The attitudes largely differ from the hardline Buddhist teachings in Myanmar, particularly those propagated by ultra-nationalist group Ma Ba Tha and one of its firebrand monk leaders Ashin Wirathu.

Buddhism is a tolerant religion and will not condone the observation of precepts.

Killings and violence is the first top and utmost precepts that Buddhists will not and must not breach - because it is hell-bound and no Buddhists can gain Enlightenment in this lifetime due to the extremely bad karma.

Thus this Ashin Wirathu and his Ma Ba Tha group - are not real Buddhists - but have hijack Buddha's names for his own interest. He is equivalent to Devadatta (the evil disciple that is Avici Hell bound for committing atrocities like this monk) of modern time.

Universe - is has no beginning, no end - like a circle - beginningless, endless - based on Buddhism attainment.
A math depict this :-
     Dharma Wheel - explain the Infinity of Universe......

    From 0 (Black Hole) to Big Bang - Infinity of Universe....
    And then collapse into (Black Hole) and then Big Bang again - to another infinity of Universe............

    Just like :-
    0, 0.1, ...................................... 0.9999999........ 1 (1st Infinity Universe).
    1, 1.1, ...................................... 1.9999999........ 2 (2nd Infinity Universe).
    .............................. 9999999999999999 ............ Infinity Universe.
    and back to 0.......

    Emptiness = 0. (Nirvana ------- Law of Permanence).

    Form = Infinite Universe (Samsara - Law of Impermanence - ever changing of infinity - our straying thoughts is synonymous to the Universe celestial bodies of infinity).

Is it true that to scan the QR code for mWallet, the smartphone must have NFC (Near Field Communiction)?
If yes, then there will be one more big barrier for cashless adoption via QR - because many smartphone don't support NFC.

Many people need to change and buy a new smartphone that support NFC - and this will become a disincentive.
Many current model in the market don't support NFC.

Also i have been scanning QR code for web whatsapp - and my phone is not NFC - but it works.

Why does this mWallet QR code so special - need a smartphone that support NFC?

Also is there incentives to consumers by switching to QR code?
Only incentives such as discount, cash rebate will make people switch.

Cashless for the sake of cashless will not make people switch.

But alot of China brand smartphone also don't support NFC eg. Xiaomi, redmi.

Wonder how does China consumer scan the QR code for mWallet cashless payment if their handphone don't support NFC?

If China don't require and NFC phone to scan QR code for mWallet cashless payment --- then why Singapore QR code mWallet need NFC phone?

This will greatly reduce Singaporean adoption of QR code mWallet - because it is a disincentive for people to change phone just to support NFC.

Doramon Wang - yes QR code should not use NFC.
But notice in some store, it display mobile phone must have NFC and beside there is a QR code.

It cause some confusion - whether the mobile phone need NFC for mWallet QR code.

As far as i know, i have been using non-NFC mobile phone for QR code in some mobile apps.

If non-NFC mobile phone can be use for mWallet QR code - then a barrier to cashless payment will be removed.

Another confusion is found in this new article :-

"“If I want to use it, I have to change my phone, because it doesn't support the technology,” she said. “It’s more convenient to use cash for me.”
“For QR, all the hawkers need is a sticker with a QR code on their stall,” he said, adding that other forms of cashless payment options like the NETS FlashPay or Visa PayWave cards make use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

The above statement give the impression and confusion that the mobile phones need NFC to support mWallet QR code payment.

It confirm mWallet QR code payment - does not need a smartphone that support NFC, then 1 big barrier for adoption is removed.

never tried this QR code before. sounds complicated. dun like the idea of me having to key in amt in my phone...wat if my hands are full..caryying bags etc

isnt there a tap and go type... was just shown a luftansa credit card with wifi logo..and he says he just tap n go when in china.

Actually a danger of tap an go -- is the scammer.

All the scammer need is to have a scanning device - go near you (where you have a credit card or debit card with NFC) - and tap and go ---- your $$$$$ will be credit to his account via the tap-and-go scanning device.

Scammer cannot transfer your $$$$$ using QR code - because you need to key in your pin, activate your banks app, than scan the QR code with your phone camera, key-in the amount - before your $$$$ can be paid.

Scammer has no way to use a clone device to scan your "tap-and-go card".

true. but u get a notification on yr email wh is to yr phone..so any unauthorised payment can be almost immed detected. no known incidences of wat u said or this will be pulled off the mkt

Yvonne Goh - i saw a video where scammers walk with clone devices along a busy high-class shopping belts.
The scammers stole a huge amount of money by just tapping on women's bag and man's pocket.

Also you will get the bank notification (SMS) of the amount deducted only for a big amount eg. exceeding $1000.
Below certain amount, you will not received any SMS notification - with the tap-and-go card.

Also don't think banks will use public email to notify you of bank transfer - because email is a security risk.

Bank usually use your mobile number for notification in the form of sms - specifically SMS otp (one time password) as sms are used by all banks for 2FA authentication - a secured security measure for internet banking.

I think Singapore should further improve military relationship with China.
Having say so, we should not drop our military relationship with US - because relationship should not be a zero-sum game.
It cannot be a situation - whereby we make one friend but drop an old friend.

Having good military relationship with both China and US ---- will be vital if one day, tension between the 2 Superpowers suddenly heighten - and Singapore will be able to play a good mediator role - to cool tension between the 2 Superpowers

Having say so, should it or should it not apply the same to Taiwan?
Should we not play a mediator role between China and Taiwan - if things go sour?

After all, both China and Taiwan - share the same blood.
So is most of Singapore Chinese.

Will it be even easier if Singapore play a better mediator role - if Singapore have relationship with both China and Taiwan ---- and this will make the mediation much easier?

When Singapore is in need for training space, Taiwan extend its generosity to Singapore when in need of help.
Can we let go of Taiwan - just when Taiwan relationship with China is now in bad shape?

Similarly, in future if someone force us to let go of China in exchange for other benefits - can we just let go of China in exchange for something better?

The status quo should remain. China's assertive stance will turn Singapore into a ball kicked by U.S. or China. They should deal with North Korea. Singapore is NOT China's vassal state nor the U.S., we must have stronger ties with our neighbours than these two. After all, Taiwan is no threat to China. Same for Singapore. Mind our own and their business.

Steve Bannon have alrdy hinted that U.S. will enter war against China in 15 years time. Gen. Joseph Dunford predicted 25 years.

It will be WW3 - and both are nuclear states.

It is precisely this reason why Singapore cannot mind our own business - because if US and China fight --- there will be no global economy, and there will be no survivors.

Fight must be intercepted and defuse.

Only Peace will ensure survival and prosperity.

Singapore has no reason to end its military training programme with Taiwan even though the city state has strengthened military ties with Beijing, sources and observers say.
The city state will step up defence cooperation with China, but it is not in Singapore’s interest to give up its military ties with Taiwan because of pressure from Beijing, they said.
Project Starlight was set up in 1975 in a deal between Singapore’s late prime minister Lee Kuan Yew and Taiwan’s then premier Chiang Ching-kuo. Given the city state’s limited land and airspace, the two sides agreed to allow its armed forces to train in Taiwan.
The project has been under close scrutiny from Beijing, especially after Taiwan’s pro-independence President Tsai Ing-wen took office.
Taiwanese warned over taking up political posts on mainland China
In November, Beijing demanded Singapore respect its one-China policy and end military ties with Taiwan after nine armoured troop carriers were intercepted in Hong Kong for not having an import licence. The vehicles were en route to Singapore from the Taiwanese port of Kaohsiung after being used in a military exercise under Project Starlight.
The project is likely to be suspended, the South China Morning Post has reported, citing sources close to the Chinese military, after Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited China in early September.
But Taiwan’s Foreign Minister David Lee said on Monday that the self-ruled island had been assured by the city state that the military agreement would remain in place.
A diplomatic source said it was not in Singapore’s interest to succumb to pressure from Beijing. Singapore has already said it respected the one-China policy, the source said, and it expected Beijing to respect its sovereign right to conduct military training wherever it deemed appropriate.
Singapore ‘assures’ Taiwan that military training agreement will stay, Taipei says
Nicholas Fang, executive director of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, said although military ties between Singapore and Beijing were growing, it was not a zero-sum game.
“It’s not something that, to be my friend, you must be the enemy of other countries,” Fang said.
“I think we will definitely explore and enhance military training collaboration with China. But as far as the Singapore government is concerned, I think there won’t be any change in terms of its current training relationship with Taiwan.”
During Lee Hsien Loong’s visit to China, Beijing and Singapore reaffirmed a commitment to boost military cooperation, which included staging more military drills.
Why are so many Hongkongers moving to Taiwan?
Simon Tay, chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, said Singapore was using Taiwan’s facilities to train its troops, but Project Starlight should not be seen as a joint exercise.
“Singapore wishes to say that we are permanent friends, if we really are friends,” he said. “I think our strategy must be to remain possible friends with everybody. Of course, different kinds of friends. So with China I am glad to see we are going to train together.”
