ve know many who took it either died" .....         How many people do you know that had the vaccine and died?

13/12/23, 11:19 am - +Ben: Many people die in road crashes - does that mean you won't get in a car?

13/12/23, 11:24 am - +Terrie Wong: I will only take traditional Vax like Sinovax/Sinopharm or Novavax.

-  Hope they come up with vaxxes for the new COVID strains soon.

-  Will not take the MRNA ones.

Experienced sad stories of sudden deaths of people I know following those MRNA vaccinations.

13/12/23, 11:31 am - +Terrie Wong: Car crashes are due to unfortunate accidents due to exposure.

-  MRNA vaxx deaths are risks due to deliberate injections to the body of chemicals which have not had sufficient trial history.

-  Remember the deformed babies born after their mothers were prescribed thalidomide medication?

13/12/23, 11:36 am - +Anti-vaxx: 📸 Watch this video on Facebook

Last year i share tis video...china removed lockdown..."covid is just a flu"

13/12/23, 11:37 am - +Ben: It's everyone's individual choice of course - just not good to be spreading fear about a vaccine that doesn't just save lives, but also prevents serious illness. We know this because before the vaccine people were dying in their tens of thousands. After the vaccine was administered there are now almost no deaths from covid.

13/12/23, 11:39 am - +Frankie Wee: Covid-19 there is no cure in the world just the same like HIV.

Mankind creation history has long road battle and development new technology. Maybe Ai advanced can help

13/12/23, 11:39 am - +Ben: It's best to look at research and numbers, which are the closest thing we have to facts, rather than rumour, speculation and one-off events.

13/12/23, 11:40 am - +Terrie Wong: Am not against vaccinations just prefer traditional vaccines for myself & family.

13/12/23, 11:40 am - +Anti-vaxx: Fact is this is only for emergency

13/12/23, 11:41 am - +Anti-vaxx: Why it’s not mandatory approved reason being the trial test failed the white mice died

13/12/23, 11:41 am - +Ben: It was initially, but not now.

13/12/23, 11:41 am - +Anti-vaxx: Hence by international law it can’t be mandate

13/12/23, 11:41 am - +Frankie Wee: Hospital already full of room

13/12/23, 11:42 am - +Anti-vaxx: Learn to build own immunity for all virus and bacteria not only covid

13/12/23, 11:42 am - +Anti-vaxx: The cancer research are into immunotherapy

13/12/23, 11:42 am - ☸️  Danny 心:

1. After I stop wearing mask for a month, today I start wearing mask again when I go out .

2. Has taken 3 vaccination jabs and get covid once (minor symptoms).

3. All my family members have taken mRNA vaccination.

4. Didn't feel particularly fearful of the current spike in covid cases.

5. Just adopt same precaution measures like during covid - and now start to wear mask in crowded places.

13/12/23, 11:43 am - +Ben: "What does it mean that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has received full approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)?

Receiving full approval means the Pfizer vaccine now carries the FDA's strongest endorsement of safety and effectiveness. This is based on thorough research and comprehensive data review over many, many months."

13/12/23, 11:44 am - +Ben: I don't think you are allowed to post things like that here

13/12/23, 11:44 am - +Frankie Wee: Most of at place where spread and unhygienic

-Hawker did ppl eating spilled on table or bird poo

-bus or mrt crowded unknown carry infection spread touch or coughing

13/12/23, 11:46 am - ☸️  Danny 心:

Sorry are you suggesting this can prevent covid?

13/12/23, 11:46 am - +Frankie Wee: Our vaccine already expired there is no point contuine to vaccine mandates

13/12/23, 11:47 am - +Frankie Wee: Hmmm really don’t know but itself believe. If u want heal them then how many of them are deaths.

13/12/23, 11:48 am - +Rama: 🤷‍♂️

13/12/23, 11:48 am - +Rama: True

13/12/23, 12:10 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Those who are coughing, have sore throat, running nose or with flu like symptoms - advisable to do ART test to ensure the symptoms are not due to covid.

2. Because covid symptoms and flu symptoms are similar.

3. Notice that medications to treat symptoms for covid and flu are similar.

13/12/23, 12:13 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

4. When I got covid, I consume my flu medications - for cough, sore throat, running nose and fever - and I recover.

5. My wife got covid, see doctor in polyclinic and get similar medication - and she recover.

6. We experience minor symptoms.

13/12/23, 12:15 pm - +Terrie Wong: I am 70 yrs old & did not get COVID until recently. I was asymptomatic.

- I went to A&E for heart palpitations & they found I had COVID!

13/12/23, 12:16 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

7. Also if got covid, stay at home and don't go outside to infect others.

8. Be civic minded, fully recover then go outside.

13/12/23, 12:18 pm - +Terrie Wong: You wouldn't know if you got COVID if you were asymptomatic.

13/12/23, 12:41 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Arrangements of hybrid - WFH and WFO become useful to prevent infection from spreading within an office.

2. Split office into 2 working groups - interperse between home and office - will prevent office operations being impacted.

13/12/23, 1:09 pm - +SL: Take self-initiative in maintaining hygiene and wear a mask.

13/12/23, 1:09 pm - +Rama: Yes

13/12/23, 1:10 pm - +Caleb: +1, Hope MOH can faster approve Novavax jabs

13/12/23, 1:10 pm - +SL: Protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our community. 🙏

13/12/23, 1:11 pm - +Terrie Wong: Yes, Novavex hasn't released their new bivalent vaxx yet.

13/12/23, 1:20 pm - +SL: Novavax is for xbb1.5, not sure will this work for the latest voi - BA.2.86 - JN.1

13/12/23, 1:31 pm - +SL: This looks like the action taken in the past. Is it necessary in the current scenario?

13/12/23, 1:33 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Well, covid hike recently.

Based on science, to prevent spreading and causing strain to the healthcare system, this is one good way to curb covid spreading.

13/12/23, 1:34 pm - +Frankie Wee: My wife got Covid-19 3rd timer while I didn’t get infected we live together in room.

13/12/23, 1:34 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

But up to the boss and companies to determine if it is necessary.

Because the more of their staff go down with covid, it will affect their business operations.

So it is their judgement call.

Some companies I know are doing the juggling. <This message was edited>

13/12/23, 1:36 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Well same as me.

But hard to tell depending on which strains.

If that particular strain we have immune, then we won't get infected.

If kenna a strain that we have no immunity, we may kenna.

13/12/23, 1:36 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Eg. When I got covid the 1st time, my wife get it.

The 2nd time my wife get it, I don't.

13/12/23, 1:36 pm - +Frankie Wee: The future is case more Covid-19 pre-plan A and B

13/12/23, 1:44 pm - +Frankie Wee: Mean the world that no found cure and long way ahead

13/12/23, 1:44 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Not exactly AI will totally replace jobs

Some mundane jobs - yes

Just like computer revolution.

But to many jobs, AI trigger productivity growth phenomenally.

Previously when I use Google search, I take longer time to understand a new topic.

But after using ChatGPT, instantaneously, I got all the core ideas in minutes.

So productivity gone up tremendously.

13/12/23, 1:45 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Not sure.

I no longer tracking the covid strains.

13/12/23, 1:46 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

I think according to guidelines and standing order, if kenna covid, must isolate at home.

Cannot infect public.

But I think isolation no longer 10 days if I am not wrong.

13/12/23, 1:46 pm - +SL: <Media omitted>

13/12/23, 1:48 pm - +Frankie Wee: Anyone who has been before infection Covid-19 meantime will come back because of vaccine is expire.

13/12/23, 1:48 pm - +SL: WHO downgraded BA.2.86 from VUM to VOI last month..

13/12/23, 1:48 pm - ☸️  Danny 心: <Media omitted>

13/12/23, 1:48 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

It is 5 days isolation.

13/12/23, 1:50 pm - +Frankie Wee: But hope not zombie 🧟😅 by affect Covid-19

13/12/23, 1:54 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Also, previously, when I need to learn how to encrypt using VPN, I need to google search various configurations and try it on a simulator.

It took me a couple of days to make it work including testing.

Now I just use the appropriate prompt in ChatGPT, it generates a working copy in seconds.

And when I test it, it is very close to what I want with minor changes.

So AI cannot replace jobs - because will need humans to interface with live systems (cannot let AI ChatGPT interface with live systems - as the live systems will go haywire).

But AI ChatGPT do shorten development work phenomenally and improve productivity growth phenomenally.

13/12/23, 1:56 pm - +Frankie Wee: Development will work Ai improve and cryber security

13/12/23, 1:56 pm - +Frankie Wee: Ai engineer on going project

13/12/23, 1:56 pm - +Frankie Wee: https://www.morganmckinley.com/sg/salary-guide/data/ai-ml-engineer/singapore

13/12/23, 1:56 pm - +Frankie Wee: Very high salary

13/12/23, 1:57 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Also notice ChatGPT has produce another defect.

Other than  hallucinations (producing fake results), it now can become "lazy" (produce partial answer, and then tell you to work out the rest).

Suspected problem is that, it has run out of GPU resources - not enough resources to generate comprehensive results).

13/12/23, 1:58 pm - +REACH: *📢 Topic 📢*

13/12/23, 2:23 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Another interesting observation, creation of deepfakes video with audio that are of more than over 90% accuracy.

Very difficult to tell authentic or deepfake.

Although some commercial deepfake detectors say can detect deepfake video and audio - but not foolproof.

13/12/23, 2:33 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Deepfake are created by 2 algorithms.

1. Generator - based on training data set create the video and audio content.

2. Discriminator - pickup flaw features for correction - and make deepfake very close to real.

Creating a GAN (Generative Adversarial Neural network).

13/12/23, 2:36 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Deepfake detectors are using recurrent neural networks to detect any flaws in the deepfake videos and audio.

Basically use neural networks to fight neural networks.

A cat and mouse game.

Deepfake very hard to fight...

Only the victims can debunk whether the deepfake is authentic or fake.

13/12/23, 2:40 pm - +Ben: Can't even trust the news now! https://newatlas.com/home-entertainment/ai-generated-news-anchors/

13/12/23, 2:40 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

遇强,则强。

Like virus, kenna vaccine, mutate to survive.

AI GAN use similar analogy.

Adversarial Neural Network - 2 opposing neural networks fight - emerge stronger and stronger. <This message was edited>

13/12/23, 2:45 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Hence full digital authentication for bank access - very difficult.

Not multi FA.

In fact only 1FA.

Hence, need "air-gap" - to stop GAN equivalent - stronger and stronger scam methods.

Only "digital in, physical out" "OOB Out-Of-Band authentication" - can stop it.

By introducing the physical 2FA. <This message was edited>

13/12/23, 2:48 pm - +Rama: Taylor Swift video clip in Mandarin generated by AI!?😳🤦‍♂️

13/12/23, 2:49 pm - ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes.

Indeed.

13/12/23, 2:52 pm - +Smiley face: Wearing a mask is a preventive measure, but it is not 100% proven to stop any virus. (preventive)

Masks should be considered for people who are in close contact with people for long periods of time. (time & exposure)

In addition to medical staff, sales and catering staff are also staff who come into contact with a large number of people every day due to the nature of their work. (exposure & risk)

It's people's personal choice, either when you don't feel well, staying home and resting is the best option, or there are specific circumstances where people need to wear a mask, such as in a clinic or hospital. (self & choice)

📌 Antigen rapid test (ART) kits

Should these "mini epidemic" persist into 2024/25 and all of these respiratory related bugs are not life threatening for the majority of the population (meaning 95% or more are safe). Going forward, perhaps, the costs of procurement of ART kits by MOH can be better used for subsiding patients at the Polyclinics example is $5 ($10 for PR, $15 for foreigner) for Students up to age of 24 and Seniors from age 55 onwards and others to pay only $10 ($15 for PR, $30 for foreigner) for consultation and medications to treat simple cough/ diarrhea/runny nose/graded fever/flu. All fees are inclusive of GST.

📌 Hospitals are monitoring Singapore's Covid-19 situation

We have experimented, exposed and experienced what C19 have taught the world.

Our healthcare systems are holistic and well protected from actual stress.  Apart from our A&E and hospital beds, we have our Polyclinics/PHPC/CCF as one big buffer to handle mild cases while freeing hospital wards for more serious patients to be admitted.

📌 Combating fake news

"Here are the facts and there the fakes and everywhere are filled with doubts,  beliefs and opinions as to what is fact and what is fake!"

- - anonymity

The more a digitised country is, the more fakes to fact check! The spectrum of fact to fake will be a long and challenging task to align and to amend from fake to fact.

Rewriting the tricky tomorrow and the unknown. How can we accurately predict the future and most of the unknowns and yet to happen crisis? From climate to conflict; from disease XYZ to the disruptive of lives & livelihoods. Simply to answer all of these doubts in sentence is simple thinking.  In a highly complicated and complex world we are living in now,  how can human continue to live in many uncertain moments in time?

Just a few countermeasures to consider: You win or lose, you live and die; don't be overly worry/stress/fearful and live the moment and now. As for tomorrow, have courage and be brave to face it whether is going to be worse-off or better-off. It is today that matters most, who knows about the future, live your life to the fullest!
