Fate of Israel-Palestinian talks to be clear within days: Netanyahu

Middle East Peace hinge on 2 areas :-
(1) Israel & Palestine peace process
(2) Sunni & Shiites jostling for power of influence
If Israel & Palestine are able to come to conclude with a peaceful settlement - than half of the misery in Middle East will be solved.

Looking at both cases - there appear to be ideological religious differences that cause the conflict, some territorial disputes that created obstacles in the peace process, the security and safety concern that impede the settlement.
But if Israel and Palestine are able to settle all the concerns and come to settlement - then the only issue that prevent the Sunni & Shiites from conflict - is the jostling for power of influence - the ideological power of influence that will keep the 2 branches apart.
More social policy announcements when Parliament reopens in May: PM Lee

The best social policy is to ensure a well pay jobs for SIngaporeans - from graduation to retirement.

The best social policy is to - finance and encourage organisations to keep mature Singaporean's PMEs, workers on the jobs to ensure they are gainfully employed until their retirements.
By doing so, there are many benefits :-
(1) their experiences can continue to contribute to the Economy.
(2) they will have income to maintain their own well-beings as well as their families' well beings - including financing their own healthcare needs and other social needs.
(3) fund reserve to finance those who are not able to work will be correspondingly smaller as many have jobs and income to take care of themselves and need not rely on public social policy.
Currently, organisations are receiving 50 to 100 resumes a day - does not spell good for Singaporeans looking for jobs. Most of the time there are no replies from organisations - because the HR will just discard them as they are overwhelm with resumes - this does not sounds like a situation of full-employment because many local Singaporeans are not able to secure a job for months and years.

    • For eg., Government will finance say 10% of the mature SIngaporeans' PME or workers' salary when they reached 50 years old and 20% above 55 years. This will help to ensure mature Singaporeans are competitive and less incentive for organisations to employ cheaper foreigners.
Imagine out of the resumes receive by a hiring managers - 12 are foreigners and 1 is Singaporean - what are the chances of Singaporean securing a job?
(If at home, Singaporeans have so much difficulties securing a job - then social policy of helping Singaporeans to secure a job at home will be the Mother of All Social Policy - as I believe Singaporeans will prefer to have a fishing rod to fish rather than given a small fish, ikan billis to be shared by the whole family as food.)
This proposed social policy will provide incentives for organisation to keep and recruit mature Singaporeans - who are experience, less likely to job hops.
Such social policy encourage older workers to work and they can finance their own social programmes instead of relying on the public social policy.

        • You are forgetting that the employer can likely ask his foreign employee to give back to him part of his official salary which has been artificially set at a level so that is not subject to MOM's employment pass limit.
Remember that Indian diplomat who was arrested (and cavity searched) in the US recently for just such a tactic with her maid's salary?

By further restricting foreign PMEs and foreign workers by not issuing permits until all Singaporeans get full employment is another "incentive" & "disincentive" or even set a proportion of say 80-20 or 90-10 rule in favour of Singaporeans in all industries other than construction, maid etc that are not the local domain are some ways to regain grounds for Singaporeans.

try china where u hv iron rice bowl from birth
          2 death jobs.

Look at this scenario - there are not enough Singaporeans to replace the population due to low TFR. And jobs are plentiful. Singaporeans are one of the most well-educated and forefront in skillsets.
Why there are still so many Singaporeans lose jobs, unemployed but not able to regain employment or for those who are employed got their salary frozen with no increments?
This is even more acute for mature Singaporeans.
Something is not right isn't it?

Russia has 'absolutely no intention' of crossing Ukraine border: Lavrov

Great to hear that both Russia and US have taken a more conciliatory stance to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
Nothing in this World cannot be resolved by solving issues through communication, diplomatic means and willingness to strive for Win-Win solutions - instead of relying on the use of force.
The outcomes on resolution from peaceful means are usually more superior as compared to the use of force.

A full invasion of Ukraine will make East Europe the most volatile place on Earth surpassing Middle East and Asia Pac.
Ukraine must be prepared to defend their remainder piece of land - to prevent a full invasion.
Failing which, everything will be lost - and the whole East Europe region will be a very volatile place - raising the possibilities of a widespread war in the whole region.

This could be the beginning of 小三灾。
A mistake in decision of full invasion must never be made.
