Singapore must exercise caution on Terrex issue: China

He added that Singapore had not directly opened dialogue with China over the Terrexes, in expectation that the law would take its course.

“It is best this matter be handled through a proper legal process,” said Dr Balakrishnan. “No need to politicise it; no need to engage in megaphone diplomacy, so let’s have some patience.”

China is not happy and is still keeping the Terrex - because China expect Singapore to open a dialogue with China - but instead Singapore is letting the legal process take its course.

    Basically, China is "teaching" Singapore the way they want to deal with issues - that is important to them - Taiwan issues, South China Sea issues --- never mind even if it don't conform to International Law.
    
    Whilst, Singapore is "telling" China - that conforming to International Law - is a mean whereby Sovereign Countries should inter-operate - to preserve peace, to honor International Agreement and to resolve disputes.

      China position is that :- Singapore should no matter what (right or wrong) support China's position even at the expenses of losing our long time friends, partners or allies.
      
      Singapore position is that :- we treasure our relationships with our friends, partners and allies and rely on International Laws, International Agreements on top of Relationship to resolve any issues arising.
      
      This respective positions did not align - that is why China 不爽。

        (1) US
        (2) Japan
        (3) India
        (4) Vietnam
        (5) Indonesia
        (6) Australia
        (7) Taiwan
        (8) Mongolia
        (9) South Korea
        etc
        
        -- which one way or another held different positions from China - and China has also responded negatively to them.

          And the most important thing that if Singapore back down to China, then what will happen?
          (1) China in future will seize more things - the moment China is unhappy and do we have to back down again?
          
          (2) Dr M anyhow breach International Agreement and want to renegotiate water deal?
          
          (3) Plus many other such examples.

            Since you are so against China without knowing what our country have done in ASEAN meetings and dinner with US President Obama, I suggest you initiate a Protest in Hong Lim Park to demand return of our AGVs. Fuxx China in the protest. BTW, don't write in Mandarin since you hate them so much.
