[11:30 am, 25/01/2021] +: ๐Ÿ“ข Topic ๐Ÿ“ข

๐Ÿ’ฌ As Singapore tightens its measures against COVID-19 and steps up its vaccination drive, how can we as a community continue to encourage each other to observe these measures?

New restrictions and measures against COVID-19 ahead of the Chinese New Year period were introduced and these included to keeping to groups of eight, no shouting or cheering while tossing yusheng and dragon and lion dances cancelled according to Covid-19 ministerial task force announcements made on Jan 22.

More than 60,000 people in Singapore have already received Covid-19 vaccines and it is being rolled out faster, with seniors receiving vaccination starting Jan 27, added COVID-19 multi-ministry task force co-chair Minister Gan Kim Yong.

Nats

[11:34 am, 25/01/2021] +: You see ah, all these are just recommendations or advisories for now, big question is how to enforce (especially the first and second)? And sorry to derail but more and more people are starting to install CCTVs at their units when it's supposedly illegal to do so? Not like baotoh anyone got money to earn liddat, why people gotta be so antagonising huh?

Phyllis

[11:40 am, 25/01/2021] +: Many illegal watch dogs around our neighbourhood. Beware!

Caleb

[11:44 am, 25/01/2021] +: Everyone plays a part.

So when go ppl house, all make sure we follow law by law.

YT

[11:47 am, 25/01/2021] +: Yes, enforcement will be tough. Agree.

Caleb

[11:48 am, 25/01/2021] +: If not will get fine and jail.

This part need to be communicate tog with the guidelines

Nats

[11:51 am, 25/01/2021] +: For those who wanna be responsible hor, I suggest writing down somewhere who you//visited (either you visited or visited you)

Maintain some sort of a record at least

Caleb

[11:53 am, 25/01/2021] +: Take photo with whoever u met also can

Alvin

[11:53 am, 25/01/2021] +: We dun really encourage others. Sometimes a friendly reminder to a stranger might get challenged and asking for a fight. It’s just better to report the person. Unfortunately this means many others might “baotoh” other people and that isn’t how you encourage others. All I can say is it’s up to the government to carry out this encouragement. Reward those who follow the rules and others will follow suit. My 2.14 cents

Nats

[11:54 am, 25/01/2021] +: Prone to unnecessary baotoh tho

Caleb

[11:57 am, 25/01/2021] +: I observed that coffeeshops most don't put alot of the QR codes for SafeEntry for easy of customers to scan.

Can ramp up on this.

Since eating is high risk

[11:58 am, 25/01/2021] +: Parks and public basketball courts too.

My MP said the basketball court  is not require for SE.

Nats

[11:58 am, 25/01/2021] +: Parks don't have? Which park?

Ken

[0:00 pm, 25/01/2021] +: Err youngster mainly and who can make sure they scan? Lol

Caleb

[0:01 pm, 25/01/2021] +: MacRitchie Reservoir

Nats

[0:02 pm, 25/01/2021] +: Better than not having any SE to begin with

Not all youngsters are as irresponsible as you think they are

Linda

[0:04 pm, 25/01/2021] +: That basketball court has lot of youngsters coming to play.

[0:05 pm, 25/01/2021] +: Agreed

Berny

[0:06 pm, 25/01/2021] +: If i'm not wrong, the street soccer court near parc vista condo have SE qr code at the gate

Caleb

Alvin

[0:09 pm, 25/01/2021] +: It’s better to bring token or turn TT app on when going for sports

[0:09 pm, 25/01/2021] +: It’s the best way to track

Ken

[0:09 pm, 25/01/2021] +: Not all but it just take one person to start the infection among them.

Caleb

[0:10 pm, 25/01/2021] +: The coverage will be provided until Dec 31

Boon

[0:10 pm, 25/01/2021] +: Dear REACH, Shouldn’t the TaskForce or whoever recommended the CNY restrictions also come up with these guidelines? For one, please do not turn our community into a distrustful one where citizens will report on citizens, and household will report on households. Your question here has this really negative potential.

Caleb

[0:13 pm, 25/01/2021] +: So funny one. Then go stadium run need to do SE right?

[0:14 pm, 25/01/2021] +: Basketball is worst, run around in a smaller area

Nats

[0:14 pm, 25/01/2021] +: While I was washing my dishes I already thought of a reply to you:

If just one of them scan, if just one, also can help with the contact tracing if need be

Just one.

While COVID-19 vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of serious disease, this new data suggests the UK may have to rethink it's decision to delay the second jab.

CNA news on 22/1/2021 5pm and 23/1/2021 12pm - broadcast a segment on Israel vaccination drive - and Israel Health Authority project that the pandemic in Israel will end when the vaccination is completed in end Mar 2021.

[0:42 pm, 25/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Vaccination is the best hope to end the pandemic - Israel is showing the way - a shining model of impending success.

2. But meanwhile as many of us are still not vaccinated, we need to ensure covid will not spread among our community.

3. CNY is an event we cannot be complacent about - as many people desire to meet and people congregate with our loved ones.

4. This pose a real risk for virus to spread if we are not careful.

5. Hence I will urge for this year to observe the social distancing guidelines as meted out by our government.

6. As our turn for vaccination comes, bravely sign up for the vaccination.

7. I believe the doctors or staff nurses at the vaccination center will check each and everyone health carefully before administer vaccine for us to ensure we are suitable for the vaccination.

8. Should if a few rare adverse reaction happen, anti-allergy treatment can be administered on the spot so that such cases can be recovered on the spot.

9. There is real hope the pandemic will be over when our vaccination is completed.

But meanwhile we need to stay vigilant and ensure we will not trigger community spreading by being complacent in the coming CNY.

Ben

[1:17 pm, 25/01/2021] +: We raised the problem of this ambiguous language before. 'Impose a cap' is a clear rule. 'Should limit' means don't have to. 'As much as possible', is totally discretionary.

[1:19 pm, 25/01/2021] +: This is unhelpful communication and causes doubt, uncertainty and conflict among households. One parent says invite lots of households, the other parent says, no mustn't. How does that get solved? The regulations are totally unclear.

Matthew

[1:37 pm, 25/01/2021] +: No offence Ben, i personally find it quite clear. One is the law, the other is just a recommendation.

Nats

[1:38 pm, 25/01/2021] +: Nah man the point is to change these recommendations into something legally-binding so people don't have much option to do otherwise

Matthew

[1:38 pm, 25/01/2021] +: It's hard to enforce

Having something is better than having nothing

Alvin

[1:41 pm, 25/01/2021] +: the problem is we will create a culture of backstabbing if neigbours follow the advise and others didn't and they start reporting those who flout the rules

Seems like Pfizer-BioNTech and moderna vaccines - are our current hope now.

Both are not using mRNA.

[3:38 pm, 25/01/2021] +: 44 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, all imported

There were 44 new coronavirus cases confirmed as at Monday noon (Jan 25), all of which were imported.

The imported cases had been placed on stay-home notice on arrival in Singapore, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

There were no new cases in the community or from workers' dormitories.

Ben

[3:56 pm, 25/01/2021] +: It would be interesting to know the ratio of returning Singaporeans to foreign visitors. Do people on the same plane get told they were sharing with Covid positive passengers?

[4:05 pm, 25/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Just a question for MOH.

1. Will MOH evaluate if the vaccines such as AstraZeneca, spuntik that use virus vector and Sinovac, Sinopharm that use inactivated virus vaccines - effective against mutated variants such as the UK, SAfrica, Brazil strains?

2. If they are not found to be effective unlike the mRNA one like Pfizer-BioNTech, moderna or even our Lunar covid vaccine - will MOH consider not rolling them out as vaccines for our population?

3. As we do not have a choice to choose the vaccines we want, we need to be given the assurance that we are given a vaccine that does protect us for future mutations.

Caleb

[4:05 pm, 25/01/2021] +: Well the things is we don't even know how long the vaccine will last

[4:05 pm, 25/01/2021] +: So every year or after a period need to jab again

[4:06 pm, 25/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

That one come later.

A booster may be required.

But if covid dies out like SARS - a booster may not be required.

[4:08 pm, 25/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

4. We do not want a case whereby we sign early with Sinovac, we are forced to use it - even though it doesn't protect us from the mutated variants.

Ken

[4:08 pm, 25/01/2021] +: 2. Spend Liao unlikely to throw away bah..

3. If you get to choose then so call less effective one no one want

[4:09 pm, 25/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

We should look at medical outcome.

Not spend must use - if it doesn't deliver the right medical outcome.

[4:10 pm, 25/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Note that China health authority have not approve any of their vaccines yet.

At the same time, they are ramping up mRNA vaccines production.

REACH

[1:00 pm, 22/01/2021] +: At an interview to mark one year of Covid-19 in Singapore, COVID-19 multi-ministry task force co-chair Minister Lawrence Wong said that the authorities are considering introducing new restrictions and safeguards against COVID-19 ahead of the Chinese New Year period, where more intermingling is expected.

He also said that supplies of the Covid-19 vaccine will not be reserved for people who choose to hold back when their turn to get the jab comes, and will instead go to whoever is next in line. This is because Singapore's aim is to get everyone vaccinated as soon as it can.

Vaccinations will also help speed up Singapore's progress towards a more substantial reopening, added COVID-19 multi-ministry task force co-chair Minister Gan Kim Yong.

- Community (business, agency, school, sport centre, pa) need to increase awareness among residents. Awareness program should be continue and only reduced in frequency once a large number of residents vaccinated.

Caleb

[1:16 pm, 22/01/2021] +: *asymptomatic

[1:17 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Social distancing and wearing masks are still a must.

2. Ramp up vaccination is the only solution.

[1:17 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Both Ministers Lawrence Wong and Gan Kim Yong say will send invites to Singaporeans to book for vaccination.

They urge those invited to book to quickly book and not procastinate or wait for others to do so.

Because if people don't take up the offer, the booking slots will be given to others.

If people regret and want to rebook, they will have to go right behind the queue until new vaccine batches arrived which could be many months down the road.

As for elderly, please also book a slot for them, but ask for doctors to check their health and suitability for vaccination.

If doctors check ok to vaccinate, please let the elderly get the vaccination. This will offer protection for the elderly against covid.

[1:23 pm, 22/01/2021] +: based on the logic that, previously there were alot of cases being discovered and they were asymptomatic.

Ben

[1:23 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Exactly

[1:24 pm, 22/01/2021] +: 90%-95% less chance of catching it, thats all

[1:24 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Was never a choice, that's a luxury we cannot afford right now

Ben

[1:27 pm, 22/01/2021] +: My friend in the UK lost his mother after she had the vaccine. Of course people will associate the two. She was 80 and in good health, but died of a lung disorder. Unfortunately people at that age do pass, vaccine or not. It's inevitable there will be deaths following the vaccine, it doesn't mean they are connected.

[1:28 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Maybe because asymptomatic were passing it on to others who contracted symptoms. Otherwise why was it not detected earlier?

Ben

[1:29 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Both, yes. Outline the plan for vaccination programme in detail so people can buy into it and maintain discipline.

[1:29 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Why is it not possible to distribute a detailed plan, even if that plan has to change?

SL

[1:31 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Ic, thanks

[1:34 pm, 22/01/2021] +: I think yesterday they said they are changing strategic to aim for something before CNY

1. Vaccination is not only a Singapore drive to stop the covid-19 pandemic.

2. Vaccination is now the global drive to stop the pandemic.

[2:14 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. With 9 million people in Israel, 1/4 people or about 2 million are vaccinated.

2. And this lead to 33% decline in infection.

3. As layman interpretation, 25% of population vaccinated lead to 33% decline in infection - this is not even reaching the stage of herd immunity at 25% vaccination but yet contribute to 33% drop in infection.

4. So if Israel reach 80% vaccination, virtually the covid-19 infection in Israel will achieve zero infection.

5. It is a realistic projection that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine can stop the covid-19 pandemic in Israel if at least 80% vaccination is achieved.

[2:16 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

6. But the 20% who are not vaccinated in Israel must not get infected either through travelling outside the country or infected by overseas travellers.

2. Else the covid will start again within the 20% who are not vaccinated.

[2:19 pm, 22/01/2021] +: So any complications no need to worry cause Israel did it?

If any complication due to the vaccine what will we do? Just because of luck?

[2:19 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Singapore discouraged pregnant women or women doing breastfeeding from vaccination.

2. Israel on the contrary encourage pregnant women to get vaccinated.

I am not taking a stand here.

But will follow Singapore guidelines.

Ken

[2:20 pm, 22/01/2021] +: My wife I currently breastfeeding, so i will not allow her to take. Till the majority population takes it. If anything happens to the baby who answer for it?

Caleb

[2:21 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Can send regular updates on SMM instead of just the daily updates of cases on the Gov.sg WhatsApp Subscription.

[2:21 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Follow Singapore guidelines to refrain from vaccination for pregnant women and breastfeeding.

Ken

[2:22 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Then this information is not helpful in anyway. What are the countermeasures in place if any complication happen. Have the government propose anything yet?

[2:23 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Just because other country did it do we follow?

[2:23 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

For reference.

Information must be transparent and not hide information.

Ken

[2:24 pm, 22/01/2021] +: What are the current stand by government if complication arise after taking vaccine other than all the issue they scare you.

How they ensure that those that affected to be taken care as well.

[2:25 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Do they report on those complication affect how many?

[2:25 pm, 22/01/2021] +: If I see a clear picture on that would help us make a better choice.. not a threat that you might not get it.

[2:28 pm, 22/01/2021] +: Defer conception, so if they are pregnant and any thing happen to the baby.

They don’t care? Or if they are already pregnant what can they do? They cannot take till they give birth so they won’t get to be vaccinated.

[2:31 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/china-sinopharm-covid-19-vaccine-safe-for-children-teenagers-13967108

Vaccines makers conduct vaccines trial on children - Pfizer-BioNTech, moderna, Sinovac vaccines are on trial.

SL

[2:31 pm, 22/01/2021] +: I guess Israel take time to vaccinated most of it populations.

[2:32 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Israel achieve more than 20% population.

By march they target to cover all their population.

[2:40 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. I think we take comfort that Israel go ahead to vaccinate their pregnant women and breastfeeding women.

2. Even though Singapore is not following Israel, the world will take comfort that even pregnant women can be vaccinated successfully.

3. So in future, our guidelines can be adjusted with the new information coming in.

Ken

[3:21 pm, 22/01/2021] +: They take, unless they provide with the study results.. don’t think we can take comfort in anything.

[3:21 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Pfizer-BioNTech did not do a trial on pregnant women.

Hence Singapore government is not taking the risk by complying with Pfizer-BioNTech guidelines on the use of their vaccines.

2. Israel decide to do otherwise as they assess vaccinating their pregnant women have more benefits than risks.

Ken

[3:22 pm, 22/01/2021] +: If you have kids so young will you let your kids take it?

[3:23 pm, 22/01/2021] +: With no study done

[3:23 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

I will follow our government guidelines.

[3:56 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Doctors have to go through the medical history of every one before vaccination.

2. Especially elderly to determine if they are suitable for vaccination.

3. Thus those train in medical field are doing the vaccination.

[5:41 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

CNA news just reported that Israel vaccines effectiveness have drive covid-19 infection down.

Statistics projection that covid will go down to zero when herd immunity achieve.

By April and May 2021 will provide a full complete picture.

The world will have a good model of vaccination to follow.

Ben

[6:19 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

0.55%.

Ken

[6:20 pm, 22/01/2021] +: ... don’t anyhow lar

[6:22 pm, 22/01/2021] +: You can only confirm by testing..

Not those injected never test how you know they got it or not ๐Ÿ˜‘

[6:24 pm, 22/01/2021] +: 5.7 mil x 5% (based on the vaccine promised)= 285,000 still possible be infected

So vaccine is not the end game... mask will still need to be on.

[6:28 pm, 22/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Ken

[6:29 pm, 22/01/2021] +: 12.39 percent over 65 years old

5.7 mil x 12.39% x 5% that might be infected and might be seriously ill due to underlying disease.

35k old people will still be at risk.  So don’t think too much

Boon

[6:30 pm, 22/01/2021] +: The May’s World Economic Forum in Singapore is a great opportunity for Sg. However, If the current trend of infections that started from “imported cases” from controlled cross-border travels is enough to cause merit this warning, what are the Task Force’s plans for the WEF and post-WEF event?  How should Singaporeans prepare and what to expect?

REACH

[11:21 am, 20/01/2021] +: Additional measures may be needed to keep Covid-19 in check here, as community cases inch up and a local cluster has emerged for the first time in several months.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced on Tuesday (Jan 19) that to prevent the formation of Covid-19 clusters in high-risk settings, and to minimise risk of further community transmission, plans to reopen nightclubs and karaoke outlets specifically will be deferred until further notice.

๐Ÿ“ข Topic ๐Ÿ“ข

๐Ÿ’ฌ As the vaccination drive is being progressively rolled out, everyone must continue to play their part to stay safe.

How can we encourage others to stay vigilant and continue complying with safe management measures?

Covid-19 task force co-chair Lawrence Wong said the country has seen more new infected cases in the community in recent days, and a local cluster linked to a police para-vet.

He also added that contact tracers were working hard to identify all the possible contacts, ring-fence the potential cases and prevent them from spreading further.

There are also plans to set up 36 Covid-19 vaccination centres from February, These centres should be able to cater to at least 2,000 people a day.

[11:28 am, 20/01/2021] +: i think twice temp taking is not enough for workplace

[11:29 am, 20/01/2021] +: must remind all who do SE, it is like declare I dont have flu symptoms

[11:30 am, 20/01/2021] +: like what? go back to Phase 2 measure?

Alvin

[11:30 am, 20/01/2021] +: I think the virus have mutated that most symptoms don’t even show up now

Caleb

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: start charging people who pass thru SE, and have flu symtomps

Alvin

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: Ie cough or sneezing etc

Nats

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: Hi new Megan or old Megan with new number,

I see a lot of the problem is related to people refusing to see the doctor for any symptoms at all because of the fear of getting tested (whether the results come back positive or negative) cuz the issue is they don't want the inconvenience

I can only say this, how to encourage everyone to go to the doctor for any symptom at all is another issue altogether

Cuz apart from this, everything will be repeated again and again and then there'll be relative silence in this group again

Caleb

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: ya, the Questions is like all the same for the past few times

Alvin

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: Age old problem which I raised last year

[11:32 am, 20/01/2021] +: No worker will want to stay home 5 days MC

Caleb

[11:32 am, 20/01/2021] +: can the test be done quickly? so just give the 2 days MC until test result is out

Alvin

[11:32 am, 20/01/2021] +: Their bosses won’t look kindly on them also

Caleb

[11:32 am, 20/01/2021] +: or consider other type of testing, that have faster turnaround

Alvin

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: One year only 14 days MC

Valli

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: Should enforce to employers before entry to inside Job site or office , to bar anyone with flu symptoms from entry.

Alvin

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: If exceed become unpaid leave

Ken

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: MC really is tough for those work on operation related that requires hands on ๐Ÿ˜…

If MC too much also kena

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: So how?

Alvin

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: No one will see doctor in Jan

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: This year just started

Caleb

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: ๐Ÿ‘

Alvin

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: Maybe June then all see doctor

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: Lol

Ken

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: My site implement HL as part of the covid MC reporting.

So not 14 days but becomes 40 days

CQ

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: Temp checks are pointless, cos not every case will present with a fever. There are in fact many cases where Covid positive patients don't have a fever or the fever presents only quite a number of days later. It only serves to give a false sense of security imho

Caleb

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: HL?

Ken

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: But how many company can afford that ๐Ÿ˜…

Nicolette Tan

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: $5 or $10 under the flu subsidy scheme at PHPCs or polyclinics

Ken

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: Hospitalization leave

Nicolette Tan

Caleb

[11:36 am, 20/01/2021] +: so the current 50% of the time WFH is good, is got some symptoms, stay home and work.

Valli

[11:36 am, 20/01/2021] +: This is a good alternative by the employer. Employers should implement this.

Caleb

CQ

[11:36 am, 20/01/2021] +: Or during this period, the companies should just suspend their normal MC policy of like 14 days, cos you would've burst your limit by the 3rd time you get a "flu MC"

Ken

Alvin

[11:37 am, 20/01/2021] +: The company I work for mostly all return to work liao

[11:38 am, 20/01/2021] +: No one takes the safe distancing measures seriously anymore outside

[11:38 am, 20/01/2021] +: I see crowds during lunch time and at shopping malls

Ken

[11:38 am, 20/01/2021] +: That’s quite true... my Jurong island side already super crowded waiting for bus

Alvin

[11:40 am, 20/01/2021] +: So the question becomes how to balance economic activities vs safe distancing and health

Valli

[11:41 am, 20/01/2021] +: With no SMM in practise, can expect community cases to rise very fast

Ken

[11:41 am, 20/01/2021] +: Really don’t want to see a CNY surge ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿป

Valli

[11:46 am, 20/01/2021] +: Authorities should also look at the increasing numbers in imported cases. One slip-up by them, cannot imagine what can happen.

Should limit unnecessary arrivals by foreigners during these period crucial moments where cases are rising before it is too late.

Berny

[11:50 am, 20/01/2021] +: I think ICA is already limiting the entry, not too sure about now, but during cb and phase 1, foreigners need to apply for entry, subject to approval

Valli

[11:53 am, 20/01/2021] +: Why then is the high numbers in domestic workers with Covid coming in?

Berny

[11:55 am, 20/01/2021] +: Are domestic workers non essential?

Ken

[11:55 am, 20/01/2021] +: ๐Ÿ˜… no.. for some family they are very important

CQ

[11:56 am, 20/01/2021] +: I think the surge will happen, considering how many people still think "family lah, never mind", "we know each other, never mind". Macham like the virus can distinguish that

Alvin

[11:56 am, 20/01/2021] +: At home ppl don’t wear masks

[11:57 am, 20/01/2021] +: So if someone is infected and not aware will easily spread to family members

Berny

[0:01 pm, 20/01/2021] +: And personal hygiene

[0:02 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Dont forget that there are asymptomatic people walking out there and if they dont use tt or se, he,she,it is a walking time bomb

Should be mandatory.

[0:35 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Nothing has changed unless the majority of the people get vaccinated - as virus will still be lurking and infect the community if people don't observe safe distancing and wear masks.

2. Notice that some people have not conscientiously wear masks in public or maintain social distancing in the public.

3. When roster for vaccination come out, encourage people to get themselves vaccinated and don't procrastinate.

4. Will wait for the government advice on vaccination for 80 years and above - in lieu of news from Norway where about 30 elderly with chronic illness passed away after vaccination.

Valli

[0:36 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Recoveries are of the thought that they are now immune to the virus & do not have to worry about SMM.

Israel lead the world in vaccination - using predominantly Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Israel project it will be the first country in the world to get back to normal lives.

[1:47 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Israel follow by UK, US West Virginia - successfully innoculate elderly without bad news.

Norway is the only country reported death from elderly with chronic illness after vaccination.

YT

[2:02 pm, 20/01/2021] +: It could have been a case of vaccines that went bad due to improper handling (e.g. breaking the cold chain) etc.,

[2:13 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Don't know, Pfizer-BioNTech got to give the answer after verifying with Norway health authorities.

A news report that those elderly are terminally ill but still given the shot.

YT

[2:15 pm, 20/01/2021] +: I wonder why our SG government is so slow in rolling out the vaccine.

[2:16 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Vaccines are the only hope the world can emerge from the pandemic.

We have to be careful and yet determined to get people vaccinated to defeat the covid.

YT

[2:16 pm, 20/01/2021] +: The window closes the more we wait. As it is, community cases are rising due to inconsiderate and selfish individuals. So, if we wait further, there will be an explosion of cases again and vaccination won't be so easily organized.

[2:17 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Yes. This is the challenge.

100% moderna vaccines have been booked.

85% Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine have been booked.

Those who procastinate will have to use other vaccines.

YT

[2:31 pm, 20/01/2021] +: I don't think it's so much a case of  people not wanting it. But more of why it isn't available yet to the general public. The government needs to get cracking on this. Too slow in rolling out, in my opinion.

[2:31 pm, 20/01/2021] +: And why is it tendered to the private sector? Can't it be controlled centrally? Train the military personnel to do it? This is after all, war time, albeit a different kind of war.

[2:35 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Don't know...

Many doctors have their core duties and nurses are equally stretched - as vaccination is outside their primary role I guess.

In Singapore, restructure hospitals are our primary healthcare service providers.

Need to get the private sector involved else overall health care will be impacted.

US activating retired doctors and nurses to do the vaccination.

[2:37 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Remember adverse reaction from the jab needs to be taken care off.

Doctors need to check those frail before vaccination as well as treat those who have adverse response after the jab.

Valli

[2:38 pm, 20/01/2021] +: If any side effects experience after vaccination, is our medical expenses & long term treatment covered by Govt?

[2:38 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

I think adverse effect programme cover it.

Valli

[2:39 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Where is this programme mention or highlighted?

[2:43 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Top 10 things to know about COVID-19 vaccination:

1.    Only vaccines that are safe and effective will be used in Singapore. Only Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is approved for use now.

2.    We want as many people to get vaccinated as possible. Take the vaccination when it is offered to you. This will not only protect you, but also our loved ones (including those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons). This will help us open up our economy safely and protect our livelihoods.

3.    Vaccination will be free and voluntary for all Singaporeans and long-term residents.

4.    The vaccines are coming in batches. So vaccination will be carried out in phases, starting with priority groups. Healthcare workers are currently being vaccinated followed by our elderly residents.

5.    The vaccine will be offered to all Singaporeans and long-term residents by the end of 2021.

6.    As with all vaccines, there is a small risk of side effects. There will be doctors and nurses around to observe you for 30 minutes after you receive the vaccination.

7.    A vaccine injury financial assistance programme will support those who develop serious side effects. Few are expected to require this.

8.    When the vaccine is offered to you, you will be asked to make a booking before going to a designated vaccination site.

9.    Vaccination is important but it has to be combined with safe management measures, good hygiene practices, contact tracing and more extensive testing to deter and detect cases.

10.    Let us all play our part, stay united so that we can overcome and emerge stronger from this crisis.

[2:43 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Point 7..

Ben

[2:44 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Highly unlikely that would kill people..... seems an obvious thing they would know and not release to the public.

[2:47 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

If many countries elderly experience the same thing like in Norway, then the vaccines may not be suitable for elderly with chronic illness.

But so many countries are successful.

So wonder why Norway cases are so different.

Thus Pfizer-BioNTech must robustly pursue to find the answer and let everyone know.

Ben

[2:48 pm, 20/01/2021] +: The good news is that all of SIA will be vaccinated quickly. Good for foreign travellers and good protection for their staff!

Not sure is it right to talk about succession now when the pandemic is not yet over.

But DPM is a quiet achiever that many may not be aware of:-

1. He is a PPS of Mr Lee KY. No one who is brilliant enough can be PPS for Mr LKY - because he needs to be a strategic thinker who can cover the full spectrum of domestic Economy, social and political issues but also foreign affairs.

2. He is a brilliant senior civil servants in MAS managing Singapore monetary policy and subsequently become Finance Minister.

3. He adopted the ITM - the first strategic policy that meant to tackle the disruptive tech - that severely impact business and jobs - with strategic transformation to keep us competitive.

4. He co-chair Singapore and China annual economic meeting.

5. He strategically move to contest in East coast GRC when he will have comfortably stay in tampines GRC and win it.

China use "dual circulation strategy".

Ken

Remember Eminent GCT didn't speak well and MM Lee at that time commented him.

But eventually Eminent GCT show that he is a good leader.

Ron Ho

[5:16 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Brilliance, intelligence, strategist by themselves are very good traits - but they themselves are not adequate to be an effective leader. An effective leader is one who can captivate the people, who can point the direction in a manner than people want to follow and be led. In order to be an effective leader, great communication skills are required. You can always have brilliant and intelligent deputies who can provide great plans and strategies but the Prime Minister must be effective in delivering. Sadly, our DMP needs to improve vastly in the communications area.

Ken

[5:16 pm, 20/01/2021] +: All done so far was to prepare for disease X. But really if it is not so deadly no one will fear.

Only to a certain extend we can prepare for the disease X as panic is on a different level.

[6:16 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

How to be an effective leader:-

1. He must be competent - by getting solutions and policies right. And he must be visionary - able to see things that people can't see - and set the right direction.

2. He must be able to deliver and get people to back him (though initially people may not be able to see from his point of view.

This can be an iterative approach - like peeling the onion - consistent, persistent, progressive and the right outcome reveal bit by bit.

3. Despite all odds, even when many people rule him out, he is confident, preserverance and lead by example until its fruition.

4. Finally, he will win over the majority - those who support him, and those who did not support him initially.

5. It is this time and space DPM Heng will need and exploit to reveal his potential and solidify his succession.

Thirty-eight community centres and clubs (CC) that previously suspended distribution of the TraceTogether tokens will reopen today (Jan 18), said an updated advisory posted on the TokenGoWhere website.

๐Ÿ’ฌ As Singapore rolls out its vaccination programme, how can we encourage our community to stay safe and continue using TraceTogether?

TraceTogether tokens are part of the TraceTogether programme to speed up contact tracing and improve its accuracy.

The Smart Nation and Digital Government Office has said that there is no need to collect the token if one is already using the TraceTogether app, or is able to download it.

"TraceTogether-only SafeEntry will be implemented only after everyone has had a chance to collect a token in their constituencies, and a reasonable period of national distribution is achieved”.

REACH Portal - Reported 23 fatal case in Norway for 80 years and above with chronic sickness after Pfizer vaccination

17 Jan 2021

(1) With reference to the news article link below :-

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/europe/23-die-in-norway-after-receiving-pfizer-covid-19-vaccine-13-were-nursing-home-patients/articleshow/80304008.cms

(2) 23 die in Norway after receiving Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, 13 were nursing home patients.

13 of those deaths apparently related to the side effects of the shots, New York Post reported citing the health officals.

All 13 were nursing home patients and at least 80 years old.

Common reactions to the vaccine, including fever and nausea, may have contributed to a fatal outcome in some frail patients.

While officials aren't expressing serious concern, they are adjusting their guidance on who should receive the vaccine.

(3) Will our Government health authority check with Pfizer-BioNTech on the reported cases in Norway and advise the public - should the elderly 80 years and above with chronic sickness be receiving the vaccine jab from Pfizer-BioNTech.

(4) Understand that elderly and those in nursing home are slated for the coming group to be vaccinated - will appreciate if the Authority need to temporary halt those 80 years and above age and health group - while seeking clarifications on the safety of the vaccine on this age and health group.

Best Regards

Singaporeans should get vaccinated as soon as they are given the chance to do so, urged Education Minister and co-chair of Singapore's Covid-19 multi-ministry task force Lawrence Wong.

He cautioned against waiting for one's preferred vaccine choices and said that there is no way of knowing when one's preferred brand might be available, but gave his assurance that Singapore's vaccines are safe.

๐Ÿ’ฌ How can we encourage our community to get vaccinated?

The elderly will start receiving their Covid-19 vaccinations earlier than expected from later this month, as the Government steps up its roll-out of the vaccine, said Education Minister Lawrence Wong.

Another four centres will be ready in February, and more centres will be progressively opened as Singapore expands its vaccination programme, added Mr Gan, who co-chairs the multi-ministry task force tackling Covid-19.

[0:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: ๐Ÿ“ข Topic

๐Ÿ’ฌ How can we encourage our community to get vaccinated?

By having “benefits” after vaccination will “encourage” ppl to get vaccinated.

Eg, no need to scan TT or SafeEntry or allowed to travel abroad etc

Another way is putting a “expiration date” on their vaccination offer eg 1 year after receiving Sms the free vaccination offer will lapse and need to pay for own vaccine after that

[0:45 pm, 15/01/2021] +: My 2.14 cents

Will All the doses Of Vaccineis free Or

Only the first dose.

I think this is Another Important factor to Inform Public

[1:14 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

1. Those who get vaccinated after 2 doses - means will get protection from covid-19.

Thus able to get back to normal life - to pre-covid stage - when more people get vaccinated.

2. Those who are not getting vaccinated - means a good chance of getting the covid-19.

Such need to maintain social distancing, wear masks, possible to get infected and pass on to love ones.

3. As majority get vaccinated, people can work, socialised and Economy can open up.

4. Those who are not vaccinated still get to wear mask, cannot socialised - as there will be fear that others will infect them.

If majority get vaccinated, those who are not vaccianted (which likely to be the minority) -- will feel isolated and even feel "ostracised".

5. So those who can't get vaccinated like below 16, immuno-allergic, pregnant women - which cannot get vaccinated - as well as those who do not want vaccination - will feel the effects of "isolation".

[1:24 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

The final stage when government announced removing of masks in conjunction with world development.

Can't be after mass vaccination globally, humans still put on masks until the end of lives?

Spanish flu pandemic will also end and human go without masks.

But covid-19 virus will still be lurking around.

Those not vaccinated will get a chance of getting infected.

Berny

[1:32 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Even after the pandemic dies down, people should continue to wear masks when in crowded places. Over these past few months, because of mask wearing, the incidents of flu, and other illnesses have dropped significantly. It is a good practice and should be encouraged and if need be, legislated. Think about the lost productivity if one is out due to flu because some inconsiderate person sneezes or coughs in a crowded train or bus?

CQ

[1:33 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Agree! Vaccinated doesn't mean all caution goes to the wind

Nats

[1:33 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yea I don't get the stupid logic of vaccinated = no need mask anymore

Overlapping measures need to come together

[1:35 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

You mean when covid ends - government got to legislate and make every one wear mask including overseas travellers?

Fulgrim

[1:36 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I think the elephant in the room really is to ensure the safety of the vaccine

jimmy chew

[1:36 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Just curious, how you know flu is down ? ๐Ÿ‘

Fulgrim

[1:36 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Since they are various types now and the efficacy seems to be very variable

[1:37 pm, 15/01/2021] +: The trace together incident also makes it harder for pple to trust what the government says now

Nats

[1:37 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yea the end will not be so obvious, so we should continue the current measures as much as we can

Not many people are complaining about the wearing of masks, are they?

CQ

[1:37 pm, 15/01/2021] +: The last study I read seems to indicate that vaccinated doesn't mean you don't get infected. It's still possible to get infected, just that your risk of experiencing severe symptoms is greatly reduced and the virus shed is lower. But you can still kena and you can still be a vector.

Fulgrim

[1:38 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yah, one nurse In the us tested positive after she was vaccinated

[1:38 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

I did not say flu is down.

I am only asking so we expect government including global government to legislate wearing masks worldwide after the covid pandemic ends.

Nats

[1:38 pm, 15/01/2021] +: He did not refer to you LMAO

Fulgrim

[1:38 pm, 15/01/2021] +: US nurse tests positive over a week after receiving first dose of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine

https://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-states/california-nurse-tests-positive-over-a-week-after-receiving-pfizer-covid-19

[1:39 pm, 15/01/2021] +: From Reuters one. Don’t say I spread fake news

[1:39 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Bottom line

[1:39 pm, 15/01/2021] +: The vaccine was very rushed

[1:39 pm, 15/01/2021] +: So clinical info is still scanty

[1:39 pm, 15/01/2021] +: And our government has a history of tweaking the narrative to push their agenda ( for better or worse )

An fan

Fulgrim

[1:40 pm, 15/01/2021] +: And since this affects health, I think the biggest concern now is safety and efficacy

Ken

[1:40 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Vaccine is not full proof, hence mask still need to be on with the vaccine taken.

Fulgrim

[1:40 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Just asking us to inject and tell us cannot choose vaccine doesn’t assure us a single bit

[1:40 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Cannot just say “ just trust us “ can Liao hor

Ken

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: With vaccine and mask on, the chance for a major outbreak will drastically reduced

Fulgrim

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: This one is affecting health one

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I know where they are coming from in regards to control the epidemic

Nats

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: For far too long have people relied on the government blindly, as I preached before so it's of course time to use our brains to think for ourselves

Fulgrim

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: But I think sacrifice for the greater good has its limits also

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Gagahahaha

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yes !!!!!!

Ken

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: In the end we don’t want to over tax on our medical system. So that they can treat more serious case of disease.

Fulgrim

[1:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Democracy functions best when the citizens think !!

[1:42 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Like for me

Fulgrim

[1:42 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Don’t trust the media on their vaccine reporting now

[1:42 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Zzzzzzz

CQ

[1:42 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yep. If want to jab, of course we want the ones with highest efficacy. 50.4% is barely pass. Some unis won't even confer a degree if this is your average percentage...

Fulgrim

[1:43 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Latest news on that is that Brazil uses a different definition for infection

[1:43 pm, 15/01/2021] +: So even mild symptoms after vaccination is co sideted as positive

[1:43 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Hence leading to Lower efficacy

[1:43 pm, 15/01/2021] +: The us studies did not classify mild symptoms as positive

[1:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: That’s why looking at the clinical study is impt

[1:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Lots of China bashing also going around

Ken

[1:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿป‍♂️ media control is to prevent panic mah..

Don’t want to see people stock up again for pandemic also. We here also to discuss issues and voice our concern.

For me if no need I will wait awhile to take up the vaccine too.

Fulgrim

[1:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Though I do trust us standard more

[1:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It’s a slippery slope also

[1:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: When a little white lie slowly becomes deliberate malicious deception

Ken

[1:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: We are super low on freedom of press not that we don’t know

Fulgrim

[1:45 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Sorry, I am cynical one

[1:45 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Lolololo

[1:47 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Lord shamugam gives me the jail first and trial later type of vibe. Like very hardline

[1:47 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I find it funny why he never collect vivi when he first mentioned that TT is only used for COVID and not crime

Ken

[1:48 pm, 15/01/2021] +: But we have high freedom in internet just have curate what you think is credible news outlet and make your judgment yourself. Media is control but internet is not mah.. (err but I don’t really know how much so just assume it is high freedom)

Fulgrim

[1:48 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It’s unlikely all forget

[1:48 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yah I know

[1:48 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It’s like the us

[1:48 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Democracy is only as strong as the citizens

[1:48 pm, 15/01/2021] +: So the best way is to ensure the citizens are educated and can think for themselves

[1:48 pm, 15/01/2021] +: No better insurance

[1:48 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Against tyranny and manipulation

Ken

[1:49 pm, 15/01/2021] +: ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

[1:49 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Just to make my statement clear:-

1. Try to get majority vaccinated.

2. Wear masks until covid pandemic ends - announce by government in conjunction with world development for eg. where WHO declare covid pandemic over and can unmask.

3. Unmasks for those who are vaccinated - when confirm vaccines work (like measles, polio, chicken pox etc).

4. Those not vaccinated continue to wear masks until vaccinated?

[1:50 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

So there are no incentive not to get vaccinated - for those eligible to be vaccinated.

This is the crux of my message.

Fulgrim

[1:51 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Agreed but just a tweak

[1:51 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Vaccinated ones will undergo the same masking and Tracing as everyone else

[1:51 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Vaccinations are not foolproof

[1:51 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Better to not take Ang chances

[1:51 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Kaisu for the win !!!!

Alvin

[1:52 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Wow that’s grim news

Fulgrim

[1:52 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Not really lah

[1:52 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It’s expected

[1:52 pm, 15/01/2021] +: There is never hundred percent in vaccinations one

[1:52 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Now need to see what’s the percentage

[1:52 pm, 15/01/2021] +: There is always genetic variability among humans

[1:53 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

You mean when covid pandemic over - you expect government to legislate wearing masks for residents in Singapore and overseas travellers - when the whole world unmask?

[1:53 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

This is extreme paranoid.

Ken

[1:53 pm, 15/01/2021] +: This is news and click bait mah...

Reporting part truth and get high news worth. But what is the percentage never say ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿป‍♂️

Fulgrim

[1:53 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I mean now lah.  Your point 3 says that those who are vaccinated no need wear mask during pandemic

Nats

[1:53 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Can we stop this unmask agenda? Use your brains.

[1:53 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

A mental health issue.

Fulgrim

[1:54 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Sadly, that is where media is headed now

[1:54 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Pple want bite sized news nuggets

[1:54 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Not full page editorials like last time where you can actaully set the background and context clearly

Ken

[1:54 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Little effort high worth... they just a money making machine no choice

[1:55 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Point 3 after pandemic is over - not during pandemic.

Fulgrim

[1:55 pm, 15/01/2021] +: After pandemic I think all no need wear Liao

Ken

[1:55 pm, 15/01/2021] +: As people attention span drops in internet age, they just following trend

Fulgrim

[1:55 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Vaccinated or not

[1:55 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Agree.

Same thinking.

Fulgrim

[1:55 pm, 15/01/2021] +: That’s why Twitter is now becoming a news outlet

[1:56 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It should be the last place u look for news

Nats

[1:56 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Idk much about journalism but I'm sure I can ask my gf (since people got close friend, bff and what not I play gf lor)

The number of news outlets she goes to just to use as reference when writing articles, imagine!

[1:56 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Except those not vaccinated can get covid-19 infection if there are still virus lurking.

They are not protected.

Nats

[1:57 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Twitter is more like an actual news news outlet lol cuz people literally just say what happens at wherever, no need for MSM or aggregated media outlets

Fulgrim

[1:57 pm, 15/01/2021] +: That’s the problem, it’s almost entirely opinions and no editorial checking

[1:57 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Not to say MSM is much better but at least someone facts check

[1:58 pm, 15/01/2021] +: And u can throw the book at them if they screw up big time

Nats

[1:58 pm, 15/01/2021] +: You can't expect Twitter to play the same trump card they used against Trump lol

Fulgrim

[1:58 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Lol

[1:58 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Double pins

[1:58 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Puns

[1:58 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Many in the us are now conflicted that the MAGA club has control over free speech and media

[1:58 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Sorry

[1:58 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I meant FAANG

Nats

[1:59 pm, 15/01/2021] +: What's free speech if someone controls it? Lmao that defeats the purpose of "free"

Fulgrim

[1:59 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Exactly

[1:59 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Worse still if controlled by a corporation

Nats

[2:00 pm, 15/01/2021] +: A corrupt corporation that doesn't cooperate

Let me hear it: THREE PUNS! ๐Ÿ˜†

Ken

[2:00 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Lol you mean trump getting ban issue

Merkel say ban trump is against freedom of speech ๐Ÿคฃ

Nats

[2:00 pm, 15/01/2021] +: No ah the trump card then is reference to the ban

Ken

[2:00 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Which is true.. but no choice lol the government likely to be involved ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

YT

[2:01 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Calling for puns?

Rama

[2:24 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Heart of gold!?

Ben

[2:28 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Vaccination is not Immunity, so we still have to take precautions. Vaccination significantly reduces the chance of serious symptoms if you become infected. Vaccination is safe, and does you no harm compared to falling ill with Covid. Vaccination also helps prevent spread of the disease (not 100% but significantly).

[2:28 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I'd be interested to know why someone wouldn't take the vaccine?

Ken

[2:31 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Not totally true... there is slight risk, and for people with serious allergy are higher risk.

[2:32 pm, 15/01/2021] +: And due to the short time it takes to develop.. I myself have doubts, are we that advance now to develop something so fast?

So no harm wait and see... and the rest of the world like be vaccinated much much later due to the supply and availability.

[2:33 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Even if taken, we can’t go anywhere yet.. so many won’t rush, unless is front line workers

Rama

[2:36 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Dammed if we do, dammed if we don't!?๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿคท‍♀️

Ken

[2:37 pm, 15/01/2021] +: ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿป‍♂️ unless compulsory, if not unlikely it will adopt fast, since there is no big benefit in getting it early ๐Ÿ˜…

Rama

[2:37 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Agree

CQ

[2:38 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yah, me. I'm not rushing. Anyway I'd be all the way at the back of the queue in terms of priority anyway

Ken

[2:39 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I won’t be surprise if it become compulsory...

Other than Lawrence Wong say those not vaccinated will do more testing... not really convinced

YT

[2:40 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I read that the protection likely is about 3 months or longer. What happens after that? Need another jab? How does one know when the protection runs out? Does it vary from person to person?

Ken

[2:40 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Or they drop medishield coverage then yes.. you see the push to vaccinated

Ben

[2:40 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Correct, people with severe allergy are advised not to take it, so therefore won't be at risk.

Ken

[2:40 pm, 15/01/2021] +: No way to tell unless check your antigens...

[2:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: How we test for Hep B to get booster jab same logic

Ben

[2:41 pm, 15/01/2021] +: There is some harm in wait and see. We cannot open our country....

Ken

[2:42 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Take also cannot open up... ๐Ÿ˜… don’t think too much

[2:42 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Quarantine measures will still be in place as rest of the world are still at risk

[2:43 pm, 15/01/2021] +: With high vaccinated rate we can be a role model for other countries to follow ๐Ÿ˜…

Ben

[2:43 pm, 15/01/2021] +: We can travel if we want to, so that's not entirely correct. I'm choosing to not travel because I haven't been vaccinated. My mother lives in France and is due to be vaccinated in Feb. I won't go and see her until I'm vaccinated, because like I said before, vaccination is not immunity and I'd like to reduce the risks as much as possible for both her and myself.

Ken

[2:43 pm, 15/01/2021] +: And see if it works

Ben

[2:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Not really, there risk of Covid is far worse than the risk from the Vaccine, in general. We are not damned if we take it, we are damned if we don't.

Bobby Tan

[2:44 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I believe now is the best time to take the vaccine as we are not go anywhere. Maybe MOH should advise whether in future is the vaccine a yearly affairs, two yearly affairs? Or like chicken pot, only need to take once in life time.

Rama

[2:45 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Cost beyond two jabs!?

Ben

[2:45 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Depends what you mean by early. Q3 is August-Sept time. Doesn't feel 'early' to me!

[2:46 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Exactly - these are questions we have. I don't worry about the vaccine, so 3 months is better than no protection at all! I do agree we need more info.

Ken

[2:46 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Many diseases are different, it is not easy to develop life time immunity vaccine is totally depend on the characteristic of the virus ๐Ÿ˜…

Ben

[2:47 pm, 15/01/2021] +: You might be surprised how few country have quarantine measures. That's why this thing spread so fast and continues to do so.

Ken

[2:47 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Lol how to.. no money to test or capability to do such measure not surprised

Ben

[2:47 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yes, this might be like flu' and be needed annually.

CQ

[2:49 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Meaning that by the time we're done with the current round, it may be time to start all over again??

Ken

[2:49 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Likely... ๐Ÿ˜…

[2:50 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Anyway there is already so many variants already.. no one test on all we also won’t know till enough of us vaccinated to take it to the test

Getting vaccinated is part of the solution and we should embrace it. If there are concerns then yes people should not be forced. The Gov needs to give full disclosure and share what knowledge they have. Be open about what we don't know.

[3:02 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yes, it is very troubling. People being sent hundreds of kilometres away just to find available beds.

A simple logic for me:-

1. The longer we wait for vaccination - the chances of contracting covid-19 is there.

2. So when the roster to vaccinate come out, I will register together with my family to get vaccinated - to have a peace of mind we are protected.

USA predominantly use moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines.

Millions have been vaccinated without serious side effects.

Strange that the lady in the video is shaking.

Thus moderna need to robustly pursue to find out why that lady is shaking after taking the moderna vaccine jab.

[5:01 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

About 2 months for 2 jabs.

1st jab - 14 days to develop 50% anti-bodies.

21 days for 2nd jab.

Another 14 days for 2nd jab to develop 95% efficacy.

So is 21 days + 14 days = 35 days.

Anne

[5:14 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I will not encourage anyone to get jabbed, but I will not tell a person to never get jabbed either. Whether a person chooses to vaccinate or not is his choice.

When I share information, it is because I believe in informed consent.

The G tells us, anything you don’t understand, ask our “local expert”, or doctor. The problem I have with this is: it is highly unlikely that you can have all the information you need from your doctor. Remember the protest signed by thousands of doctors relating to the issue of providing information on all side effects of treatments prescribed? Doctors spend only around 5 - 10 min per patient, and within these 5 - 10 min you expect the doctor to tell you everything you need to know about side effects?

Then we have the media - mainstream and independent. The media is biased, whichever side they come from, that’s why I read all sorts of news. When the media is biased, they tell you a coin has only one side. The mainstream media will tell you that the coin has only one head without telling you that the coin also has a tail. The independent media will highlight the tail without mentioning the head. So I try to see both sides of the coin - the head and the tail. In this case, our mainstream media has decided to “educate” us that the Covid 19 vaccines are safe. So meaning if there are deaths or permanent injuries we may not be hearing about them at all.

A family member of mine has gone through serious illness caused by allopathic medicine. The side effect was caused by a combination of a cocktail of designer drugs she had been taking for years. So what this means is a drug may be ‘safe’ for short term use, but long term continuous use may cause very bad side effects. For Covid 19 vaccines the information that I never saw discussed was the repeated use of such vaccines. Flu vaccines need to be jabbed once every year. For Covid 19 vaccines, probably the same, maybe even once every 6 months. Can we know whether these vaccines continue to be ‘safe’ after years of repeated jabbing? Also, when a person or his family member or his friend got harmed by medical treatment, the ‘science’ and statistics may no longer mean anything to them. The way they view allopathic medicine is likely to be different from those who never had a serious negative experience before. So when you share the same information to different people, some will make one decision, others will make another decision.

The media has “educated” us that mRNA vaccines do not cause our DNA to be altered, and they stop at that - this is completely missing the big picture. Let’s assume the media is right. The problem is even if the DNA is not altered, our cells are altered. Now think of cancer. For many cases, the cancer cells do not appear out of the blue in the patient’s body one fine day. Usually such cells take years - many many years - to develop, and these cancer cells evolve from healthy cells. So, if the vaccine changes our cells, are there risks? Just think of cancer.

So why do I share such negative information and analysis? It is not to persuade anybody not to jab - it is about informed consent. Unfortunately many people think I am asking people not to jab, and that is not true. Before taking the step, we should weigh the risks against supposed benefits - I do not see any benefits based on the numbers data in the clinical trials but I may be wrong.

So, I will not encourage or discourage anyone to vaccinate. Think about this - you tell your friend to jab, and he gets a serious injury, you will get blamed for it, despite the rarity of this injury. If you tell your friend not to jab, and he gets Covid 19, he will also blame you for it, despite the fact that you can still get the disease after vaccination. People have a habit of blaming others when things go wrong instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. That’s why I only share information, and to people who are open and are willing to listen. I will stop the information sharing the moment i sense rudeness or the other party is not interested. I spent years reading up on natural medicine and vaccines (I admit I’m still not an expert and I make mistakes) and I refuse to waste time on people who do not respect what I share. Nowadays I am also very busy so my time is precious. To conclude, I will do is this: share information, do our best to share both sides of the coin, and let the other party make the decision without forcing or insulting them.

Ben

[5:14 pm, 15/01/2021] +: No. The vaccination doesn't give you the virus to prompt anti-bodies. There is no additional susceptibility to the virus.

[6:10 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Please remember vaccines usually take years because there isn't so much urgency. They are incredibly expensive to produce so the ROI has to be calculated. Rightly or wrongly, COVID vaccine was fast tracked because of the high death rate, high contagious nature and global impact on economies. Fast tracking just mean putting more people into the research, it is incredibly unlikely (I'd say impossible!) there is some sort of hidden effect we won't know about for 5 years.

[6:11 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Wonder will opinion change about procastinating the vaccinations - when suddenly community cases shoot up due to the more contagious mutant strains --- like our neighbors and elsewhere in the World.

Will suddenly panic strike and rush to vaccinate happens - if everyone procastinate until the end of mass vaccination.

[6:15 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

When there are no pressure and no fear of infection, many will want to wait.

When suddenly, things spread and get out of control - every one panic.

I explain this to my family members and extended family members.

My family members support my opinion - and will register to vaccinate once roster.

The allergic injury programme is in place and covered by the government should anything happen.

Life got so much uncertainty - when time is right to do a leap of faith - I told them just do it.

Fulgrim

[6:19 pm, 15/01/2021] +: No one saying there are hidden intentions

[6:20 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It’s just that side effects of new drugs are unknown and time and clinical trials are needed to test and catch any unforeseen side effects

[6:20 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I m sure the drug companies try to anticipate and cover as much eventualities as possible but the human body is complex and diverse

[6:20 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It’s hard to model for everything using a computer

[6:20 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

One good way is for the government to end the free vaccines by end Dec 2021.

Then people can decide whether to get the vaccines early.

Fulgrim

[6:21 pm, 15/01/2021] +: I don’t agree with any coercions

[6:21 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It’s essentially forcing pple

[6:22 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It’s should be voluntary

[6:23 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Not forcing people.

But incentives offer for those who vaccinate by end of this year.

Incentives end after this year. People need to pay for their vaccination.

[6:26 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Because vaccination centres cannot be setup perpetually - just waiting for people to change their mind whether want to vaccinate or not.

Ben

[6:45 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Agreed

[6:46 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Yes, but there have been millions of humans who have taken it,so not just using a computer.

[6:46 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It's likely it won't be free indefintely. The -70c vaccination  is expensive to store

[6:47 pm, 15/01/2021] +: It's not a coercion to end free vaccination, its an economic reality.

[6:48 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

Agree.

The longer people wait, the higher chance people don't have the mRNA vaccines.

Then those who wait will get the inactivated vaccines.

[6:48 pm, 15/01/2021] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:

With lower efficacy rate.

Ben

[6:50 pm, 15/01/2021] +: Important to note that it helps protect everyone if we all get vaccinated, not just the person having the jab. Therefore not having it also increases risk for  everyone. I don't mean to sound uncaring about that or for people to feel pressured. We do need to understand people's reservations and help address them.
